Time is Relative, especially when you're spending it on a hobby you enjoy. This channel is created to primarily showcase watch reviews that I have created.
Id buy this in a heartbeat if the new face wasn't so bland. I like the classic look with all the branding and text and colors, I don't want all silver or all black, and the lettering options aren't enough
@@RelativeTime If thats possible I'll buy it right now lol. I was already trying to figure out in my head how I could cut some thin plastic to the faceplate size and print on the back of it... but that sounds much easier
Thank you for your feedback. Regarding the strap issue, we have added an extended strap option, which fits wrists up to 21cm. We hope this resolves the inconvenience for some of our users. Cheers!
Realized within 5seconds I had to have one. Reminds me of a globular bodied swatch irony from the early ‘90s. My favourite daily wear for about 20 years.
I really like the dial design and agree the lume and hands should be better. But I don't like the dial enough to buy the watch. I'm undecided about the brand name. I'm happy they're going with original designs with this name though and I'm happy they have their own website instead of AE. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out and what their next watch releases are.
I appreciate the risk being taken, but don’t like the choice of this watch for launching a new brand. Chinese watch manufacturers are making some awesome watches, I think they should have gone with a halo design to show the world they are a true contender. Great, honest review.
At last, a decent sized watch. And an interesting design. So what do they do? Put a short strap on it and make it too "Chinesey". (I know, I'm aware of the irony.) Down here China isn't flavour of the month right now. And, as to the strap, if Casio can put a decent sized strap on a $40 dollar cheapie, then what gives with all these modern watches with short straps?
I’ve seen a couple of other videos on this watch. It’s just too much of everything. They took every element of the watch to 11 (or maybe even higher). They need to learn a bit of restraint. If they had used 2-3 of the unique design elements, they probably could have designed something with relatively wide appeal. But that just looks like a kitchen sink of design school ideas.
Hated it first time i saw it BUT Ive been back half a dozen times and i like it better every time. Its definitely original. Just need an upgraded, high beat movement. Especially like the green and stainless bezels are really in now. 6/10.
Well if I had to choose between this watch and the Eagle 2 you were wearing during the review, I'd wear the Eagle. Not my favorite style of watch anyway. I don't think it's impossible for San Martin to pull off exactly what they are doing with a dedicated original design sub brand, but the name does indicate to me that maybe they might be leaning so hard into their own heritage that they alienate some western customers. I will say the San Martin in my collection that I enjoy the most is the original enough Skin Diver GMT they released after Seiko launched their GMT movement. And if I'm picking between the Seiko and the San Martin for a dive GMT, I'll wear the San Martin every time. It wears thinner, has a better bracelet, and for less money. I think they could do well out Seiko-ing Seiko these days and be successful at it.
I respect the attempt and your explanation helps with why it’s called the War Drum. This one definitely is not for me, but another reviewer showed some previews of watches they are working on, and I am looking forward to their future offerings. Maybe Grand Martin?🤔
@@RelativeTime Fair enough. That Luch watch (Luch means sunray in Russian) looks disappointingly underwhelming. Shame, Soviet watches used to offer many interesting designs that even offered some quality, yet this particular Luch timepiece looks like a $5 quartz watch with zero water protection.
@@RelativeTime Yes. Vostok. More expensive ones do offer some interesting models, but entry level Vostoks should drop those tacky military style dials that were designed in 90s when all things Russian were attracting attention, but these days much subtle style would win the world over as Vostok movements are otherwise great workhorses that offer durability and precision.
I respect San Martin for bringing out this new watch brand to show that they can design their own watches. I am not feeling love or lust for any of their Jianghun watch models. I will never buy one. I don't have 3 hundred dollars to waste on this. On the other hand, I just bought my first San Martin watch which is a 62 mas homage on a rubber strap for only 158 dollars with an NH35a movement. San Martin needs to stay in its lane where it excels.
Looks like a normal watch that was inflated, like a pool toy. Some really cool aspects, but too much crammed into one watch. Agreed, that caseback is exceedingly cool.
I forgot to mention it in the video, but you should notice that the watch has a lot of reflection and glare. Which is to be expected with some domed crystals. But just be aware of that if you're looking at it seriously.
Excellent review. Nails it perfectly. Personally the strap pack saved it. Black rubber. Black dial. Matching date wheel. Extreme legibility. But, it's still a bit rough in places. Also aspects of the launch were a bit naively done that didn't reward early adopters. But all in all, he's a nice enough fella and reasonable watch at the price point. Needs to consider the returns policy though. Better to be realistic and charge a few more quid to improve QC or fund a reasonable approach to the warranty that does not piss people off. Thanks Shane!
Outstanding bit of kit. Only Seiko are this good. I've had mine a few years now, and I'm so thankful Seiko brought out this reissue. As someone who grew up through the mid 1980's, I kick myself that I didn't have an original as a kid. Besides I was more interested in the G-Shock square back then. This is cracking watch and I whole heartedly recommend grabbing one if you've been remotely tempted.
Not been one for a one hand watch..but.. this has got my attention. The 15min markings are nice. Not a fan of the bezel myself. Nice idea, definitely a more chilled intended use. Like that
Despite all of the wtfs I absolutely love my Monster Save the Ocean. I have the deep blue and ponder picking up the Antartica now that I see it slipping around $300. Still, everything you mention is why I have not. It's hard to justify two with no sapphire and this stupid candy bar. I know some people have torched it off but I tried that and it didn't budge.
I like the watch design and really like the "island time" attitude of it. But for a niche watch with a basic 8 series Miyota that doesn't even have a capped minute post, the price seems way too steep to me. I still enjoyed the review though!
Great looking watch and great review / seems fairly easy to read the time within a couple of minutes not sure that should even be considered an issue and most people operate on 15 30 45 and 00 anyways ... keep up the great reviews has helped me plenty on my new addiction that is watches (not sure the wife has the same love for this as i LOL / 24 watches and counting)
I also think that these kind of watches are perfectly fine for anyone who isn't following a strict minute by minute schedule. You can clearly tell when it's 2:15 or 2:30 or 2:45. I think you may be understating the precision of this watch and its display.
I love the idea of one-handed watches. I own a Slow 24-hour watch for example, but the problem is I just never end up wearing it. I don't think it's stupid or a novelty or flawed in any way and I even like the concept, I just don't end up wearing it 😞
Okay I'll say it. Vario single hand Navi is definitely the wrong name for that watch because it has two hands. It might have three depending on how you want to count them.
I think this is a great watch and it has been on my want list for a while. Many of my watches are vintage and lets say + or - a few seconds a day is not their strong point. Another poster commented that quarter to or half past is fine for most circumstances and if the hand is in-between your guess is likely to be within a few minutes. A very attractive watch. It is in my opinion a good looking thing . Wrist candy. Roll on the days of free trade the we can buy from Singapore or anywhere without those pesky duties and tariffs . I hope to have one before the summer is over .
You would think someone as experienced in watches as Jody would come up with a more interesting aesthetic. This is just a super boring watch to look at. Sorry!
Love the vacation shots hope you had a great time! I think this is a great vacation watch ..if you (or anyone) can make themselves slow down and enjoy it 🙂 PS My partner is Hawaiian native and she drives me crazy with island time! 😂
I personally don't derive the extra enjoyment from a mechanical unless I can see the little bits. I vastly prefer the reduced weight and size of quartz for a wrist watch. 36mm is about my favorite case size.
