As usual, I just paint whatever comes into my head, but this time, due to popular demand, I decided on a seascape.
Colours used; Sap green, Royal Blue, Payne's Grey, Red Ochre, Japanese Red and Titanium White.

I love opening up YT and finding my amazing friend and teacher who I know well but does not know me at all has given us another gift of his art and a few lessons. Thank you again for doing these and may you be blessed to give us many more. Thank you for casually showing us a different way to paint and think about painting along with the way you do it. lastly for entertaining us a long the way with stories, thoughts, tips and just everyday conversation to see us threw and make it far more entertaining than going to a random class or being belittled by a so called teacher. This here is one of the reasons I love RU-vid for what it is and giving us access to what would otherwise be almost impossible to find unless specifically looking for.

Always a treat to see a new post from you. The sky is lovely, can't see why you're going to make a part 2, but you always surprise me, just when I think you've painted something perfect, and think you'll muck things up if you start changing things, you go and do something magical and take the painting to another level. Wow Stuart, you are such a wonderful teacher, thank you for sharing your talent.

Oh I've seen a green sky. I was at the golf course, my dog was at home in the backyard. I knew what was coming, raced home and got Frankie in just before a massive hail storm. After it passed, the sky was bright orange and peach. I'll always remember that day and those colors. The experience is hard to replicate in a painting. I've been trying for 23 years

The first time I perceived green in the sky was a moment of profound revelation. Having been taught and come to accept that the sky is blue, it took me eons to see sky green. Thank you for mentioning sky green. Cheers!

Thank you for another video. I always find myself talking to you as you paint! For a moment I was quite upset when you changed the stark rocky cliff face, but then I really liked the softer hill. It's always a surprise to see what the finished painting is--so do, please, show us the glazing video when that is ready.

Thanks for another upload! I thought you might find it amusing that, over here in the US, we have a hobby store called Hobby Lobby. When I clicked on your video they put up an advertisement. Which is totally absurd because I've been looking at their website trying to find some oil paint and they don't even carry oil paint anymore LOL. 😅 Michaels hobby store however does have oil paint listed on their website. 🙏 But I've never seen them advertising on the internet that I can recall.

Bit behind on viewing so was watching this today. For some reason I kept hearing “clowns” when you said clouds. I was a bit confused…what? When did he start painting clowns?? 😆. So relieved when I looked up from my budgeting to not see one scary clown and just a lovely sky with clouds.😊. Love clouds terrified of clowns. Hope all is well with you and yours…and the Pyrenees are beautiful.

Such a relaxing way to end the day. Don't take this the wrong way, but you give an amateur artist like me a bad case of imposter syndrome. How is one to feel like a real artist if I've never met the Queen or traveled the world? You have had such an amazing career!
@kathryntitus9647

Don't be remotely concerned about how breathy you might sound, in fact I never noticed it until you mentioned it in this video LOL. It is not remotely distracting. 🙏💚 In fact I have noticed since you had been wearing your microphone on your eyeglasses in recent videos it actually sounded quite good, but then I've never had any problem hearing you on your videos in the past anyway.

Love your videos, Stuart! I used to do pretty good realistic pencil drawings and want to start drawing again. But you inspire me not to try and be so realistic. I mean, yours look realistic, but without painting individual leaves and blades of grass. I think you called it the impression of realism. Like you said, if it's going to look exactly like a photograph, why not just be a photographer? I love the freedom you have when you paint, and I want to do that with drawing. I think drawing with charcoal would be better for that. I saw they have color tinted charcoal pencils. Maybe a mix of vine charcoal and pencils?

Stuart, if you review your video at time index 19:20 you applied the red ocher over the gray hill. When doing so you left out the top-left section of that hill and a light- gray square spot remained. It never got finished as a cliff section nor did it become the sky. That, and the sky immediately around it, the only thing I noticed which I’m hoping you will correct as you stated you will be doing off camera. Otherwise, it’s another masterpiece. Thank you.

Thank you very much for teaching me :) I started to paint and I enjoy it a lot but I hear how many painters have a hard time selling their art and I’m wandering if I can do this for a living or just keep it as a hobby?
@StuartDavies

Big question! It depends on many things; what is your style, does it appeal to people, do you share it on social media? The biggest question is possibly, do you believe you can do it for a living?

It wouldn’t be detrimental to the video to have the camera further away and to your right, then you’re less likely to be in front if it. Just a thought! Fantastic scene as usual.
