Great review, Simon! When they asked me to review this, I did tell the manager that the biggest problem with B&R is that they've almost been absent from watch media and YT scene. They definitely have a market and I have seen quite a few wrists rocking a B&R here in Malaysia. But reducing the case size will go a long way as you rightfully stated 🙌

Thanks so much man! I also really enjoyed your video on this one. I think in the UK B&R are embracing the RU-vid/influencer community but I'm not sure if the same can be said globally. They're cool watches and it's great that they now have more models for those of us with smaller wrists.

I like that copper dial with the blue accents and also the way the indices are engraved into the dial. All in all I like these, but I'm not sure how often I'd wear one. Love the new set using the kitchen. great look and lighting Simon!

Cheers Mike, that copper dial does look cool but gives it much more of a dress-watch vibe. We moved house a few weeks ago hence the new 'set' 😂 The kitchen is the most finished part of the house and if I turned the camera around you'd see bare floors and lots of boxes!!

I’ve had one for about 7 years and worn it in all environments including diving. I have a 7” wrist and never considered it too large. With the new one being 1mm wider, that’s 20 thousandths of an inch each side - the size difference is negligible. These reviews are trying very hard to pump up these subtle changes. I’ll stick with mine thanks. Still looks brand new and feels amazing.

Do you have the ceramic case? Has has the case stood up well after all these years? Minimal scratches?

Hi mate. I have a steel version black with white numerals. Not one scratch. I’ve renovated a beach house and replaced a full plumbing system with this tool watch. I bought it with about 4 straps. I’ve used the Velcro one for 90% of the time. And just recently using the rubber strap a lot. Although the tan leather version I have is great, I haven’t been there yet.

I have skinny wrists but I've never had any issues wearing large watches ie greater than or equal to 42 mm. In fact I used to own the old br03-92.

Interesting review, I completely agree about the ceramic case, I would be worried changing straps let alone dropping it! I don't understand why the don't change the case design to suit the material properties, the tiny lugs with 90° angles where they leave the case are a weak point and it is obvious where stresses are going to create cracks in the ceramic.

Thanks buddy and you make an interesting point about the lugs. I'm always incredibly careful with my BB Ceramic as I know that if I drop it, it's probably game over.

Yes, I agree that ceramic is not ideal for a military watch. Titanium is the best.

I have the steel version, such an awesome watch. The smaller 1mm really makes a difference than my older BR03. I also appreciate the longer 54 hours power reserve.

I absolutely agree. I couldn't have worn the previous model and the movement upgrade brings the power reserve in line with a lot of others in this price range. What colour dial did you go for?

@@Escapement24 I got the black dial. The AD have every model in stock and I had a chance to inspect and try on the copper dial. The classic steel black dial has been in my radar for a while, so I decided to pull the trigger on it. B&R is one of a few brands now where ADs have most models in stock and you can still experience the fun of choosing and walking out with the watch that you want instead of putting you on a waiting list.

As a big wristed freak, I'm happy with my 42mm version but good to see the love can now be shared by normies. I'm still upset though that they've used fake screws rather than the real ones on the original Instrument series.

The ones on the bottom are real screws and they locate into threaded square fasteners which hold the watch together, similar to the Royal Oak. The slot cut into the top of the fastener serves no purpose as the fastener is square and in a square hole so can't rotate anyway. On the original watches, the case was only in two parts and so the screws on the dial side threaded into the case back and so did not align. Much more authentic.

I bought a brs heritage quartz because the autos were too big for me, now wearing a tudor pelagos 39mm (great looking watch but too mainstream) I miss my bell and ross, I would sit and stare at the dial and paint sometimes appreciating the design. If they release some more interesting dial options for this new size I think I'll pass on the rolex and get these instead. I love the aviation design language.

Even on small wrists, the 42mm seems more genuinely a Bell&Ross watch.... that 1mm less, makes it seem less authentic to the brand

I quite like this watch except I already have a Sinn 856 S UTC which is basically a circular version of this B&R. IMO it’s a bit overpriced compared to my Sinn, which l purchased in 2018 for £1,350.

The wide rubber straps make this and their other watches rather cumbersome. Their velcro strap on the other hand makes a vast difference to wear size - much neater, even unobtrusive on even a small wrist. My wrist is a fairly small 160cm and with my B&R velcro wrap strap my older model BR 03 GMT looks perfect on it.
