Beth your ability to understand the French cuisine and culture is so inspiring. You respect the traditions while making them your own in true American fashion. I adore how curious you are and it reflects in your videos where you try to educate yourself and others more. I loved loved the crab 🦀 bell 🛎. Your brother-in-law was great!
I’m so glad you enjoy them! I’ve been coming to France for over 25 years and it’s so true there’s still so much to know and learn and I’m always so curious even down to the smallest details I find it all so enriching and inspiring! And yes don’t you love the little crab he is just the cutest! A friend of my husbands gave that to him as a birthday present some thing she found out at an antique store knowing that we had a house by the ocean she thought it would be fun to have in the house and I’ve been having such fun with it this summer ha ha!
This array of super fresh French seafood is stunning and beautifully presented.Your family and friends are so elegant. What a beautiful summer dinner experience! Thanks Beth!
I live in Australia and live near the beach. I have lived here for 73 years. My great grandfather, his sons and some of my uncles were all fishermen. Growing up there was seafood abounding, every type that came out of the waters of Moreton Bay. We would have a seafood get together also. Maybe not as elegant and beautiful looking as yours. Ours was more a back yard do with the men cooking up the crabs and prawns in a pot down by the creek, which was at the end of my great grandparents garden, the women shucking the oysters and us kids running amok having a ball together. They were great days and many happy memories. These days we have lots of seafood dinners at my house. It made me so happy to see your lovely seafood party and brought back so many happy memories for myself. I love your style.
Awww what a wonderful memory! I can just see it all in my mind the way you just described it and want to be there right in the mix with everybody. It sounds like such a fun party.ha! Especially for the kids! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and it brought you back to some wonderful memories!! 💕💕
Beth this was just a wonderful episode. I enjoy your enthusiam for learning new things and sharing all you learn with your viewers. I really enjoyed seeing your extended family helping you shop and prepare the seafood fest. Please include them with your videos. We call all learn a few new French words traditions each time. I can hardly wait until I can return to France again. Enjoy your vacation.
Ha ha ha I kept thinking of grandpa in that seafood shop it reminded me of something that would’ve been in Seaside! I also kept dreaming of those beautiful seafood plates of Nonies thinking those would’ve been the perfect plate for this meal ha ha ha!
Such a part of my growing up and summers at the New Jersey shore! It’s in your Italian genes the sea and food from the sea! Stromboli, Calabria and Messina, Italy and Sicily
Hello! Just stumbled on this very entertaining channel of yours and I am hooked! Thank you very much for your beautiful presentation! Been binged-watching since Sunday! Just subscribed!
Beth, I just LOVED the presentation!! Philippe had me in stitches, it was so nice to see him and you sharing this wonderful seafood party with friends and family!! C'est Magnifique!!! Oh, that little crab bell is a keeper...
Hosting dinner for more than 4 is so intimidating for me, between the prep and not being so extraverted. Wish I could enjoy it as much as you 🥲 Looooove the white and blue table setting theme to go with the seafood!
You’ve always got it under control and together. These different types of seafood would overwhelm me.That’s why you’re the ultimate entertainer. Not sure if your aware but being a Md. girl I can’t imagine crabs without Old Bay. I know if Florida they do garlic and butter. So many ways to prepare. You’re like a true French woman. You’ve mastered everything there. Love this…thanks.
I grew up on the Potomac River in Maryland and my folks had a beach house in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware. I'm reliving my childhood watching this episode. My Dad and I would eat crabs, scallops and oysters til we popped. My Mom would be so ashamed. She & Dad served seafood on top of shells, stones, lettuce, ice and wood. 😊
Thank you so much, Beth, for showing us the complete process! It’s a lot of work to begin with and I know filming must complicate everything and make it all take longer. You have such a lovely family - they were such enthusiastic helpers and were great with their explanations and demonstrations. Everyone looked happy sitting at your table loaded with your feast. And that table looked fabulous! You’re so good at organizing and visualizing every little piece without getting frazzled. So impressive! The only thing that could have improved this is if we were there with you! 🦐🧡🦀
Beth, you are elegance personified, you are amazing. Your in-laws are wonderful. I enjoyed this episode, gosh I'm so jealous, but in a loving way. Vivre la France....enjoy
I'm so jealous. I wish I could join you! I've never tried many of the seafood items you bought. I'm so curious. I remember my dad getting live crab when I was a kid but I only ever see frozen ones now. I don't even know if anywhere around sells live ones. I really miss that fresh from the ocean seafood. Bruno has a great camera presence he should have a RU-vid channel too lol
This was so entertaining, Beth! I enjoyed every minute, love how you guide us through from purchasing, to plating to setting up the table! It’s freezing here in Melbourne Australia, and watching your outdoor entertaining on a beautiful warm day makes me long for our summer, to dine outside with friends and family.
