Excellent MR Lloyd, Vauxhall/Opel had some really cool names for their cars in the 1970s, and for the most part, they looked fantastic.

Maybe the British designed Vauxhalls weren't always the most technically sophisticated cars, but they did have some good designers.

I enjoyed seeing the Vivas and the BL Wedges. Stunning 1974 Granada too - one of the very first Ghias.

That is absolutely correct, registered June 1974. Got a lot more Granadas coming up over the course of the nine videos too.

My dad and I own the Magnum Sports hatch, at the beginning of the video. They were only made in that colour, tartan interior with the 2.3 slant 4 with a 4-speed gearbox! Glad you didn’t call it a chevette!

Having driven a 1981 Chevette HSR two years ago, I am quite aware of not getting things like that wrong! The Sports Hatch is absolutely fantastic, thank you ever so much indeed for watching and commenting.

Some terrific old cars there, the Vauxhall at the beginning of the video was exported to Australia and badged as a Torana also designated as the HB. I didn't know the MG 6 came as a soft top we did get them but only as hard tops as far as I know.

Well, there are seven more parts to come from this show, and yes, the HB Vauxhall Viva did indeed form the basis for the first Holden Torana.

Love a droop snoot Vauxhall! I'm sure we used to call them 'drop snoot' back in the day. Wayne Cherry from the US was the designer of these and he did the Chevette and Cavaliers too.
@lloydvehicleconsulting

That's exactly what their official name seems to be. You are absolutely right, all of those were Wayne Cherry designs.

Thank you very much indeed for watching and commenting! Vauxhall's branding in the 1970s was certainly very confusing. A lovely car nevertheless!

The Vauxhall Magnum was a cool car at the time whether 1800 or 2300 and the HC Viva 1800 was popular with Company Representatives. The HB was famous for the Green Cross Code Advert for television. Crayford and Carbodies did some great work. The Beardmore Taxi was very flashy indeed. The Princess came in some very fetching colours and should have been a class leader. I think you should try a 3 litre S Capri and compare it to the 2.8 Injection maybe the earlier car's brakes are more up to performance. The Series 3 Allegro does look like a fine car with the A plus 1.3. The Dodge Ram Van is a very old design for 1998 isn't it Sir. I travelled in 1977 Toyota Carina like the orange one here. It was metallic blue and its vinyl seats were also metallic blue.

I will have to look up the Green Cross Code advert with the HB Viva in it, sir. I would very much like to try a Capri 3.0S, sir, for the full Lewis Collins experience. Thank you again for watching!
