Hot take. Think re-using assets should be a common practice. If developers used the Extra time, to improve other areas of the new game. Instead of just saving time and money.
while this game just seems like the bad taste of cannibalization and lazy rehash with no improvement, I do agree in most cases companies should just grab what they already have and slightly improve on it and check what can be added in new stuff. like fromsoft did with the souls/born games leading to elden success.
Not sure if you've experienced it because it wasn't covered in the video, but the game actually tries to tie itself into MGSV in one more way, through a short alternate ending, which I'll put under a read more/spoiler warning for those who care, lol. | | | v Just after you send Chris through the wormhole and you start going back to the final big wave defence, you can actually turn around and choose to go through the wormhole too. Your character goes back to their timeline, and is shown waking up in Afghanistan wearing full MSF combat gear, just like the various wandering MSF soldiers that you can recruit in MGSV. It then lets you reload straight back to before the choice, so you can continue the game as normal. Unfortunately if you miss it, you have to replay the entire game again up until that point to trigger it from what I can remember.
I think I saw something like this a while back actually, the ‘Infection’ could also be the parasites since some of the skulls are fairly crystalline in design at some points
If I had a nickel for every popular Japanese game series that created a poorly received zombie themed spinoff I would have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice Yakuza Dead Souls if you’re wondering
onechanbara. school girl zombie Hunter. edxero zombie uprising. deadcraft. theres many my account balance is a bit more than two nickels as I love these
@@boxtank5288 as long as there people want to replay soulsborne type of game including Elden Ring, that game genre never fades to existence. (Not to mention people wanted Bloodborne sequel let alone Bloodborne out from PS4). Same to KINGSFIELD
@@gruntingskunk2237 more like Wow okay?... because everything has to sound like you asking it? And then you bring it back down to an answer. And then you ask another question? That is definitely not the only issue. The speed at which everything drained, stamina, food, water, fuel etc. with the game notifying you nonstop about all of it was unbearable.
These are my2 biggest issues with the game. 1. The fact that you can't play this offline is stupid, which means eventually you will not be able to play this game ever again. 2. Gross micro transactions is beyond gross. The fact you have to pay 10 dollars to unlock more character slots when monster hunter world, which came out a month prior. Had three character slots for free. This could have been popular if Konami hadn't attached the metal gear name on it.
About eating/drinking items that have a chance to give you abnormalities: The first time you do, i believe it's guaranteed you will not get sick, the second time you do, guaratees you will, every time after that it's a very small chance to actually get sick. I haven't played in a long while now, but i think this still applies, if i'm not misremembering, making the risk of getting sick after the guaranteed one basically negligible
@@TheKazuma410P Yea i revisited the game since then, it seems that changed in the time i haven't played, though it seems infections have a cooldown until they happen again
@@SiveenO on a battlefield, yes. behind enemy lines? it can be extremely good. after all, they're silent and have tons of versatility. you can dose the head with poison, you can have an explosive charge as the head, etc. for a non-lethal option, you can have the arrows be dosed with a sedative.
The game really 'starts' in the post game, the multiplayer is wild and there's a HUGE amount of gear of higher quality tiers of loot and stuff. It's a shame it isn't more doable solo, it IS but it's really difficult.
Nah it should be the 5.5 like how PW was the 4.5 , the captain and their team should find their way back "home " but discover this is a world where John never embraced the big boss legacy or he and Eva were killed during the gap between 3 and peace walker , a world without snakes or bosses and they are the only ones aware of what it means but there's still metal gears developing and weapons being made that need to be stopped.
As someone who has played Metal Gear for more than 30 years i appreciate your reviews and the honest feedback about survive including referencing the fact Kojima literally wanted to make Zombie games and has been including those elements for years. Survive was never a bad game, it just got caught up in the hatred and anger surrounding Kojima’s firing and MGSV being unfinished. I wish you had gotten to play the multiplayer because that’s really when the game is at its best and most fun, including being able to pilot Metal Gears against the bosses. Thanks for the time and effort of your review. Welcome to the fandom
@@ThatDudeCurtis6 I agree the multiplayer is really fun. It’s the best way to get resources too. I still play it, when I can find other people playing that is.
my headcanon is the random soldiers you have to recruit in sideops are the characters that got sucked in the wormhole. If they do another post MGS4 era game, Im hoping Goodluck pops up as a supporting character. nice work on these video essays.
