Film footage of the Russian freighter Sergey Yesenin running into the Queen of Victoria Ferry in Active Pass in British Columbia on August 2nd, 1970. The accident resulted in the deaths of three Canadians, including a young mother and baby. The accident was a result of mixed radio signals, poor timing and the dangers of that section of the ferry route. Following impact passengers engaged aggressively with the Russian crew entering the ship while others frantically pushed cars off the decks due to leaking fuel from the vehicles.

We rode that same ferry to Vancouver Island in June 1970. Feel sorry for the people who lost loved ones.
