I rushed this one out as the Endeavour launches on Feb 1 at 12pm Singapore time (in about an hour and a half), and there will be special pricing for the first 48 hours. So for anyone interested that really is the best time to buy it. www.rzewatches.com/

I like it...I have been in search of a titanium watch… Dive style of course. You nailed it though Shane… At this price even though it’s titanium with the protective coating… The NH 35 movement is a hindrance at this price range. 1.5 mm thinner with a 9000 series Myota movement and I would’ve ordered it before I finished your review.

In relation to value and the movement you have to factor in it has titanium and coat hardening which not many watches offer. Seiko only offers Diashield on its $1000+ watches.

Shane, Your comment on the Movement, is correct. At this "price point", a Miyota " 9000", would be much more credible.

@@dparis2172 Yes. But perhaps, We should include Watches that "sell", for just under $600.(regardless of the MSRP) For in that area, they would compete with more Watches, using ETA & 'Sellita' movements. Also that, would allow for more "feature / benefits", such as Titanium - like the 'RZE', above.
@RelativeTime
@RelativeTime 3 года назад
I was actually thinking that when I saw Marks new Dress watches. A few years ago Phoibos put out their Eagle Ray with the 9015 for around $350, and that was a crazy good price for a 9015. Since then prices for 9015 watches have slowly been creeping up. Even Phoibos couldn't match that price for their second version of the Eagle Ray and downgraded to a NH35. I was starting to think it couldn't be done anymore.

Superb video. Very fair minded, perceptive and interesting. I'm trying to get back to my daily swim habit. My local pool went out of business with covid, but there is a beach nearby, so the tool effect is fine for me. I love my Vostok but it keeps stopping and losing time. Titanium has always appealed to me on multiple levels. I am fascinated in the fact that it is plentiful and cheap relative to many metals, and yet is "precious" in so far as its engineering qualities of being extremely strong and light.

Nice review. I doubt anyone who is interested is going to pay full price. Anyone who signed up for the newsletter can get it plus a Tropic-style Rubber Strap for $359. At that plus the strap, for a Titanium diver on a bracelet, is fair. Most steel divers with a NH35/38 are around $300 or more, $59 more for Titanium is fair. It about the same price as the zelos Swordfish Titanium. It just went on pre-order, I got the white version, looks like it’s also a full lume. I don’t see the appeal of the sand textured Dials. They also look terrible in macro shots. Of course this is my opinion. Would be nice to see more gloss black Dials, they usually look really good. I didn’t go the the field watch, for the most part, not a fan of fume dials. I also really like having a timing Bezel.
@RelativeTime
@RelativeTime 3 года назад
Was that a special discount code? Or part of the first 48 hour special? When you factor everything in, especially the treatment for the titanium, it's probably a pretty fair price. It's just for me $400 is kind of the limit where I think a NH35/38 becomes more of a liability and less of a good fit. Which does beg the question if it had a 9039, but cost $500. Would people be more willing to buy one?
@surfitli
@surfitli 3 года назад
@@RelativeTime it’s the first 48 hour special. There was email with a countdown. I would say $400 for a NH38 Titanium watch in Bracelet plus the coating is fair. Its just as I do, they use the price of similar watches to judge what they think a particular watch should cost. I would imagine the Titanium Swordfish would be the main watch to compare this too. I would say if this had the 9039, $500 would be fair. It’s basically on level wit the SW200/2824. The unidirectional winding is not an issue for me, the only time I ever noticed wobble was when I intentionally forced it to happen.

Looks nice but what is a tool watch anyway? To me my G-shock Rangeman with a compass, altimeter, barometer, and temp that's a tool watch. I don't think case material is enough to make it a true tool watch. But i will admit it does look nice and the coating should hold up over time.
@GodIsInHisHeaven
@GodIsInHisHeaven 3 года назад
I have the Rangeman too (love your avatar btw), but it is so hard to compare G-Shocks to any other mechanical tool watch, tool watch definition = allow you to tell the time and perform additional practical function. So whilst this dive watch is not as feature packed as the G-shock, it's still considered a tool watch. I spoke to a professional about the hardening processes that these microbrands are using these days, they said the coating wears off after a year or so of regular use, which is not bad....good for marketing but I'd rather it was not there and I pay less if that makes sense.....why do you think major brands don't really use these treatments? They don't want unhappy customers in a year or so with scratched up watches questioning the extra they paid for the coating.....
@RelativeTime
@RelativeTime 3 года назад
Good question. I'd be curious what other people think as well. Off the top of my head it's a watch that is prioritizing function over form. As well as aesthetically looks like a tool, or piece of gear then a piece of jewelry. So in some ways it's there more for you and what it can do, then looking flashy to impress other people. In which case G-shocks are modern tool watches. Sure they have some design elements to make them look cooler, but it's mostly about what they can do.

@RelativeTime
@RelativeTime 3 года назад
It's a tricky subject. $359 is still a little high for where I like to see a NH35/38, yet with everything you are getting it's pretty good. This is why I tried to rush this review out for its launch. So those that are interested can take advantage, as I think that's only good for the first 48 hours. The thing is even at $459 it's a fair price considering titanium, and especially the scratch-resistant coating isn't cheap. Yet the point I was trying to make is that I think there is a price range for each movement where it's a good fit, and once you cross that point it starts to become more of a liability. Something that people might look at think that it doesn't quite fit. Kind of like back in the 70s when Ford threw an underpowered 4-cylinder into a Mustang. For me, with a Seiko NH35/38 that price point is about $400. After that, you start to wonder if it would be better if they upgraded the movement, even if the end cost would be a little more.