Actually, he could appear almost anywhere in the timeline. He was what, 10(?) when he was sent back and 30-40 when the motherbase incident happens in ground zeroes. Means he must have landed in history like 5-10 years before MGS3. And that would make time about 65-80 in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
I am one of the eight people that had tons of fun on this game. It was unfairly judged before it even hit release shelves because of all the drama that everybody already knows about. The fact of the matter is, people missed out on a really fun multiplayer experience. I've been saying it since the day it came out. I can only imagine what they would have added to this game if there was an online player base. Every once in awhile, I will still log on. Finally, it's also pretty clear that at least some of the mechanics of this game were on The Cutting Room floor from Metal Gear Solid 5. On some level, Metal Gear Solid 5 was supposed to have survival elements like snake eater, and again, because of reasons we already know, they couldn't be placed in that game. *Do you really think that zoo we were building on the Diamond Dogs base was really just for viewing animals?*
Oh, I forgot to mention, the game is deep as hell. If it wasn't for the forward operating base section of the phantom pain, Metal Gear survive would actually be deeper than that game. How about that?
Kojima had some really ambitious ideas for MGS5. There was rumors floating around on how much Kojima burning through his budget and Konami had to step in. Now I wonder how much more Kojima needed to release the game with his ideas intact.
@@tiltedlampshade yup. We would have had what we got, plus the online section, plus the fob, plus survival elements like survive plus chapter three of the story, and God knows what else.
Thank you for the honest review. I got the game when it released. I still play it some now. I would like to say it does tie in to the main series if you go in the wormhole after Chris. You become a wandering mother base soldier. Also the co op is the best part. It is pretty much dead though. Me and some people still play the co op regularly if you ever want to join. They are the best part. But thank you for giving the game an honest chance.
I need people to play it if anyone wants an extra man, can't be bothered with the stress of solo'ing Extreme missions, it's mad boring alone This video got me to install it again
Man, I didn't notice it until you pointed it out but you definitely do have that very consistent Minnesota upward inflection in your speech. It's definitely not as prominent on the streams, though. Regardless, congrats on finally capping off the series! I'm really glad I found your channel. It's been a fun ride. I'll definitely stick around to see what series you're doing next.
I pretend this was a vr mission, atleast then it ties into the series a bit more... maybe a vr mission that gray fox went through. Also if were being honest the grind on phantom pain when it came to upgrades at mother base took too long imo.
I like that reminds me of a fan fiction I read where every event after V was a simulation for solids and Raidens training against cipher/patriots it was basically a snake/big boss circle jerk but if you consider the multiverse it makes sense
Honestly I thought I would never wanna try this game but after watching the video and gameplay it does kinda look intriguing I might actually pick it up today since it’s on sale
It's kind of sad that you didn't even mention the secret bad ending or try to meet up with those who still play the game, in Co-op, but I do understand the constraints you had. Thank you for giving a fair review of the game as well! I only had a little bit of time due to me using an Xbox, but the time I had in Survive's Co-op is genuinely some of the most fun I've had online.
I forgot to say, but. I do have a minor problem with the fact that you commented on Virgil becoming infected being off. Dread Dust was formed via medical nanomachines, which still can be programmed. Also, something cool about the co-op mode is that there are actually rotating events based on various periods of time in the franchise where you can actually get cool costumes and cosmetics based on various things. i.e. MGS3 where you can summon the Shagohod and dress up as Naked Snake or The Boss and MGS4 where you can summon MG RAY and even dress up as MGS4 Raiden. MG REX also being the sole pilotable MG in the game is hella awesome.
