In Torbe Funem Vint
(In a Sack Made of Wind)
A barefoot wanderer on a stone in evening-gold / brushes off the world’s dust. A bird hops / from the woods to snatch the last crumb of sun. / There’s a willow by the river, too. A road, a field, /
a dewy meadow, homesick footsteps of hungry / clouds. There’s a lively fiddle, too. Where / are the hands that shape these wonders? / And what can you do in such a moment / but gather, in a sack made of wind, / the red beauty of it all, & take it / home for supper? And there’s loneliness, / like a mountain, too.
