This is a PROFOUNDLY underrated movie. Came and went in theaters, Sam Raimi just kind of had to shrug and moved on to Spider-Man. Meanwhile what was left behind is one of the most tense, "keep you guessing" thrillers of steadily mounting catastrophe that I've ever seen. This movie is incredible.
"On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, 90% of 73 reviews of the film were positive, with an average rating of 8.3/10." "Metacritic assigned the film a weighted average score of 82 out of 100, based on 28 reviews from mainstream critics, indicating "universal acclaim". Stop saying shit is underrated when it is literally the complete opposite.
I was just gonna say what an underrated genius Sam Raimi is, but Army of Darkness is my favorite I think the first two instalments of the Evil Dead trilogy are a little overrated. The best thing about them is Bruce Campbell, but they have a certain campy b movie charm Do people actually think these movies are scary?! If so I have some premium ground floor investment opportunities you might be interested in 😅
I know I'm late to the party here, but I just saw the movie, and it was absolutely stunning. The performances were beyond great, and it was both thrilling and heartbreaking at the same time. One of the best movies I've ever seen.
saw first half on a flight 2 months ago and amazon rental for 4$ had too. Phenomenal *SPOILERS*!(Movie is old as most ppl commenting) ending with no $, a dead brother, a dead friend, dead wife, dead everyone …. Obviously he’s stupid as much as his wife and if it were real taking it and going to (maybe not south america as wifey suggests?) but anywhere else lol. these 3 let the money get to their heads and couldn’t enjoy it
@@OllihuAkbar He didn't do it because of the money. He did it because he was loyal to his brother and he just panicked in that situation. His brother told him not to let anyone near the plane and so he tried to stop the farmer. As you could probably tell Jacob had a mental disability so he acted purely based on instincts rather than any reasonable thought process.
this movie has such a great lesson. I watched it when I was 19 while lying about something. It's 13 years later and I still have to fake my lie, wish I listened back then. It's just easier to tell the truth from the start....
@@stevenatkinson1228 Maybe he learned to never lie about such a thing again, be more conscious about what situations we put ourselves in, that doesn’t erase the lie he has already started.
Thornton was nominated for an Oscar for this performance. My buddy (a film snob) called it probably the most honest and realistic acting he'd ever seen.
This movie was magical!! Impeccable performances by everyone.. Especially, the character Jacob just mesmerized me, what an acting by Billy Bob Thornton 👏👏👏
After watching this phenomenal movie you will never look at money the same... Made me understand the wickedness it can bestow on people. Turn friend against friend. Even turn on your own blood with not one bit of give a damn .
Puts things in perspective doesn't it? Was that $4 million really worth all that misery and hassle? I don't think so. I would honestly rather be poor and have a clear conscience than go through something like that.
If I were to find it alone, I would at least keep a Low Profile about it, Keep it hidden very Well & just get some Bills out the Way, wait a couple of Years then maybe get a Nice House, Don’t Flash, Don’t go out too much, just be Normal like nothing is Different, Yes it can be Tempting but gotta use Brain Power
When I started reading the book I literally couldn't put it down, it was like each page was another kick into overdrive. I didn't finish the book until 3:45 in the morning, and even then my adrenaline was pumping so hard I couldn't fall asleep. I've yet to read another book like it.
This was a masterpiece of a movie, great storyline as with performances by Bill Paxton Billy bob Thornton and Bridget Fonda, i really enjoyed this film especially Billy bobs portrayal as Jacob, there's so many films that have come and gone and sometimes some slip past us, while this film is old its new to me because this is my first time knowing about it and having the opportunity to see it and for that im very thankful.👍🏼
Been racking my brains all flippin week, about this film, I had to find "Bill Paxton" from Alien then to a list of all his film to get here, THANK YOU I need to get this brilliant film, nobody knew what I was on about :) xx
The greatest Americana movie ever made since the film "A Place in the Sun". People all over the world could like it, but IMO, you truly have to be an American to appreciate what is going on with the characters because at its core, this film is a profane vision of the American dream. Its well made and well played. A shining moment for all involved in its production.
I saw this movie more than 20 years ago, and somehow last night, I pulled the title out of thin air. This is definitely an underrated movie, and I plan on watching it again this week.
This would make a great companion piece to "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead." Both are stories of people who manage to convince themselves that breaking the law is going to be easy and consequence-free...and then reality comes crashing down on their heads.
I was working at a newspaper in Shakopee and heard they were filming a scene close by at a graveyard. I kick myself for not skipping work to go up and watch.
Greed gets a lot of these guys. Because the one guy had to lie and his lies made him have to face his own demise he couldn't lie anymore. Money is the root of all evil and that's how this movie portrayed most of the time and in the end you'll see that money is the root of all evil. Just a great movie very exciting.
Such a underrated movie, it's as good as fargo !! isn't there was no more bullets in the revolver when Billy Bob Thorntons character tried to commits suicide ?
*Billy Bob Thornton gave a top 5 acting performance in film history. It feels like a documentary of a real person almost ruined by Bill Paxton's usual bad acting. He carried the movie. They should all be so lucky.*
I think everyone has had a dream like this at one time or another. Even I'm not sure what I'd do. Knowing the police - and probably FBI as well - are on the lookout for that cash. It'd be risky beyond belief to tak it without reporting it.
AFTER READING ALL THE RAVING REVIEWS I WAS SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS MOVIE WITH THE 2 MEN IN MY LIFE! Half way through I turned it off and apologized for wasting their time. But it was eating at me days later, and I just HAD to finish the movie to see what all the fuss was about! And it was nothing! Three dumb guys find a wad of cash and end up in bad positions out of greed or stupidity. The End. Don't get it. Now Jojo Rabbit...THAT was a MOVIE!