I actually liked Survive even when it came out. Had a blast playing the multiplayer with a friend. My favorite part was exploring Dite and finding items to upgrade my survival capabilities. Unfortunately I hated the tower defense sections and never even beat the single player because of that. It's works in multiplayer but I don't want that in my single player.
Every Metal Gear Solid Game Aged like wine, including revengeance. Funny thing is, I consider myself a gamer and I played a bunch of games under my belt. Other franchises including Uncharted, RDR, Fromsoft, DMC, GOW, Metroidvania, you name it. But my God! I always come back to MGS. IMO nothing comes close, epitome of gaming. Nice review as always!
The only good thing I can say about it is that it actually incorporated a *solid* melee system that was severely lacking in the series. We've had stun batons, machete, and swords before, but having multiple melee weapon types was kinda neat for how short lived they end up being once you start to get firearm crafting. The fact that they added a combo system to melee means they could have done it for 5... or at least retroactively added into 5 with free DLC or something. Also, having Masahiro Ito come back from Silent Hill to design some weird otherwordly post-game bosses was a nice little addition. They could have just made a game completely around killing aliens if they wanted to.
Survive was a game that I liked but know for a fact I would have potentially loved if they weren't calling it a Metal Gear game. It should have been its own IP with more development and less asset recycling.
Great video, and i'm tempted to play it on the ally and leisurely play it now but chris and good luck are likely the only reason i'll play it. i put it off cause kojima loyalty but it sounds like it will be ok for a spread out play though.
It feels like Kojima had some notes written up for the new MGS, then he was let go, Konami made Survive with said notes, Kojima made Death Stranding with the same notes, as well as refining and expanding on these initial ideas.
This was clearly meant to be the Majora's Mask to MGS V's Ocarina of Time. Heavy reuse of assets, clearly short development time, not given a full-tilt budget like it's predecessor. The problem is, it was way too experimental and unpolished.
Well if you took a look at the exaggerated big 2nd V in the game's logo, you should instantly know that there is a relationship between MG Survive and MGS V
I can’t remember if it was a demo or what at the time, but the game honestly felt really good as a tower defense without the need for food management Like the multiplayer was actually fun, then they made it so you were required to use your own items from the story in the multiplayer in the full game
If they had some constraint they wouldnt have released a game with the mgs name shortly after the thing with Kojima happened. It might actually have stood a chance
should been just called 'MSF survive' maybe even be a stand alone dlc for mgsv for £40 and they might have made some money and avoided a huge backlash by marketing it as a metal gear online expansion mode type thing and not a new METAL GEAR game
Got over 200 hours and got pretty much everything at that date. Even had some glitches that gave out five digits of resources that kept me going until I finally got tired and moved on. The best moment was CQC the Tracker and using moves that let me clown it. It still had QTE for barehanded combat.
Ah, so Death Stranding Design is what we would have really had in MG Survive. Much better lore than what we ended up with. Also, the inventory system from Death Stranding would have been a part of this and would have been way better. This just furthers my disappointment with this game. Imagine how much more fun it would be with the mechanics and animations of carrying cargo the way we do in Death Stranding, would have been so much fun... Its best I just stay away from this game to avoid being pissed off
As a huge Metal Gear fan, I liked Survive, but it should have really been it's own thing, and if anything it shows the Fox engine makes for a great survival game engine.
Idk if you came to the conclusion later, but man, it's so very obvious that Kojambo left a post-it with certain ideas that would then take the form of Death Stranding, there are so many odd similarities, not deep ones, they both go for completely different stuff, but it's hard not to see it. And honestly? This game ain't bad, it never was, people were sore about Kojima, and zombie game fatigue and, of course, bad Konami practices including how they handled save slots. But at it's core, it's a cool take on tower defense and survival gameplay, it's not for everyone, but it's also a really good entry in the genre.
I still haven't gotten around to playing Death Stranding, but a lot of people have been saying similar things in the comments about the similarities which definitely makes me curious🤔
MGSurvive and Death Stranding are equally as good games 7/10s nothing special and nothing ground-breaking, just solid good games with many flaws I'm just mad we got Death Stranding 2 instead of Days Gone 2, Days Gone was better for sure and it seems most people agree
0:16 last time I checked we knew the full story - Microtransactionfilled shovelware for phones makes a ton of money - They force microtransaction nonesense onto MGSV (the FOB Coin nonesense) - Kojima gets yelled at because his huge, expensive games make less money than phone shovelware - Kojima gets yelled at not not putting even more greedy scams into MGSV TPP while he is already unhappy with the stuff they forced in - They ban Kojima from going to the awards show where his game won something, they try to control the narrative and steal credit for his work, host goes rough and tells this on live TV - Kojima gets told "we own you" and now he walks - They butcher what they can from TPP and add nonesense crafting mechanics, nonesense survival mechanices and nonesense zombies on it, calling it a "new game" (At least they didn't add lava levels?) Not gonna lie, MG Survive is what an AI would come up with on "TPP but with all bad clichés"
Everything you said until the last point, while true, is not really a solid critique when judging an entire game, very biased. >They butcher what they can from TPP and add nonesense crafting mechanics, nonesense survival mechanices and nonesense zombies on it, calling it a "new game" (At least they didn't add lava levels?) This is just false, first off Snake Eater had Hunger Stamina and Healing etc (literally why when you are injured it's referred to as CURE), and they reintroduce and actually add extra movement tech and features, the game is seamless and regardless of how you feel of Konami's handling of the Metal Gear IP, this game is a solid Survival Game. VALID CRITIQUES would have been Always Online hinders the first quarter of the game because sometimes the servers can kick you off, and autosaves are only when you return to Home Base after exploring. The vehicles kinda suck balls. The plot slightly taking liberties in the storyline (set between Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain) such as wormhole tech and other things, but I'm almost positive they explained these things I just was not tuned in. Overall this game being linked to Metal Gear when it didn't have to be is another critique.
The game was pretty hard to get wrong. The FOX Engine may be the best third person shooter system to this day. The worst part? Konami has that engine hostage. Fuck Konami.
Survive was the first and only "Metal Gear" title which I enjoyed and finished X D It is a nice little survival game. With some mytery to it. Thanks for the very "normal" sounding review. Away from the usual "It is not Metal Gear!11!!"-screams one will find with stuff about this game. You deserve a like! Survive was more linear and condensed somehow. But It has so much wasted potential. The sky which looks like see from underwater was a great idea. I really wished, it wouldnt had ended the way it had. Maybe I would have taken another look at the previous Gear games. But life doesnt work that way all the time. Oh, what is also a bit funny: Gunpowder is stored in Soy-containers X D Dont know why. I guess that's a big sign of the asset-reusage ^^ But it was still a fun game. Even the multiplayer brought a bit fun. Now I want to reinstall Survive : D Anyone in for it? Oh, Last but not least: As far as Im aware of, there is a steam group or even a discord for people who want to meet-up for a multiplayer round in survive. But I dont know how active these are.
Honestly, as someone who never really played Metal Gear games, but loved zombie games, Survive was a ton of fun! I think if it had come out before Kojima split, or long enough after that people didn't assume it was an attempt to tarnish his rep, or even if it just didn't have the Metal Gear title attached to it at all, it would've done MUCH better. I can't think of many zombie games that allow you to quickly and seamlessly plop down a variety of defenses on the go; most are either limited to certain locations or require you to open a cumbersome menu first that doesn't work well mid-combat. And the almost TD-focused gameplay was another thing that made it stand out among zombie games. Base defense was a dime a dozen, but as you pointed out, it slowly evolved beyond simple base defense in a reasonably organic way.
