So we are in the middle of our home build & girl I feel you on the cabinets. I saw cabinets at a model like yours & the top cabinets you have without knobs, try replacing the cabinet doors with class ones, add LED lights in them & highlight an accent piece. It adds so much more light & to be honest those cabinets are so high there are not really functional. We decided to delete our kitchen cabinets & do huge floating shelves with under lights. Our pantry, we did like a huge butler pantry with a sink & countertops. So we did ‘not need cabinets to be different & show off our accents pieces. It’s so fun! Your home looks amazing!

Love the updates. Perhaps looks at some examples of other kitchens with upper cabinetry to see if adding knobs would be too busy for your taste. Tfs. 😊
The kitchen island does come off a bit brown, but nonetheless I think it was still a great color choice. I also like the cabinets with no knobs. The house is coming along so beautifully Kim.
Good morning. You have a lovely home. I have to watch your video about getting the new home. I would say put knobs on the cabinets in the center to balance it out. I think those top cabinets look fine with or without knobs. Oh, and I agree that the island looks good with the dark color at the bottom.
I too contemplated not putting knobs on the upper cabinets. So, I revisited my design magazines, instagram kitchen images and designer kitchen images. ALL of these images featured knobs on all of the cabinets. Adding knobs to the upper cabinets tremendously enhanced the space. The kitchen now seems finished and more custom. I'm so glad I did not leave some cabinets without knobs. (Although, no knobs on the hood.). The Shade Store offers a plethora of fantastic drapery/window treatment options.
Glad everything is coming together!!! I'm feeling the no knobs on top cabinets and the island looks a lot better!!! I wouldn't say it's "brown"...I see it as more of a black-with slightest brown, like the darkest espresso you could get...

The kitchen doesn't look unfinished, it just looks like those aren't cabinets. I think it's cute, actually. And, I agree with you; it probably would look busy.
I love the color combination of the island with the black the gold knobs and the top being so bright. I also think that the cupboards are perfect the way they are. If you take a digital photo and add the knobs, you'll see if it's too busy or not.💡 I love the way things are coming together, I'm excited to see more and hopefully the grand tour. The new paint complements the specs of brown in the flooring. Put the knobs up at the top it looks incomplete. The kitchen is gorgeous. The paint color in your office is beautiful
I personally love the no knob look. I like how it starts simple at the top then the eye goes down to the knobs at the bottom. At least my eye does lol.
The island color does read a dark or chocolate brown, but it looks good!!!!! More of a natural color mix with the decor. The knobs at the top are a good idea. Looks more finished.
The longer door pulls look better on the bigger cabinets, and the round ones would look better on the smaller cabinets. Also, the island looks FANTASTIC!!
No knobs. I agree with you concerning the cleaner look. Sometimes we look at things too much and they start to speak to us even though they are not saying a word if you know what I mean. It is just us reading into things. The top cobinets look more like an architectural detail without the attention-drawing knobs - especially since they are not often used. Have a great day.
The top three cabinets above the stove look like they need knobs, but the others look ok without them. Love the new paint as well. It looks great in your kitchen.

Hi Kim , the cabinets looks good, I mean with knobs it might look good, if you not planning to put anything in them, but if you do planning to put anything in them, it wouldn’t hurt to add the knobs, now adding them for the decor, would be nice as well, but either way it would look nice, island is nice btw, that rich caviar look Juss spice up the look in the kitchen, keep up the good work Kim 😊

I am a little curious about the kids, and of course, I'm not sure if you have a partner. Doesn't matter, a lot of your food choices I know I would love, but are your little ones eating the exact same foods? If not, can you show some alternatives? My 6 year old is a picky eater, and so is my fiance. He doesn't eat clean at all. The home updates look fabulous! Those book ends are so unique, I love it!

I think that not having the knobs at the top gives a very modern feel. It makes them look like an extension of the lower cabinets. I do agree that with as many cabinets as you have, having knobs on every one would be too much. Well done! You have great design instincts. 😉
