I have many of the Platinum beginner pens. The Platinum Shooting Star is my favorite of them followed next by the Prefounte. The platinum preppy, prefounte, shooting star, and plasir all use the same nib. Which I found to be kinda cool.

Thank you so much Gail! Does the Prefounte (0.5 nib) produce a thinner line if you use the "other side" (reverse) of the nib to write? And is that just as smooth as using the nib normally? I reverse-write with some of my pens and it lets me introduce line thickness variation to my writing. Thanks again!
Hi! Thanks for your questions and comments. I find that the Prefounte reverse writes fairly well but there is a slight scratchiness to it. It seems a little more dry and is not as smooth, but it really isn’t terrible. Definitely doable but not as pleasant as regular writing.
I have bought an Prefounte (0.5) but I think its very thick for my taste. Though I loved its cap color. I am thinking of buying a thinner nib preppy. Do you think I would be able to swap the barrel and cap of my Prefounte with Preppy?