That was great fun Beth. Even though your seafood party was nothing like the back yard do we had at my Great Grandparents house it filled me with happiness for those days of long ago when I was a little girl. My Father's mother came from a fishing family. I live in Australia near the Pacific Ocean and my great grandfather and all his brothers and some of dad's cousins were fishermen. Great grandpa used to have a big pot out the back yard where he cooked up the crabs, crayfish and prawns. Great Gran used to make oyster pies (very expensive these days but we got them fresh from the ocean). There were many reef fish cooking over back yard fires. Lots of relatives and lots of fun and feasting. I know I will watch this again, I love the table setting, the food and I even love the sound of the seagulls. They were guests at our seafood parties also!
Ha ha ha! I’m so glad you enjoyed it it seemed a bit chaotic when we were shooting it all but I’m glad we got all the parts down so you have the full story ha ha ha! I’m so glad you had fun watching it once and now maybe twice ha ha ha!
Hi Beth , Thankyou so much for shareing this beautiful occasion with us. There is another occasion you shared with us in Victoria magazine that I still have and that would be you lovely wedding day. Who knew all these years later I’d actually be able to to see how your marriage developed into beautiful family and a wonderful life. You are such a bright light in this darkening world and I look foward to my little escape through your show. Thanks again have a beautiful blessed day!💐🌷🌺
Joseph what a wonderful surprise ! I ve been inspired by your work too and saw you on shows that I just loved. I I stand why that wedding was such a highlight in your life it look so beautiful. You should be so proud of her and her beautiful family.God bless you all🌼🌺
Just found your channel, loving the French series. Just across the water in England by the coast. Can get fresh seafood caught that morning. If you keep the seaweed hanging in cool place, like a garage, then you can tell the weather forecast by it. If dry it will be dry if wet then it will rain.
Thank you, Beth, for including us in this lovely seafood party. It was a real treat. And thank you for including the French conversations too for those of us who can use the practice! 🇫🇷
Hi. Nice video. Good job. Just one little thing... Concerning months in "-bre" to eat oysters a'd some seafood. It used to be "more or less" true years ago. And because of the freshness. The transportation was not so easy and to avoid The heat that would soak the products, it was advisable in cities far from the sea not to eat them outside these cooler months. But this is no longer true today. Oysters can be eaten almost all year round. There are 2 or 3 months actually where they can be more "milky". Between April and June. But the specialist (seller) , if he is serious, will warn you. 😉
Wow all the seafood is fresh and look delicioso , the table is gorgeous, I enjoy watching , and thank you to sharing , very nice party 🦀🦞🦐everything look beautiful .💯👍❤❤❤❤
What a fun party! Great food and family and friends. And of course wine! Your brother in law is hilarious. He needs to appear more often! Tres bien! 🇨🇦

Beth, just got caught up with a few of your summer videos featuring your family’s summer in France. You captured the local culture, French cuisine and pure enjoyment of celebrating warmth of sharing with your family while including your RU-vid viewers. Thanks for sharing shopping for the freshest seafood, handcrafted pottery, fresh hydrangeas from your garden. I could almost smell the fresh salty air while hearing the seagulls overhead and water splashes in the nearby pool watching your family enjoy the French seafood table!
Lovely family !!!! It's so nice to see your French family members helping you with the meal! I think it's more enjoyable and fun when family and friends lend a hand!! Enjoyed 😊🍁
Thank you! That was a wonderful episode for us Salt Water Seafood Lovers 🦀 The ambience with your French Family was very special. What a beautiful tablescape with the hydrangeas and raised seafood platters!!!
These videos must be "tediously " complicated to make. But you trully are naturally talented for vlog- ish type pf content. I know eeeeveeeryyybodddyyyy makes them , but Beth you really are pleasant to listen to and watch. You not only offer sincere advise, but we actually see you in action. Like a born and raised argentinian, abrazos grandes Beth!!!!!!
