This is exactly why I purchased the Sigma Pro Mini. So I would be able to check for myself all metal that I receive regardless of where it came from. Most people would rather have more metal than pay for a machine to check it. But without a way to prove what you have you will always have that uncertainty.

When I started stacking years ago I heard to stay away from the bigger bars due to the counterfeiting being higher on them. Im a stacker not a wss person. I tend not to join groups, something always goes astray or they get highjacked. I like the message of making people aware of physical silver.

Thanks for the heads up. Sharing on another silver group I'm on. I 👍 with a previous poster that Jenny should've destroyed the bar. They'll only resell that POS, especially since they won't stand by their product authenticity and only offer refund based on purchase price and not a replacement now that silver spot has gone up.

We as a community try to help each other out and do the right thing A response like that just shows there not a true part of this community but just another turd business with selfish interest. Thank you spegTacular for sharing this information. You are truly one of my favorites . I know it’s not silver gold bull . I’m talking about the Reddit folks . It’s concerning that they didn’t even want to help or get to the bottom of the issue especially when it literally has there name stamped on the bar . Accidents happen so why was there response so bitter. This leaves me with tons of questions.

It's not the 'Reddit folks' it's the ppl that manage/mod their site, and I've never seen Jim in any interview or anything ever act so rude, besides his speech impediment, he has always been classy. These emails - either he was shit-faced drunk, or had someone else send them because he never talks like that. They're making $$, they're getting views, maybe they've all just become a-holes.

99.9% to 96%, huh? It would be pretty hard to do this for just 1 bar, there has to be more, right? Reminds me of when our coins were 90% and then 40%... The Romans diluted their silver coins as well. Hopefully, this isn't a trend. Never wanted to invest in a Sigma, as I always thought about the silver I can buy instead, but makes me want to rethink that.

If a SINGLE legitimate sold bar from any company tests bad, there's a big issue. During every pour (run), the first bar, at least one bar mid run and the very last bar should all be tested so that there is NO QUESTION of how fine your metal is. I'm a hobby artist, and even I use this practice. It's the only/best way to cover your own ass.

Definitely take the bar in question to a LCS with a real XRF gun. Sigmas aren’t perfect, and it would also be nice to know if it’s 96% silver, 99.9, or something totally different.

XRF isn’t 100% accurate either, as it only tests the surface. Speg mentioned that in the video. Alternative testing methods (short of fire assay) would be specific gravity test and ultrasound test. If silver bar in question passes both specific gravity test and ultrasound test, then the silver bar is genuine. If it fails one or both test, you know it’s fake (ie not 999 silver).

@@sirfitz8125 correct, it depends on the sophistication of the criminal counterfeiter. If the counterfeiter is smart, he will make sure his fake bars will pass the XRF test. This is another reason why one should not entirely rely on one testing methodology.

I totally agree with you. But... if there was one bad bar out there, it was probably a bigger batch that have this problem. Now because of spegs thorough investigation, others will check their bars, and perhaps uncover a bigger problem. I’m curious to see how it plays out.

First one of the original WSS moderators, Dmitri, tried to rugpull the billboard money that well surpassed it's goal and thought he could take the money and run. Now we have mods cutting deals with well established and trusted bullion dealers to dilute already extremely high premium bars to not be pure .999 fine silver in an attempt to squeeze more money out of their own followers. Beyond pathetic.

Great video and advice, but I do want to mention that for most metals, Nitric acid isn't the best choice to check for impurities, as silver is unreactive with HNO3. Hydrochloric Acid would be the much better choice, as lead, copper, manganese, nickel, and many other metals get dissolved in HCl, but silver will not. So a better option would be to drill out your metal, weigh it, drop it in HCl, and see if it reacts. Then, compare the weights afterward. However, in the case of tungsten, nitric acid is the better choice, so both acids are useful.

Maybe Jim should come out of his Mother’s basement, and get a taste of what the real world is like. I like what WSS is doing for the Silver markets. Their idea is to bring awareness to the masses, that Precious Metals are important in creating a hedge against the onslaught of money printing, and the subsequent oncoming inflation. We can’t judge the movement based on the ignorance of one fool.

I own a Sigma metalytics machine and found out something very interesting from a technician at the company . A lot of my pre-1960 coins would not register in the bracket . when I put the machine on a pre-1945 setting they all come up registering 90% silver when I asked the technician he explained to me that the coins melted down pre 1945 were reproduced again later in the 50s were not made of the pure silver. I am still not sure what to believe

I didnt buy this silver bar, but what you are doing and pointing out for the community is super critical for people in this market. I do believe there are time when some bad people just want to take advantage of other who put their trust on the company like Silver Gold Bull, who should have done checking each one of the bar before shipping out to their customers, oh well, and now I know who I dont go to buy for my silvers and golds. So SilverTown have melted 96% Britannia coin to make Jenny silver bar. SilverGoldBull need to offer a free bar to her instead of an exchange because she prove you can't only test a percentage of random bar and coin and assuming all the rest are equal. Some product batch can have a few crocked product. BY the way, Google always give money prize when people found weakness of not pur code in their product.

