It was a little confusing for me as well, the way Cole is treated for his adultery -- but in the US, until the mid-20th century, adultery was considered a crime. LA Noire takes place in the late 40s, so they might have been phasing those laws out, but was still a big enough deal that getting caught cheating on your wife could ruin your career

If I were to guess it probably also had something to do with the person he was cheating on being German as well, I don’t know enough about the period to confidently say whether or not this was in fact the case but I can imagine that in the recent aftermath of WorldWar 2, a time period where there were still ‘white only’ diners, people didn’t have the highest opinions of Italians, the Japanese, and of course Germans.

Aside from the actual laws criminalising adultery back then, Cole was specifically built up as a celebrity. A well-spoken, well-educated, young, good-looking, decorated ex-soldier who'd come back from WW II and reintegrated back into civilian society, with a wife and children? It's small wonder the LA press ate him and his success up. Every single one of his cases would have been in the papers. So the scandal of him having an affair with a German refugee would've been huge, and even more so when there are other big forces actively working to smear his reputation to draw heat away from their own crimes. The biggest problem I have with this whole plot was that Cole was actually sleeping with Elsa, rather than just being falsely accused. Everything else at least has a rational explanation behind it, while we know nothing of Cole's personal life beyond work, so it's hard to figure out why he would be having an affair at all.

Adultery was a much larger issue back then & much more heavily stigmatized. And it's in the papers because Phelps was in the spotlight for a long time. He was the departments top man.

I think the reason the affair is such a big deal is because Cole was a bit of a local celebrity by then. Peds comment about some of the big cases he's solved and how he's sorta become the face of the LCPD as the quintessential "good cop". And hell, there are still tabloids that make a killing reporting on stuff like this. In the US there was a case recently of some lady cop who had an affair with like 5 other cops or something and the whole time I was thinking "why the hell is this national news exactly?". In a much more conservative time you can imagine how much more scandalous it would be. That plus the lingering anti-German sentiment from the war just made it even worse. And oh yeah, at this point adultery was actually a crime. He'd certainly be fired if convicted, which is why he's been put on the worst assignment as punishment while it's still ongoing.

I just have an idea for this year's kill everyone challenge. it's really CRAZY! Apparently, you did kill everyone challenge twice in Hokkaido where everyone got the infection in patient zero mode, Now for this year my suggestion is for you to play it again but this time it might be shocking for you. If you leave the NPCs for two or three minutes, they will get the infection and turn it to be a red mark on them like the main targets, and you have to eliminate them. But what if you allow everybody on the map to be a target? This is insane, you got to kill them all like the main targets, and for the guys who are wearing a hazmat suit, just disguise and exchange the clothes, by the end of the video it will be "Silent Assassin Kill Everyone Challenge"

Recently here in the states a female officer in, I think, Arkansas or Tennessee slept with five different officers in her department. That made the news. Then there was another story about an officer and his mistress having a go in the back of his patrol car while parked right next to a school. A private affair between an officer and a mistress who are not coworkers or doing it next to a school, that wouldn't make the headlines. All they'd have is a brief mention that they're being suspended on the town's local news channel.

Anarcho-communists despise other communists, like Maoists, Bolsheviks, etc. Any ideology with an ideal of strong central government. They fought on the same side in the Spanish Civil War but refused to be a part of the same volunteer division. There are the crazy ones, but most an-com militants will target government structures or infrastructure. Not random civilian homes. There's an an-com movement in Russia right now tearing up the railways and damaging military equipment and infrastructure. It's possible they even destroyed a very important reconnaissance plane.

Ambulance shootings are definitely a thing. If a member of a gang is the patient, members of a rival gang will attempt to kill them in transit to the hospital. I'm not sure how common it is nowadays, but it happened back in this time period.

I have actually watched all seasons of TWD and I absolutely hated it. In retrospect, the only thing that was reasonably good were the combat scenes and maybe a couple of characters I liked. The storyline was just shit, someone wants to kill us -> we kill them -> repeat. And probably the worst thing for me, the forced "we're the good guys" narrative. If I could have that time back, I'd rather watch Mindhunter 5 more times Btw, love your brother's band. It will probably be joining my playlist soon
