Edinburgh, we will be back! 2 days was just enough to scratch the surface of all this amazing city has to offer. We love how walkable Edinburgh is which made sightseeing pretty easy. Highly recommend the underground vaults tour as well as hiking Arthur's Seat where the city views are fantastic. Can't wait to go back someday.
Elder York Guest House: Highly recommend! Yummy breakfast is also included.

We have wonderful Haggis breading farms to keep them all happy and taisty. Wild Haggis are bugers to catch so yes to farmed. Neep and tatties are also fantastic.

You could have stopped off in York, an amazing medieval city with loads to see and do.

Some nice video captures. And nice that you enjoyed your visit to the city I love. Too bad you only explored the immediate vicinity of the Old Town and not the New Town, which a whole other world...like a totally different city of Georgian architecture, cobbled streets, some great shopping, excellent galleries.... Hopefully you will return and do that. A few points for your viewers: - Everything in Edinburgh that a visitor might want to see (though there is also so much more worth seeing) is within walking distance, which is worth noting. From the Palace of Holyrood House (House of the Holy Cross) to the Gallery of Modern Art (One and Two - not in your video) is about an hour...with a world of discovery in between including the New Town, Dean Village, Stockbridge (village with great eats and independent shops), Circus Lane, St. Stephen Street, Saxe Coburg Place, the colony homes on Glenogle Road, the Royal Botanic Gardens...just wonderful. And all along or adjacent to the Water of Leith, a narrow river that runs through the city and is about a 15 minute walk from Princes Street Gardens. - The Elephant House, which is boarded up in your video due to a fire, is scheduled to open late spring/early summer 2024. JK Rowling sat by the back window, overlooking Greyfriars Kirkyard. Though this popular eatery claims to be the 'birthplace of Harry Potter', that is not the case. Rowling also wrote at another cafe nearby, the name of which, now changed I believe, escapes me. She finished the final volume in the Balmoral Hotel (with the clock tower adjacent to the Waverley Train Station), having moved in to get some peace and quiet rather than writing at home, which was (until she moved to the edge of the city) a 40-minute walk (20-min. by bus) away at Abbotsford Park, a street in the Morningside neighbourhood (a couple minutes from Tesco on Colinton Rd.). - It sounded like 'Stockbridge' was used in reference to the bridge under the vaults. No, Stockbridge is a 30-minute walk away in the New Town. The vaults are mainly under the North Bridge and South Bridge, better known as 'the Bridges', with the former spanning the train station and the latter spanning a ravine carved into the terrain during the ice age. With the exception of a couple arches the bridges are largely concealed by buildings build directly up against them. So, when walking or driving one is unaware of even being on a bridge until there is a break between buildings and an archway carrying traffic beneath is visible. In the 1970s and 80s, rock bands would practice down in those vaults. - You mention witches. There is a rather inconspicuous memorial at the top of the Royal Mile, to the right just prior to the Esplande, the large space in front of the castle. Witches were hanged, burned and drowned (Princes Street Gardens was once the Nor' Loch...the North Lake). Edinburgh's history veered between murderous warfare and modern enlightenment. The latter earned it the title 'the Athens of the North'. So, anyone visiting Edinburgh really should take in the sights of the New Town, going all the way down the hills to the aforementioned places between the Gallery of Modern Art (there are two, across the street from each other) and the Royal Botanic Gardens. That stretch alone is a great day on its own. Cheers!

Can you advise which vault tour you went on, through which company? It seems like there's quite a few to choose from, and some like to throw in some scares as well. I think I wouldn't mind the scares personally, but if I've got a kid or two with me, the tour you took might be better :) Thanks!

Yes there are so many! We booked using the Get Your Guide app which we used for all the tours we did. The vault tour company was specifically Auld Reekie Tours. Very reasonably priced and enjoyable! They did through in a couple scares but nothing too intense in our opinion.

Why do Yanks seem to have an obsession with the Dead in the UK 🇬🇧. And thank god he ditch Ed the Loud shirt .! That would be better in Hawahii.? Not the UK?

Im sorry Max that you didn’t like the shirt. Sometimes it’s hard for a mother to buy clothes for her son. He said he liked it when I gave it to him for his trip.Probably didn’t want to hurt my feelings. Maybe next time I’ll get it right. Thank you for pointing out my mistake.

Hi, I watched your London trip, Cotswolds trip & Edinburgh trip. History we have in bucket fulls, my only critique is as you were here for only a short time you were cramming too much in especially as you said it was your intention to revisit sometime in the future. History is like a sticky toffee pudding, to be savoured fully enjoyed and consumed slowly. Glad you didn’t stand out like the stero typical American tourists, wearing baseball caps, you both fitted in perfectly. Start saving for your next trip.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧👍
