Brother, prices are terribly high here in Kentucky. No matter which grocery store I go to, I'm just in disbelief at the prices. Me and the wife are both disabled and on a fixed income and just barely getting by. We can't afford what we want, but the Lord helps us to get what we need. Sad times we're in and I'm afraid it's only going to get worse. God bless you.

Yes sir prices down there are a LOT cheaper than here in NW Tennessee . Those little Stouffer dinners he bought for 1.85 are more like 3.50 or 4.00 up here . And the little cans of biscuits he got for .89 more like 1.89...🫨🫨🫨

they raised prop taxes on me, and i suppose everyone. insurance is hugely increasing as well. artificially inflating the housing prices allows them to do that. a depression will fix it, houses need to drop 10x in price.

hi there mr tom. the heat wave has decimated my garden. its been like a furnace out there most of july, with a drought too. even the bugs are gone, white fly, leaf miners, and harlequin beetles can't take the 100 degree temps. i have gotten 2 tough-skinned tomatoes so far. and i threw at least $100 worth water morning and evening every day. guess i'll take the advice to get my fall/winter garden ready. the first 2 years of my garden were stupendous, thought i was a genius. now this 3rd year shows me i would starve if not for commercial farmers.

In my area there have been lots of cloudy days, and tons of rain. Every plant mold, mildew, and disease known to man (and woman!) invaded my garden. The garden is a flop. The only things successful were swiss chard, chives, rhubarb. Thank heavens for the farmers who have been able to produce.

Get a rosted chicken clean off bone separate into meals, rice, potatoes, cook beans, frozen berries, even roast beef in a can, rince cook with boulion broth, carrots, potatoes and onion. Frozen mixed vegetables mixed with minced canned chicken, chicken broth. Thicken and serve on biscuits.

Mr. Tom Take a pinch of salt and add to your milk when you open it. Shake well. This will extend the shelf life of your milk. Also, when I was stationed overseas we lived a long ways from the base so grocery trips were few and far between. We would open the milk container and pour off a small amout before replacing the cap. We kept milk in the freezer and when thawing it would be seperated but just shook it up to redistribute milk solids. You can also freeze milk in ice cube trays and just take out what you need .

I don't drink much milk and I used to waste milk if I bought much or find myself not having enough if I bought a smaller amount. I did buy canned milk to keep on hand for baking but did not like it in my cereal or coffee. I had someone suggest I try the Nido powered milk, telling me it tastes nothing like the yucky dry milk powder of years past. They were right, Nido is a yummy product, I love the Nido milk powder. I mix it up only as needed. I always have an extra can of Nido milk powder in the cupboard and I know it saves me momey using it and not throwing out sour milk. My mom uses it now too, she's 91 and it saves her extra trips to the store.

Hey, Mr. Tom! Well, I see what broke the bank--those Le Seuer tiny peas! Love 'em. Grew up on 'em. Haven't had them in years because of the way they jacked up the price. Last time I looked (a long time ago) I believe they were $2.89 at the cheap store. Fairview is delicious, and it lasts me a long time, too. Best of all, they didn't take advantage of the opportunity to jack up their prices. It's been $4.49 here for a long time, though lately $4.49 has been a sale price. I can respect that. Thank you for sharing your life, Mr. Tom! Have a great week! Hugs~

to Help you out with the milk.... Get a small jar (around half or less than the size of the container) put some in the jar and put it into the refrigerator. The the other 1/2 in the carton, POP it in the FREEZER you can finish off what you have in the jar and as long as the other is kept in the freezer, you will have fresh milk waiting in the freezer for you. Just thaw it in the refrigerator and shake. 😃 No more wasted milk. Prayers coming your way.