I found your channel because I’m also playing every MGS game leading up to Delta. Previously I had played and finished MGS2 on the PS2, and absolutely loved it, but that was about it. I took a break from gaming for much of the 2010’s, coming back during covid and playing catch up. When I played Death Stranding I had only heard of Kojima in passing and knew little about him. So I came in not a fanboy, and without the baggage that came with the Konami fallout. Honestly it was not the disaster people made it out to be. If you love Phantom Pain and it’s mechanics, you’ll probably have fun with this game. It has some good ideas and recycles the rest. And from what I understand Konami only sold it for 30 bucks which is some real restraint for Konami. I also think this was all they could do with the IP. A standalone experience as a new narrative driven game would have been the real slap in the face to Kojima’s legacy. It doesn’t feel malicious or a cash grab. When a creator signs away their IP rights this is what they sign up for. It being so soon is what likely made it feel so much worse. That being said, it’s not the greatest game I’ve ever played and it’s the worst Metal Gear game. But I didn’t hate my time with it. I was honestly happy to jump in with MGSV’s core mechanics in a new game again. I don’t think it would be remembered today, but I think a lot of people would have enjoyed this at launch that never gave it a shot. And given it’s the last piece of new Metal Gear content we’ll ever see, we’re far enough removed now that it’s well worth a dive if you can find it on sale or are looking for something to play. I get the sentiment over how that whole thing went down, but the game itself is way overhated. And the creature designer of Silent Hill (the guy who made the iconic Pyrimid Head) designed the monsters here, which is pretty cool.
Great neutral take. Thaks. I would love an experience sum up video at the end of this retrospective, to touch on the whole story and how the whole holds together after having played all of them.
I didn't even hate the concept like other MGS fans did back in the day, but I just couldn't get past how fast literally everything drained and the computer constantly yelling at you to drink, eat, fuel things etc. It really took me out of it even being a survival game and it just felt like nonstop busy work with a super annoying side kick.
I don't doubt that the negative press around this game when it was first announced likely stopped a lot of people from playing it who might've otherwise enjoyed it for what it is. Some of that coverage was warranted, though I think ultimately it suffered from coming out at the wrong time - with Kojima's departure, it'd be impossible to shake the impression that Konami was just trying to make a cash grab with his series. I'm kinda reminded of the negative perception that Metal Gear Rising got when it first came out, where people weren't a fan of its radically different tone and gameplay, but it's now become a fan favorite. I don't think this game would've had the chance of rising to Rising's level of popularity (pun partially intended), but I'm a player who's often disappointed by the lack of real defensive battles in games. More often than not, the game will tell you "hold out for a while" but it'll just be the same sort of battles you've been fighting up to that point, but under a timer. The way you described some of the base defenses here, I could see myself having a good time with the game.
I wanted to play this when it came out but it being online only kept me from buying it. Thank you for covering the story. I wish they would have released an offline version.
Seems like a lot of the end/after game stuff should have been worked into the natural progression of the main game. The microtransaction issue and the fact that things got saved for post-game make me think some money-grubbing higher-up influence helped wreck what with a bit more time in the oven could have been a great game.
Survive was my first foray into the Metal Gear franchise. So far, I only played it and mgsv, but I consider myself a fan. I should probably go out of my way to play the earlier games, though, to actualize my fandom. I distinctly remember jokingly calling Survive the first strand-type game. Lol.
This was such a great personal retrospective series, I’m gonna miss seeing new entries of this video series but thanks for the wild ride and I’m glad you’ve become a big MGS fan just in time for Delta Konami is really going all out for this game franchise this decade making it the absolute BEST TIME to be a MGS fan!
I just wish the maps were bigger. The first one is pretty decent but beginner and the second is almost linear. I don’t think either maps do the game justice.
I played the game and while I don't think it's a good Metal Gear game, it's a good survival horror stealth action game using the Metal Gear Solid V engine and gameplay. I think on it's own merit, it's a great game. It really plays well and is a challenging game that really tests you and your knowledge of stealth and survival. I honestly wish they would add the extra maps to the main game and let the game play in Offline mode.
Nice video bro. Actually concise and to the point. Nice pacing, kept me involved through the whole video after not knowing much about the game but playing it for only a few hours I agree with your opinion 😂
Maybe this game would not have been to bad IF they left out the frankly predatory micro transactions and IF they had not slapped the MGS brand onto it.
Solid information, very well put together, however the odd cadence of the speech with the constant upward inflections was incredibly distracting. I found myself focusing on that instead of the words being said.
