In the aligned continuity the reason cybertronian modes have cockpits is because cybertron was once taken over by quintessons and they used transformers as slaves and vehicles, and after that they just kept cockpits as a normal things Then again the aligned continuity is so convoluted that could be wrong
Honestly, they don't even really need much to justify cockpits since mincons are a thing They could just say smaller Cybertronians have a symbiotic relationship with their larger counterparts and cockpits are a way for them to ride in them
Ace review brother - you're great at towing the line between being a lil goofy and genuinely passionate insights about a figure! Keep it up and I'll keep watching 🫡
My personal conspiracy theory is that some of the design liberties were taken to try and make the figure similar to his appearance with his IDW appearance, where they use the war for Cybertron designs briefly during the early robots in disguise run. I agree that Hasbro really isn’t putting forth their best effort in these gamer figures, but I will give them this many of those designs are cheating when it comes to the transformation, and I don’t think it would be possible to create accurate figures without the use of faux parts. It does feel like these figures are kind of the red headed step children of studio series, and that they’re mostly afterthoughts that are the budget leftovers of a wave and most of the talented and creative engineering is going into other parts of studio series. I really hope by the time that they get to fall of Cybertron, they are able to work out most of those issues, and really do those figures justice.
Sincerely, I hope they work this all out before they try to tackle the Combaticons! I would go crazy for a Studio Series Bruticus. Good point about the faux parts tho; I was recently thinking that we really should appreciate how few they use for this series. Or I said that, but apparently Sideswipe has a bit of trickery in him 🤔
from what I hear, they literally are afterthoughts and budget leftovers apparently there wasn't supposed to be a whole "line" of gamer edition figures last year, it was just supposed to be Optimus, a one-off who would gauge people's interest, but somewhere along the line it was decided that a full roll-out of wfc gamer edition figures would happen in 2023, unfortunately this happened late in the game, other 2023 studio series figures were in production and budgets had been allocated, and thus gamer edition was forced to scrape together and rush out what it could on what little money was left with little time, which certainly explains why Optimus is such an obvious cut above the others in quality, and why Starscream is-for all his faults-still better than everyone save Optimus, he actually got proper development time
Amazing script, photography, and insights. Your videos are pleasant to watch and listen to, as well as providing good toy reviews. I was laughing most of the way through. Thank you for making videos!
I’m always improving my production quality little by little, I feel like this video was a noticeable step for in terms of visuals, audio, and editing which I’m very happy with
"but just like my sister" and then tiddies and him possibly watching incest porn, though that last part is my head cannon and not necessarily representative of the video.
One thing i noticed about GE starscream and GE Megatron, is that both of them used concept art as preference for their robot mode and alt mode Now what this mean is that the designers and engineers doesn't really have the actual official model of WFC characters. Furthermore, most the clips you used for starscream criticism are from FOC not from WFC
1. Yep I noticed that myself 2. I have heard that before too 3. I am aware, I picked the footage because it was higher quality and brighter, so it would be easier to see what I was talking about. I did check footage from the first game, and the Seekers have the same quirk to their vehicle modes. I simply picked the better looking footage
@@Gei4Mei After a long research for WFC starscream jet mode, I can conclude that yes, his alt mode is accurate, but since he always change his form whenever he flies in the WFC game, it varies throughout his jet mode and it really depends on what type of angle or cutscenes you're researching Either way, sacrifices has to made for gamer edition line, sideswipe looks good but it seems like Hasbro won't give the designers and engineers more budget for him, I fear what will come in the future if Hasbro keeps treating this toyline the middle child
I think some paint along the rim of the cockpit would have gone a long way to make it more aesthetically pleasing as it would have looked less fat. They did mold in those details but they didn't paint them, similar to Commander Class Jetfire's cockpit.
When the reviewer did more research than the designer 💀 Another banger bro! Love the mid roll card, and I spat my breast milk latte out with that Kotobukiya starscream bit 😂🔥
He'll yeah! A new Mei video! And this time with the favorite screaming star xd Out of jokes, honestly I like the figure, but I cannot negate it feels incomplete in some areas, For me, it was realized almost done but for the realize time ends up like this
@@Gei4Mei RIGHT? but with the budgets that Hasbro and Takara manage, (especially Hasbro), the price of oil and the executives' desire for money, it is very difficult for this sub line to be able to survive pwp
Another rock-hard video my friend I agree. Even though I don't collect many WFC figures I can agree with this its fun and cool and has some problems but its whatever at this point. But good video my friend alway excited to see more in the future.
