I'm sorry his dad abused him when he was younger, I'm glad he grew up and made something of himself.

Empathy towards his abusive father led him to study others. Commendable.

It's strange how childhood trauma can create two people on opposite sides of the bars.

Being abused is actually one of the "best" schools for people who work with criminals and abusers because you have been learning their language and behaviour pretty much since you remember existing.

That prolonged look of horror after he says "I realized that only me could make me better". That mute gasp, like a part of him wants to talk about it but it's too horrible to be expressed. I've never seen anybody besides me do that.

Who else read "A Serial Killer...." instead of the "A Serial Killer Profiler"?

There is an interesting story here - this guy has just been outed as a complete fake. Everything here is fake or copied from the work of others. His publisher has just withdrawn his book.

Given his traumatic childhood and how he turned it into good in helping us understand pathological behavior, I consider him a hero. Oh, and his holistic approach to a policy solution is brilliant.

my father did that too , locked me in bathroom all day long, locked me in dark storage room, and put cigars on my hand just so my skin burned and now hes wondering why in my 30 years of life i never have any jobs and antisocial and afraid of people lol he never did those to my older sister he only did those to me, my father is different person now hes okay as he geting older but maybe its just scarring me my whole life so even if my abuser changed im still abused inside

You guys should try get an interview with John Douglas. He literally wrote the book on serial killers and violent crime and coined the term "Serial Killer"

i love his approach to understanding the serial killers by using them as a resource to understand and apply to future cases

This guy fits perfectly in his picture of what a serial killer looks like. He was abused as a child, yet hes Empathic, knowledgable, well informed and... he knows where every other serial killer fails

I was fortunate enough to attend a talk in Manchester that Paul was speaking at a few years ago and his story is fascinating. This video doesn’t even scratch the surface!

Every morning I say to myself "I could murder a bowl of cornflakes" - I'm a cereal killer.

I was abused too and could never get answers. It definitely made me obsessed with the mind and how it works. Most people hate killers and abusers. I hate their behavior but feel compassion for them. I think they're sick and need treatment. They do not know happiness. They only know misery and faking happiness.

Well this didn’t end well, according to many articles this man has lied about his career, he never interviewed those serial killers nor worked with them. He’s a Manipulator himself. He even apologised to his fans for manipulating and deceiving them.

Please do a more extensive interviews on this man!!! His answers were so insightful and intriguing. I think I speak for all of us when we want more of his intense experience interviewing serial killers.

There's also an Ultimate to serial killer fandom. Partially through media, both fiction, and the news, or true crime documentaries like this one. You have Agatha Christie, and then you have The Silence of the Lambs. Christie's stories were mostly about the Upper Class, near royalty if not actual nobility in England. So, people read them partially for the scandal. Who was sleeping with whom, as well as whodunnit, but the cliche' about "The butler did it" points to the class of the people she wrote about. If a porter killed a waiter on The Orient Express, then nobody would care about it. There is the Escalation, and later in life, Christie escalated to at least 1 Serial killer tale. After she resorted to "Everyone did it" (Except for the servants, who weren't significant to the tale) she wrote the Pale Horse, and i won't spoil the ending, but it was basically a Serial killer. One man killing several people, serially instead of Witches. Then, we have Hannibal Lechter, who's refined, a gourmand, and a psychiatrist. He also had 6 fingers on each hand, and violet spokes in his eyes that seemed to rotate hypnotically when Starling looked into them... It's larger than life, the same reason why we're fascinated by supervillians (And elect them to public office.) Because serial killers are our supervillains, so those that catch them must be that good, to have caught them. Because we don't fight dragons to rescue princesses any more, we have Serial Killers, some of whom may pretend to be possessed by a Dragon.

The way he handled the subject is so admirable and human. I deeply appreciate his honesty with his own trauma as well

I'm very very very proud of him and I'm really sorry for the abuse he face when he was a child. He was indeed a very strong person to report his own father, came out of the abuse and strive for the betterment. I wish that I can give him a hug :(

I feel like childhood trauma and repeated trauma into adulthood either creates a force of great good, or a force of great evil. It either creates sadness, or an unquenchable rage.

The scariest thing in my opinion is not knowing if you’re harbouring some deep down emotion that has been covered for so long that you can no longer change it

Something I find funny is that some serial killers actually fear experiencing pain and death; even though they gleefully inflict it upon others.

He seems like a kind man.

This is a great understanding of a person.

Our society’s refusal to deal with our own dark sides causes immense damage.

He is not a "serial killer expert" he made all of this stuff up he never met none of these "serial murderers".. it terrifying how many of you believed him and didn't even search for evidence.. You must think for yourself.

I recently went to a talk Paul did about interviewing British serial killers and honestly, I could’ve sat there and listened to him for hours. I mean, this man was friends with the Krays, he’s interviewed people like Myra Hindley and Rose West and made a damn good career out of it. What a fantastic guy, and if anyone lives in the UK he does talks all over that are well worth watching😃

I’m so fascinated by serial killers and their backgrounds. Psychologically, if it’s nurture or nature “as they say”. I can only judge by my own experience as a mother of a child that has no empathy, has an uncanny knack of compartmentalizing everything, and has no concern for anyone but herself. She was a problem from the day she had a personality. I felt that something was “off” about her early on. Her father has been diagnosed with many mental issues and was fired from the Sheriffs office in NorCal for liability reasons. I had no clue. He was so engaging, so alluring, and very charismatic. I know I was a very good mother. I had three other children that have all done well. I made it a priority because I didn’t have the best childhood. It was my goal to make sure my kids would be ready for the world in a good way. This one daughter of mine has been to many psychiatric specialists throughout her life and they have all diagnosed her with reactive attachment disorder, adhd, psychosis, DID, and other issues. I’m so afraid that she will become a monster someday to others as she has to our family. 😞

This guy would be fascinating to have a conversation with. I feel like I think in such a similar way to him, his story is amazing
