Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

the 'travelling script' analogy is a really great lesson, a great script has undeniable merit, bulldozers of beauracracy and of mutual benefit to those it impacts. really good stuff.

“The Secrets of Action Screenwriting.” Needs to be released in a new affordable paperback and hardback edition. Even POD would work. The overpriced used copies are ridiculous and I’ve never understood why this wasn’t challenged with new print run editions of the book so people can own physical copies if desired.

Wonderful interview -- great questions and thoughtful answers. Writing credits: as I've been watching FC, I've commented and read many comments on the lack of credits many of these 'story whisperers' have. Apparently, that's not uncommon and its evident that Martell has written and sold many scripts over I enjoyemany years and thus is worth listening to just on that basis alone. I also enjonyed the v human contradiction where he regrets not taking on the adaptation of Angels n Demons because he hated it despite the credit and payout it would have delivered. Later in the interview, he's advising not to take on assignments for projects you can't relate to or dislike . Not a gotcha - my point is that its human to feel conflicted and second guess one's decisions despite it being the right one for us.

my Scripps are all done. But I do have tweaks for them, and the problem is I can't bring myself to write until I've got the whole tweet figured out. But instead of writing the script the tweak is all microscopic details. I think it's harder to brainstorm the microscopic details when you're looking at the whole script.

Personally I have a character or two that their name is too on the nose. But it feels perfect. For example, Superman, Batman sound corny realistically, but it does work. It just depends, like what the guest said about gender then yea -- its got to change.

The script for EBT was sent by the top director at the time, it was the easiest read ever but it was turned down. It went on to earn 70 to 1… Unimaginably successful but it had been a pass… A pass. So we know The rule. is "people can't read". It's because the screenplay lacks visual cues, it lacks the music, and it lacks much of the human gesture .
