Raccoons don't make a lot of saliva, they normally dip their food in water for that reason.

Those live catch traps make quite a lot of sense in there, having those native mice competing with invasive ones. I remember someone making a image recognizing cat door (webcam, IR illumination and a computer) to allow access only for their own cat. Maybe some kind of sorting device, release the native species and capture the invasive species. Operating continuously that might start eating out the non-domestic ones.

The non-native starlings were not interested in the non-native mice. The natives sure seemed to appreciate it, other than almost needing someone to do the Heimlich maneuver on it.

I'm surprised they didnt kill each other. I've seen them attack one another in one of your past bucket vids, and they had more room then..I figured being cramped would stress them more and it would get "messy ".