Ha! Oh yes I am a woman of action ha! I'm so glad you enjoy them! Funny enough these Vlogs are easier than my Recipe videos! Since I can shoot it all/and edit it with my phone! :) Heading back to France this July and will be sure to share more adventures! :)
You are the modern day (more approachable) Dorothy Rodgers. When you do something, I just KNOW it's going to be done right, with beauty and class. As Americans, small farmers with tight budgets and bigger appetites - sad to say, I had wondered about some filler food? I guess that's just not done in France? Were I to offer a seafood bounty, such as you did, not to be cheap, but I'd probably offer a salad of baby greens from the garden, a green goddess type dressing, offer baby shrimp atop, green onions, a little fresh dill, halved grape tomatoes and boiled egg and sunflower seeds at the side to be added as one might desire. My husband, son-in-law and our friends are healthy, but love to eat hearty, so I have to partially fill them up since our budget could not withstand all seafood. Don't I wish!!!! Loved the lemon cutting trick and will be trying that soon. Your husband is so adorable and perfect for you. Just makes me heart smile when you two make a video together. Thanks Beth for a wonderful video and for taking us along with you on your adventures.
C’est fantastique de voir vos vidéos! Et surtout de voir la joie et le plaisir que vous avez avec votre belle famille! Keep the vidéos coming ! Love it!!
Very appetizing video! Am sure everybody enjoyed the food and the company. Not a cheap meal though, seafood is quite expensive but once in a while you deserve a treat. I noticed your sister in law is named Viviane, just like me, it’s quite a seldom name in fact. And she and her husband seem to be good cook and food lover and must have been impressed with.your cooking talent when you first met them, so you perfectly fit in your French family. Enjoy your summer and have a good time with your love ones. Cheers
Beth, thank you for an entertaining video. I love the family atmosphere, everyone contributing. The table setting, shopping in local markets, tips on how to cook and enjoy eating the french way makes me very happy and gives me ideas too. Plus, I enjoy seeing your big smile. I would never want to leave France.
We had a similar seafood platter in Paris. Everything was so fresh & served on a bed of ice. It was the first time we ate the tiny, sweet raw shrimp. The waiter showed us how to use the seafood pick to get the meat from the black shells. I’m used to eating fresh Dungeness crab here in San Francisco. The spiky shelled crab in France was also delectable! Your seafood dinner vlog brought back happy vacation memories. Thank you!
Oh, this was so lovely! I love seafood and I love family get-togethers! As a child we always bought crabs directly from the fishermen at our local seaside resort, and my mother would cook them for tea - I would still much prefer crab to lobster any day, but possibly for nostalgic reasons rather than those of taste! No shortage of mustard where I am, bought another jar only yesterday due to all the stories of shortages (couldn’t live without mustard!) and I have mustard seeds as a backup, just in case…
It was fantastic to see the process from start to finish on how your party and feast came together. The food looked scrumptious and I loved your table setting. I am really enjoying Season 2 of your time in France.
For some reason I just discovered your channel! I’m so impressed with your professionalism combined with a cheerful attitude, your knowledge, and your great cooking and planning skills. I will be watching and watching and watching!!
I absolutely LOVE these videos - and also your blog & newsletter!!!💕💕💕💕💕💕 I have tried many of your recipes & they are all wonderful! You make entertaining look so uncomplicated-thank you for sharing
This was a wonderful video, I really enjoyed watching it and hearing you and your family speak such a beautiful language. Gorgeous table setting and delicious food that has inspired me!
Just love your channel!! My kids and I watch all your videos, and these videos in France are some of our favorites!! And I agree, your husband and brother in law are so enjoyable to watch. Everything is lovely!!!
Beth, this was such a fun cooking episode to watch. I loved seeing your tablescape too. It was so pretty. I liked how you mixed your love of cooking with entertaining. That’s what I would like to do with my show but it can be difficult when you’re cooking, filming and entertaining. 😅 Well done!
Hi Beth, you are the hostest with the mostest! I love your party and all the planning that go into it. By the way, my absolute favorite color is blue. Needless to say, you blue dress, your table linen made me sit up and took notice! Beautiful blue color!
