I wonder if the Whitewind might have also influenced the Klingons to design their heavy bird of prey?

One of my favorite Romulan designs - but so odd to think it's as old as it is. It looks so much more modern than the V-8 / T'Liss. The (V-10?) Battlehawk, from SFC3, is also pretty neat.

The Romulan V-7 Aye Mosaram, aka Whitewind class is one of my favorite Romulan ships.

If the V7 Whitewind is the Romulan version of the Miranda, I wonder what the Romulan version of the Nebula is? Overall, it is a nice simple attack ship, over time I've come to appreciate it as a viable late-23rd/early-24th century Romulan ship.

Some of the cruiser numbers seem odd, and make me wonder if they were misnumbered. V-1,2, and 5 look to be of the same era of design. Same for the V-6, 8, and 9. But the V-4 and V-7 share design traits with the V-27 and V-30. And there are no 12-19 and 21-26. About to watch, may edit after I see your take.

I always have good luck with the Whitewind in FASA battles. Not OP. Not weak. Good enough. And it's pretty too.

Tow one of them old ships off the gunnery range to the nearest Ferenginar Shipyard facility. Be ready to pay a percentage in advance of service. They do have the best you can buy or they can get it for 2 percent more off the top. All Deals are Final. And a 20% discount for first time buyers on the best hollo system on the market.

Are you telling me the disadvanced romulan ship with its advanced energy weapons don't have their disruptors on gimbals or you know so they can turn a little bit to Cannon can turn inward a little bit or go down a few degrees or you know they can't change the horizontal or vertical of the candidate at all that's ridiculous that it's fixed
@thehillbillygamer2183
@thehillbillygamer2183 2 года назад
Why don't they just have these long range disruptors on gimbles where they can just you know tilt them slightly in more of a triangle pattern you know towards the front nose I mean they should build a maneuver these guns on gambles you know like turn them in a few degrees or out or down so that's just ridiculous that they can't if they're completely fixed that you can't turn them in like that no I can think it just turn them in to where that both beams you know hit around the same area that would even be better too

The Winged Defender seamed like the spiritual successor to the T'lis. Probably operated solo, struck from cloak with overwhelming force and then cloaked wile heavy plasma weapons recharged. The antimatter power plant giving it much more staying power, speed and range, though still not designed for a prolonged fight, to light and flimsy. Could most likely reliably take out heavy cruisers like constitutions, mirandas, and ktingas with successful ambushes. The White Wind is more of a brawler, support ship and meant to be part of a squadron and to draw fire wile ambushers like the winged defender lined up attack runs. The use of cloaking in combat probably the most limited since the invention of the cloak, in a fight only used to help a damaged ship disengage. With no heavy weapons to speak of, just a mix of light projectile, long and short range energy weapons, much more of its power generation can be devoted to shields and engines. Wile only in the weight class of a destroyer of small light cruiser, its able to survive incoming fire unheard of for its size compared to older romulan ships. Its use and tactics similar to the klingon b'rel, only at a destroyer size rather than a corvette/attack ship/torpedo boat size, perhaps inspiring larger klingon type BoPs, like the Norgh from STO (an art upgrade to the large Kvort BoPs seen in TNG, imo.).
@venomgeekmedia9886
@venomgeekmedia9886 2 года назад
Yeah well it certainly outgunned the b'rel class. So it would make sense if it was the reason why kvort was built.

Would they have built any new ones during the Dominion war or were they all mothballed ships recommissioned?

There were a decent number back in the day. But given that they were used widely and would have to replace losses. More probably were built.

Wondering if down the line you might want to do a video on Starfleet doctrine over the 23rd century. We have a lot over the Dominion War, the Borg tactics, the Romulan War.. But nothing beyond a lot of ship breakdowns from the 23rd century. This was the era when Starfleet had learned the lessons of conflict and was if need be an aggressive power ready to defend itself. So I would be curious in seeing how they planned to fight during this time.

Looking forwards to it! We've not seen how the Federation fights in quite awhile. I'm interested in the era where they knew how to handle themselves and weren't having to build up doctrine, technology, and tactics through desperation, loss, and experience. I'm enjoying looking forwards to seeing how they planned to conduct war in the era where they had learned lessons and had to apply them.

The Romulans seem to be the most adaptable in terms of ship engineering out of the three major powers in the Alpha and Beta quadrants. They understand how to make new designs based on shifting military doctrine very well, and the V-7 Whitewind looks like it would perform fantastically. The Federation has an equal measure of adaptability in other areas. Especially in deep space exploration and scientific pursuits, but they've shown to be more than capable of designing monsters of warships when pressed. The Klingons on the other hand prefer to stick with what they do best, and they at least do it very well: Build a ship of any size and class with focused weapon emplacements at the bow, and make sure they have plenty of hull armour to withstand a beating. It's really interesting to compare how each of those three nations approach specific problems with their warships.

Every time someone does a video on these Fasa era shops bring back memories of high school and after school/weekend Starfleet battles TNG had just came out. We spent hours dewing up new ships, modifying rulss, and refining campaigns. Ah to be young and imaginative Time well spent no cell phones, no PCs/iPads/laptop and the only smart device around was a Clapper! Absolutely Medieval!!!

I think that these Wing mounted long range disruptors would be on gimbles or on something so they can turn you know inward slightly so that both beams would hit say the same area like when it was targeting the Enterprise they could they could turn in so that both beans would hit the center of the saucer

You would think that given the limited engagement range, they would have quickly modified the weapon's mounts to give them more flexibility. It would lose every time in a knife fight.
@weldonwin
@weldonwin 2 года назад
It still has the light disruptors in the shoulders, which while having low damage per shot, are rapid fire and she has four of them, so they can lay down considerable pain with those, in addition to still having a warhead launcher. She's not exactly helpless at shorter range, especially considering her agility
@venomgeekmedia9886
@venomgeekmedia9886 2 года назад
Exactly. And it's quick enough to manage its range in an engagement so it shouldn't be closed down that easily.