Fuck me mate you are a breath of fresh air. Its so awesome to find a youtube who focuses on the positives of games. Like i love games that most people consider bad or considered bad. Cyberpunk, mass effect andromeda, MGS survive. So its nice to see games i enjoy not getting just beaten to a pulp by people who have no clue what they are talking about. Like yes cyberpunk had a rocky start for some. ( not for me ) yes mass effect andromedas animations where jank and they gave up on it after a while. But fuck man just enjoy things for what they are you know. So thanks mate i really enjoyed this
It's always nice to see another person who likes to see the positives in the games they play. Some of my favourite games are generally disliked or even hated such as Dark Souls 2. A lot of people forget that enjoying games is still subjective at the end of the day.
ngl i actually have roughly double the amount of hours in this than in the phantom pain lmao, iv even beaten tpp 3 times so... Watching this vid has made me reinstall it to try it again since i didnt play any of the post game I just logged into the game, and it still had my character saved in the servers, im lvl 53 with red tier armor and guns, my base is pretty small and i only have like 6 staff members but have a crapton of supplies. While walking around and gathering stuff from my farms and animals i just remembered how great the movement feels in this game; the only game that iv played that also has the same feeling is Helldivers 2. Also i somehow only have 60% of the afgan map mapped out.
thank you for making it objectively like that, even though i hate the gameplay shift they took on the game, it was still a story to be told. the multiplayer mode from what i had been playing is basically the route defence mission in limited areas not that much more or less. i don't exactly know why but i felt verry limited in the recources i managed to scrape together on my singleplayer playthrough and even barely made it to the end, but the post credits, darn it may it be for peace walker beeing the first metal gear for me but darn it i love that badass ai pod
This game hasn't been financially viable for 6 AND A HALF YEAR'S! I think it will be fine for a few more, dunno why considering Concord got shut down after being considered a failure in only a week ish and yet this game still SurVives
This game had a really good concept, and if they managed to make a better campaign, as well as improve the survival mechanics to be more like Project Zomboid, for example, it could've been great.
I supported survive at launch , and I don't regret it , it was a solid game at the time and it's actually a lot of fun for me who knew what I was in for , at the time of launch it was the most feature complete survival game that was produced and for a 40 usd price point it wasn't bad
Watching your video on this makes me think Survive was designed to be more of an MMO than anything. This game feels like Once Human in terms of survival mechanics
Good vid. The biggest downside to this game is the very slow progression in the first half of the game. I could see how people bowed out early. Go and watch reviews from when the game released. Almost none of the reviews' gameplay show beyond the first couple of 'tutorial' missions. Movement is slow, dealing with Wanderers is too tedious, the hunger system is a little too brutal for most people who aren't used to survival mechanic games. But the mid to late part of the single-player is pretty fun once you build up your stamina, unlock gardening and animal farms and gain access to more weapons. There's strategy to exploration and multiple choices to make in terms of progression: you can go search already-explored areas for more respawned supplies, explore the unknown to find hidden goodies, press to the next story-progression event, do some online matches to unlock far superior loot and resources, go farm Wanderers for Kuban to level up or do a base dig for special unlocks. The only drawback is the monetization is a bit overbearing. Game tries hard to get you to spend money to speed up some of the in-game timers and unlocking additional exploration units. To me, this hurt the game more than anything else. The multiplayer was extremely fun when you could get a full squad. Frankly, it was the best mp of any Metal Gear game. Again, lot of strategy, get a ton of loot and there's a lot of fan service to it. Nothing like doing the hard or extreme missions and calling in Metal Gear Ray to wipe a zombie hoard. Survive features the most diverse set of Metal Gears in any MG game: Rex, Ray, Shagohod and Sally. Unlocked all the special uniforms like Naked Snake, Eva, The Boss and Ocelot skins and gestures. Wish we had unlockabes like that for MGSV:PP. Speaking of, this game and PP are prime examples of the correlation between expectations and enjoyment. I had more fun playing Survive than I did playing PP because I had way more expectations for PP than Survive. PP was so boring and disappointing to me and Survive was semi-mindless fun. And I say that as an old dude who's played MG games since the 80s. I wish there was a cult following for it. I miss the multiplayer.