Am a single person. If this were the haul placed in front of me, the milk can be portioned off with a pinch of salt, a tip Depression Era seniors taught me. Recently, I scrimped and saved for a Bear yogurt maker. Not interested in the Greek yogurt or fruit wine, which takes 5-7 days to ferment. The plain yogurt function does well, which I end up adding fruit, includes bananas, a bit pf honey or pure maple syrup for a sweetner. The bread I purchase if on sale. Those get portioned off and most goes in the freezer.

see if a church near you has a food bank. some is 2x a month. others are 1x a week. i went to 1 a few yrs ago, alot of stuff was already expired. can stuff. so i started going to another 2 yrs ago. it is farther. they use to give good stuff & milk. now they cut back & down. so many ppl go. over 100 cars lined up. thing is so many want to get there early to not miss out, sometimes they run out of certain things. another reason is if you go later the longer you have to run your car & stop & go. which is why i go earlier. it is over 2 hr wait. if you do go early. but even thow not much. it helps out. i go each 2 or 3 wks coz its far.

Lovely haul Mr. Tom. I know the prices are high for you folks, but the folks in WI would love those prices! We pay 2.68 for the bread you bought, same pork 5.99/lb, michelina 1.59 on special, fairlife milk 4.49, same bag of shrimp 9.99. I live in one of the poorest counties in WI and our food prices and property taxes have been going up since 2017. Rent is outrageous--800 sq ft in a 30 year old building 1400.00/mo. There are grain shortages, hence high prices for wheat. Vietnam is one of two countries that supply coffee beans and because of rain and flooding--coffee production is down. Hence, coffee is expensive and may be hard to find in the coming months. We stocked up! I work in commodities and daily see shortages because of weather, wars, and worker shortages which equal higher prices. I'm hoping, if you can, you'll film some of the food you plan on making. xoxo

Hi Mr. Tom. You aren't kidding groceries keep going up. But I buy Fairlife milk also and for the same reason. It lasts longer and of course tastes better. The first time I tasted it I was reminded of how milk tasted back in the 60s. I'm 73 yrs old so in my days milk at school came in little glass bottles with the cardboard pull top! 😅 it always tasted so good. I live in Oklahoma, small town. We have one grocery store and a Walmart superstore. They're both smaller than what I'm used to. They're higher priced being in a smaller town. No competition. A head of lettuce is $2.00. Well anyway I'm trying not to complain because we're all in the same boat! $50.00 is the what I uses to pay $20.00 for. I feel blessed being able to have what I do. God is good. Feel better, rest, and don't quit. I know its hard.

If you buy a package of Bisquit or Jiffy (biscuit mix) you can shake out a little, mix it with some milk, put it on a baking sheet or muffin pan for 10 or 15 min. and voila! you have biscuits. You can make any amount of them you want. The box of mix seems to last forever using it like that. I think it's cheaper in the long run than the cylinders of biscuits.

Mr Tom, I am in South Mississippi. Your produce products seem to be cheaper than mine, green onions are .98 a bunch, and a head of lettuce is 1.87. And our potatoes are 7.99 for 10 lbs. 🙏🙏🙏 for you dear friend.

I use the Fairlife milk and really like it. I know it recommends use within 14 days but it has proven to last longer. In my area it’s about a dollar more than you paid. I agree the prices keep going up. My grocery stocking will be in a couple weeks when the ss check comes in. I got just a couple of needed items like bread (bogo) and package salad mix. Kind of depressing but necessary when trying to eat healthy. I currently dealing with kidney disease issues so trying to adjust the diet to focus on their health. Finding “fresh “ and “frozen” coming back into my life. I don’t mind the cooking but still find myself “mentally” challenged cooking for one lol😊. Take care Mr. Tom see you on your next video. Much love and prayers 💕🙏