I encourage everyone who has purchased a Wall Street Silver bar from Silver Gold Bull to go and have their bar tested at a reputable dealer who has an accurate and calibrated machine. If there are any issues with the bar, then contact Silver Gold Bull, a highly respected dealer. Every bar I have tested is absolutely three nines silver.

@@Spegtacular People are smart enough to realize they should take their bars if they are in doubt and have them tested by a reputable dealer rather than a video maker who hides behind anonymity to attack others who do not. Moreover, I believe most people realize that Silver Gold Bull is a highly respectable bullion dealer that has a physical address, email address and phone number on their website. Yes, you can actually call these people up and have any issues resolved by them.

Great post. I hold a special level of disgust for overbearing social media moderators who morph into little dictators when given a smidgen of power in their otherwise impotent existence. BTW I have seen a late 19th century gold sovereign test outside the brackets on one of those machines. Supposed to be 91.66% pure, but wouldn't show inside the brackets unless dialed down to the 90% pure setting. Dealer was sure it was a legit coin. Said they see that on some of the old stuff.

I had a similar problem with an Englehard 10 oz and the basic Sigma machine that showed it was slightly out of the the lines to the right. Brought it to a shop with a Sigma Pro and tested it with the reader and the specific gravity by measuring it. The numbers were the top bar read in the orange just before the red 1.79 and the bottom bar in orange just past the green 1.65. It was also confirmed legit at a different shop using an Olympus XRF machine. Look at the directions on the Sigma, it explains the variables that can happen. I would suggest that person take that bar to a shop and get a second opinion.

Thank you for talking about WSS Spegtacular. I'm all for more people getting into precious metals; however, I feel that WSS is selling the idea of "silver to the moon" to people that want to become rich through precious metals overnight. They don't understand you should get into precious metals for the long term. The price of silver has not done much and it seems that those of us who stack consistently have only seen the negative of insane rising premiums. It will be interesting to see how many people who bought silver for the first time will react if silver never rises to their expectations. How quickly and how many of them will sell their silver back at a loss? I will continue to stack slow and steady and hope that the premiums (even if the price of gold and silver rises) come back down.

i also use the ultra sonic meter to test if i hv doubt, it a cheap set and reliable.

Thank you for sharing this video. I have purchased 1700 ounces of silver and 14 ounces of gold since Mid January 2021(including two silver bars in question.) I stopped this video at the the13:20 mark and bought a Sigma Metalytics Precious Metal Verifier PMV Basic Set on eBay to test my silver and gold. I'm extremely disappointed in Jim with Wall Street Silver, and in my book, he's lost all credibility. I just added you to my Subscribe list because when you provide your viewers with the truth... it's priceless!

Had a brown & sharp caliper when I worked in a factory. Loved that thing. So with the refiner that would have to depend on the type of bar I am having the questions about. I couldn’t bring my self to have a rare bar destroyed.

@@Spegtacular I found your video on Australian silver stackers forum. I’m 3 hrs away from SGB. I’ve placed 2 orders since January with them. I buy government coins. Now I don’t know what to think. I was into numismatic coin collecting since 2012. Took a break in 2016 and have started with bullion as a hedge this year. I did like the look of the bar, now I’m really wondering if the silver content has been contaminated from the private mint. I don’t have the spare $ to get a machine and I’m 3 hrs from a lcs, which would be SGB. I got out do to counterfeit products and buying from RCM was way too expensive, this way I was sure of getting a non counterfeit coin! Great work and I just subscribed.

Venezuela. In 2018 people went to bed and silver was 62 bolivars an ounce. They woke up on market open 2 days later it was 462$ an ounce. Within a year it was over a million. Now it’s 71,000,000 an ounce. That is why I bought another batch of silver for 31 an ounce last week.

Did she test it in different areas of the bar, or with the wand? I have found that if the area you are testing is uneven (like part of the design) it can give you a faulty reading.

I stopped buying from Silver Gold Bull about a year ago when they cancelled one of my orders. Customer service had no interest in helping me to reinstate the order, and kept insisting I cold just " reorder it ". The problem was, everything i had on that order was on sale when I ordered it and would cost much more to reorder. I have no interest in dealing with a company with such poor customer service when I've had good outcomes with other online dealers.

The one thing about your video is you don't question the reliability of the Sigma. My RP gold Mexican libertad also tests as not 999 gold on Sigmas. But tests as gold on an X-ray tester. Sure, maybe something is wrong with the bar but I've seen enough inaccuracies from the Sigma to question the device more than a Silver Towne product. Just my two cents Spergie.

There’s several issues with the machine and some of those issues are even identified and disclosed by sigma themselves. I’ve never once seen them say a 10oz bar of pure silver didn’t pass the machine ;)

IDK how their production goes but I assume they make a batch of silver and maybe a batch got mixed wrong or got contaminated with copper or somthing and there will be more out there. Whatever bars were made with this batch are low grade. Rushing to get product out can lead to mistakes..

You can do the specific gravity test without destroying the bar to find out if it's silver as well. At least 90% and above. Maybe it's a lower purity for some reason. I'm sorry for the treatment you received over there. I was shocked to see that. Wow.

The bar would likely be 97% according to Jenny’s test at a local shop with an XRF machine. The specific gravity test is going to be really tight on the numbers but it could be worth a try.