I truly believe that if this game had any other title (and was therefore not prejudged negatively), it would have been one of those minor hits that had a sequel that would have exploded into a franchise remembered forever, like what happened to Assassin's Creed.
I dont believe it would have worked. If they used the MGS title, it would be suffer all it did, we know the story. If it didn't used the name, people would see it is a random game that reused a bunch of assets from kojima last game before departing ways with konami, and it would be another shitshow. They had a lose-lose situation in their hands
Since you're speaking from a new player's perspective I suppose it's fair to mention that the story mode was an afterthought to Survive. The main point of the game was the co-op mode. Which you didn't get to experience which is a very big shame because it is the best part. It is also remarkably varied because of what you said with subclasses too. There was also cool tech like the leg sweep being able to kick mortar's grenades back or away from the digger. And also since you didn't experience it, Co-op could get really cool because you could summon iirc, MG Ray, Rex, Geckos, and one more as a support ability. And fighting along Metal Gears if even for one massive attack or not, I have yet to experience again in another game of this or a similar genre.
Honestly, I really wanted to like this game. I actually played it up to the holdout mission before getting sent to the Africa map. I just could not get myself to continue because of the obvious grind, predatory mtx, and the lack of people playing multiplayer. Not to mention my PS Plus was only a couple weeks away till it expired and I didn't want to renew it anymore. This was around 2020.
I was one of the few people who actually enjoyed survive back when it just came out , even back then there's also disparity between player base because there's no cross-play in this games , and word is playstation is the most populated platform , it's infinitely much easier to find a player on PS4 than PC (or xbox one) i had a blast with Survive , put in 500+ hours into it practically maxed out everything and owned every gear game has one of the most painful thing about MP thing is there's very little amount of content , i believed they never added new map into the games we do get few cool events though , like silent hill and MGS4 cross over where you can earn pyramid head as head costume and able to pilot Metal Gear Rex we get very small amount of content updates like new difficulty of MP (extreme mode) new enemy and new weapon , but there's no actual real new content like new maps , so games dried out pretty fast.
I simply refuse to accept they transformed the masterpiece that was MGSV in an MMO-like "zombie" survival generic AAA game. this game is best left forgotten
I bought it some time ago and this is one of my favourite survival games and games overall. I just wish that game would drop online stuff and convert everything into completely single player game. Difficulty is good, exploration is great, survival is interesting and engaging, story even though is somewhat predictable it has some neat moments like with goodluck. This game have unfortunate of being in bad place in bad time, also micro transactions like paid save slots didn’t help the game.
I really did enjoy playing this game. I’m glad someone finally giving it a fair review, instead of playing the game when already made their mind that they hate even before starting.
I still love the fact that they forced the man out of his own work, because he was to popular and was to slow for what should be a slow process ( games shouldn’t be forced out every 3 years, give me star citizen where I hope it comes out in 2035 earliest, or 2050 so I can play it one day in my life. ) , after forcing the man out they then try to cash grab at his works, and it failed… then they try to remaster them which was not good on launch was horrid! And then just recently said man it be wild to have the og come back and make a game with us….. 😂
Never got far into the story yet, partly because i suck lol, partly because other games released that had priority. I think im just after saving the nurse, one day i get too my backöog and hopefully finish it.
I would totally play this if it was completely free, playable offline, had 3 friends that also played, and the timers were completely removed from the game. :P As it currently stands though, I'll never play it. Kind of a shame cause its not terrible and could be fun. I'm not willing to spend money on it though.
I (kinda) enjoyed the game, but never wanted to finished it... There are elements in it that I liked: the base building, collecting materials plus the MGSV mechanics is a great system to use, but after all those grueling grind to build my base on the dessert map fighting off the waves of enemies at the end of the first chapter only to be sucked up by the worm hole and spitted out on a jungle map to REPEAT THE SAME THING, it put me off and never played it again, I saw where it was gonna go.