Starscream (apparently) is a chonker here. Whilst in the source material he’s a Gliding treacherous bird. Here I guess he ate too many chips one night and got HEAVY.
I agree, the Gamer universe figures feel more afterthought than serious intention. But after 25 tetrajets and 15 F-15 seekers, the gamer seeker looks pretty spare, I'm sure it is the sheer number of other seekers choking my shelf space. Maybe if they sold it as generic Decepticon goon and the Sideswipe as generic Autobot trooper. But I have 4 Starscreams, I don't need a 5.
I think a few select things can save Studio Series at this point, namely the FOC Dinobots, FOC Insecticons, and FOC Combaticons who can combine into Bruticus.
The only ones I’m for sure getting day one or whenever they are listed for Preorder is:Gamer Acree, Gamer Shockwave, and Gamer Grimlock those are the ones I really want most out this line 🙏
Just a slightly retooled version of the thrilling 30 seekers from 10 years ago.I sold mine because they're from the War/Fall of cybertron games from over 10 years ago and they're nothing like the G1 style figures I bought that were released in the Seige/Earthrise line a few years later
@@Gei4Mei Yea but it's mostly nostalgia driven because I was a small child in the 80's.I can still remember watching the 2nd season every weekday when in was big I even seen the movie in the theater the summer I turned seven.I don't even like the beast wars stuff because I was in high school by that time and never watched one show.
I mean Starscreams no stranger to feminine features my guy. Just wait until they make Legacy Prime Universe Starscream that will give this Gamer Edition a fitting rival 🤣
It's based on the concept art. The bot also seems to have a wasp nest on his chest. He's not too bad in person, but the original deluxe is much, MUCH better.
For me, this figure is a sideways improvement from the Thrilling 30 (the good stuff is off-set by some of the meh stuff). Thrilling 30 has cool light-piping and a better cockpit, and I loath soft rubber bits on figures (I like my cockpits windows harrrd). But this new one has a more satisfying transformation and cooler colours.
This figure proved to me that gamer edition is just a bunch of half assed figures pushed out for the sake of having something on the shelf. Nothing about these GE figures feels like actual care or love was put in. They can’t even bother to research the designs.
Always love ur content Mei! Your funny and informative and just seem like a "that chill bro" kind of reviewer which is really nice imo. If Twitter didn't keep suspending me I'd support u there too. @@Gei4Mei
My Game Theory with this is that the Japanese engineers and designers give so little of a shit about the WFC games combined with Hasbro's budget that they're phoning in the Gamer figures hardcore.
Here in Australia we're only rarely getting new figures. This guy is one of our only newer releases and even in this Transformers drought, when I saw him on shelves I skipped on him. The cockpit just looks ugly and ruins the entire aesthetic.
Dang, I honestly had less of a problem with it the longer I had him. I wish they hadn’t done this to him because I’ve heard a lot of people with a similar opinion
Only problem I have withe the figure is that the forearms are so flat. there was clearly enough room to have them fully sculpted, and they could have divided the forearm in half and add a hinge so the jet stays flat and the arms can be full in robot mode. but I'm not a toy engineer, so what would I know. Its still a goated figure.
As a small voyager, he looks really hollow and idk boring? There is no reason for this figure to be a voyager class. It seems like they don't really care about this line and just use some leftover budget to make these toys.
I’m glad u enjoyed it ☺️ the stand I used was a Tamashii Nations Act. 5 for Mechanics Stand. It has a ratcheted support arm at the base and a little cradle for gripping onto figures
I personally think the best Starscream we have to date is Reactivate. He lacks wrist swivels, but has the articulation everywhere else, and both modes look really cool. As for this figure. It's fine, but the cockpit design really is detrimental. Instead of painting the mace, they could have painted the cockpit to visually slim it down. Alternatively, they could have just copied that Planet X Starscream. What's Planet X going to do, sue for copyright infringement on a figure based on Hasbro's IP?
As much as I think these figures aren’t like the worst thing ever, I can’t be bothered to buy any of the ones they’ve dropped so far lol. And the weird shit hasbro is pulling is weird too since the 4 reactivate figures we have so far look more put together than this, a game with established fans. All I’m hoping for is soundwave looks and feels great and I’ll probably just get him
I think they were really banking on Reactivate or something, I dunno where that game is lmao. If they could rerelease the WFC games they could probably make some decent money 🤔
@@Autobot-Revshe saysit looks like a "build to rule figure" while showing the image... so my guess would be it is a "build to rule figure".....and google confirms precisely that! :p