Hi, Mr. Tom 👋 I went for my 1st of the month shopping and actually found #1 packages of Black Angus ground burger usually $7-$8.99 per #....but I found it at $4.99. so I got 6. Now I can make me some chili, burgers with onion slices , and goulash and finally meatballs and meat sauce for my meals. I also found 2 packages of chicken breast boneless marked down half price. I got those. That gives me 8 meals with chicken. I'll cut some into "nuggets" & "strips". Then I'll probably pound 2 real thin and fry one side and then turn it over & while it Frys " fill it with tomato and cucumber. I'll finish it off and eat it like a meat taco shell. 😆 So I got mostly meat but I got a real nice bunch of very large radishes with the greens ( they weren't going to put them out until they "cleaned & trimmed off the leaves ". I like the greens and washing them is not a problem for me. So tonight I had last month s marked down to $4.98 chicken baked on a bed of onions with a few of those radishes quartered ( yes they were as big as potatoes!), carrots I was gifted, baked kennebec red potato. Dessert was bird's pudding made with almond milk from last month. Those radish greens? I added those to my last 3 limping cabbage leaves ( I chopped into fine shreds) cooked in oil and ate with salmon cakes!!! Yessir I've gone through a bunch already and money is REALLY TIGHT this month again. But the chicken will give me 4-5 meals and the leftover veg from it will help. I might make a "NOT POT PIE" WITH THE LEFTOVERS. & The carcass & peels will make a good batch of broth down the line. I bought some zucchini and peppers for relish making for next week & some eggs with my first of the month "bounty". Now it's back to tight but I will manage as will others. You're right. Those convenience meals are great when you don't have any energy as they give you something to put in that very empty tank. I used to like both of those brands you chose. No gluten plus my other allergies makes it difficult to buy the cheap stuff. Hope to see you for your meal videos Mr. Tom. Hang in there, Dad! We still need you! Hugs

The price of bread and milk is awful. In tight times you could count on a pbj and milk for dinner. Not in Wa state. Bagels yesterday were 5.99 and I made some quick jam… store bought is around 6 dollars. Forced me to make something better! Hope your doing good with resting and just taking it easy. P S sauerkraut is very good for the stomach as well as ginger

I live in the state of New York where everything is expensive. I work 3 jobs and that isn’t even enough to stay afloat. I’m a single parent and I’ve had to be resourceful when it comes to groceries. I always have shelf stable milk in my pantry that I pick up from Dollar Tree for a 1.25. It keeps a long time and it’s just enough for baking and other recipes. I usually go to Lidl or Aldi for most of my food and I’ve learned to make a budget and watch for sales. I understand how hard it is to stretch a dollar, but in these times you have no choice. Be well and stay safe!

I get the milk from Dollar Tree, too - it's great. I don't drink milk but use a lot of it for cooking & baking. A lot of the time the DT is out of it, so I order a case of 12 online and have it delivered to the DT near me. Free shipping. Then I just run in and get it.

Mr Tom those prices are horrific! In the UK here that milk would cost us equivalent of $2. The lettuce i got last for equivalent of 60c. kraut was $1.50 for 18oz.Our standard bread is 800g (28oz) and can be had for under 90c.

If you wash and sanitize those microwaveable trays (be sure to cook your frozen microwave meals very low and slow…no matter what the “instructions” tell you) you can then reuse them for your own homemade meals, such as spaghetti. You can place your leftovers parceled out in the trays and freeze them yourself if you’d like to save money. Be careful, of course. Those trays, while “microwave safe?” Do release chemicals if the food gets hot enough to “bubble” briskly, so it’s important to set the microwave on med. to med-high and cook for longer. No hot spots and no chemical transference. Those frozen meals are a nice convenience though for when you just do not feel like cooking up a big mess of food. The time spent receiving cancer treatment is a perfect reason for wanting a meal to be quick. Also, you can freeze your milk. That way? No waste. I pour mine into small glass bottles and it freezes up just fine. I’m like you… I hate to waste food. Especially when everything is so expensive! And so many are going without.😢 Take good care. Try to get the rest as well as maintaining the activities your body and mind will need during the days to come. May God give you the strength to help you through this trying, tiring time. 🙏🏼🙂🙏🏼

Hello Mr. Tom your videos don't come up often but I hope your feeling well during your treatment plan. I didn't catch if you mentioned what your total bill was but it looks like you did smart planning out your menu. Grocery prices are high everywhere unfortunately but meal planning like you are doing definitely will save you some money. I have been working on my menu for the next 3 weeks maybe longer today with what I bought at the store ( I use Sam's Club alot) and what is in my deep freezers, blessed that they are full but its time to start using that up and not spending anymore money looks like my homeowners insurance went up this year ouch. Everyone be blessed. Anna In Ohio

I bought Fairlife milk at Walgreens for $4.79. Really like it due to less sugar and good shelf life. Went good with coffee and a little sweetener. Think you should go to Buddies and buy several chicken tenders with gravy. Freeze, thaw, make rice and include some sliced tomatoes. Quick and easy! PRAYERS!
