I've also noticed, especially for my little toddlers, that when they are grumpy or having a rough day, just a few moments of quiet outside really helps reset. I've taken babies who are crying like crazy outside and sat on a porch and it's like an instant reset. Love our hikes!

When my kids where younger we lived close to the beach and they would look at different things on the beach. It was awesome to watch them enjoy the montier lizards on the beach and they learnt to care for them. We live in the city at the moment but there are natural places 4 us to go. My kids journal on the iPads now. There choice!!! We’ve looked at tadpoles and then they saw our cat take them. I was advised to get rid of our pond when we had kids I’m glad I didn’t listen to them and just put rules in place and a fence for safety

That’s awesome you have a pond!! And that’s a great idea to have the kids journal on the ipad! I didn’t think of that. I’ll have to try it with my middle son who doesn’t like drawing but likes technology 😄

I'll pack two light weight hammocks, so when we hike and we find a clearing, we'll setup camp with our hammocks. It's a great chance for my kids to take a moment, before we hike back to the car-- but that would be a great time to nature journal. I love the books you shared--I'm going to go for it and try it out!

I’ve been studying Sabbath Mood’s special study rotations and nature lore book recommendations. Have you used special studies and object lessons?

I haven't heard of Sabbath Mood! I have used Wonderfilled Days activities and maybe some activities from Cindy West, but I've been keeping it super simple lately :)
