How do we feel about Bell & Ross? New size, BR03 Copper 

I've learned that "specs on paper" is kind of a dumb thing When the Doxa sub 200 was announced it really caught my eye, but I've always had been a person that needs the perfect specs for a watch, so the sub 200 didn't "check all the boxes" for me But somehow I was still coming back to it, watching reviews and videos about it because I liked the watch. I never bought it because I thought "for that money I can get something with MUCH better specifications" Until this year that I got one for my birthday and realized that the perfect specs don't matter. Unlike those "perfect on paper" watches that I eventually sold, the Doxa checks the box that says "I like this watch"

2nd only to Hublot in the Trigger Watch Snob sweepstakes. You chose the right colour. I'm picturing that in my 12 slot rotation box and know i'd end up picking it a stupid number of times.

I will never buy another Bell & Ross again after their Customer Service Rep told me “well we have no control over that” after I complained about my B&R rubber strap breaking in half under normal use conditions. B&R refused to replace the strap, which is a problem. I sold both of my B&Rs and will not buy one ever again. That said, I think their designs are cool and I love the style of your videos.

I've always liked Bell and Ross since seeing their ads in the back of Car and Driver magazines as a kid. I just wish they would do this in a 37 or 38mm case. And for me with a 6.25" wrist it _is_ a matter of wrist size. I don't like wearing watches where the strap comes straight down out of the lugs or god forbid goes back on itself.

This piece is an instant classic! Bell&Ross needs to seriously think about its pricing though. The brand would take off if they sell at half that price. $4k is just too much for what's inside here.

Own a grey lum 42mm. Striking, great quality, strong lume

I love both Panerai and B&R. I have almost a dozen split between the two brands. I thought the BR03 at 42mm was the perfect size. The 46mm was too big, even for me. The BR03's definitely wear much larger than a 42mm, but I'm a fan of larger watches. I have large wrists and well above average height and build. I am thinking of letting my SD43 go to a new home as I find it a tad too small for my tastes. Anyhoo... I tried this watch on a few weeks ago. I noticed the 41mm size immediately. It is not unwearable at 41mm, but borderline. The copper with the blued hands is truly outstanding! I may just have to place this watch on the acquisition list. Are B&R worth RRP? Not so much. I tend to pick them for closer to 50% of RRP. At those prices, I think you are getting a lot of watch. The movements I've owned over many different B&R are all darn near COSC performance. The overall quality of the watch is every bit on par with something like a Tudor. If you like the design, and can get a fair price, no reason to steer clear of this brand.

"we", feel awesome about B&R in general.. looks so good on these vids and pics. HOWEVER. Once you wear any similar model, I bet, you *know* that it really is a show-off piece. (and others do know. And do notice.) On this vid, wow, how thin it is, @1:12 👍

i kind of want this with the heritage strap, but the heritage is a 92 IIRC, it's gorgeous. But Heritage over this? Tough call, which would you go with ?

I love B&R - great distinctive style and design - and very good quality - I think they seem to cop a lot of unwarranted criticism

I've always liked B&R and the size of them has never bothered me. I have the B&R 03 92 quartz version and the round Aeronovale with a brass case. The quart watch has a small seconds subdial and a case size similar to or slightly smaller than that discussed.

Since they wear larger than their sizes anyway, if they made it 38 or 39mm it think it would have been a very interesting direction for the brand.

I'm not into that design language, but I respect it. It has a cool, even though it's not my kind of cool.

Love the comment on 'fit and finish.' This phrase is tossed around by nearly every RU-vid reviewer and when I hear, the watch has poor fit and finish,' I have to ask, 'relative to what?' I agree that most (ne included) have no idea what this phrase means.

B&R are not my cup of tea, but I’m glad they bring something different in the market.

Excellent review. I love Panerai, so this is definitely my type of watch. Something different. In house movements are overrated. The Tudor Black Bay GMT had an in-house movement and it had an issue with the date wheel since 2019. The wheel gets stuck between dates and Tudor is unable (or unwilling) to fix it until today. People are still complaining about it on the forums in 2023.

I had a fake BR-03. Yes, it was wrong, but I loved it, and the rubber strap lasted the entire 8 years of the battery. Yes it was quartz. I wish I cud afford a real one.....I'd buy it in a hot minute. I have an 8+ inch wrist and it fit great. Like I said, it lasted 8 years, then I smashed it.

4:22 4:22 I tried the 41 mm copper still looks huge on the wrist .these watches look good on display but a definite no on any wrist size. It looks clowny ridiculous .the one and only square watch i would wear if i can afford is a TAG MONACO

B&R watches aren't square just because they think that's the best shape for a watch. They're supposed to evoke an old school altimeter, bolted to the instrument panel (hence the screws). That said, it has to be big, and you just have to love it that way. It wouldn't make sense for an altimeter to be small and dainty, and the watch inspired by one just wouldn't look right if they made it much smaller.

Hold on a second. I thought a manufracture caliber/certified movement was the main reason watchbrands ask for that much money. I like Sellita/third party calibers, dont get me wrong. Without this whole "Exclusive bullshit super complicated caliber stuff" How do they justify those prices? Finish, History?

It’s a cockpit instrument, and you unmounted it and put it on a strap. That’s what the B&R look is all about. Now you can make comparisons with Sinn, since both of them were co-conspirators in the making of instrument watches before they split. But what I’d like to do is throw Reservoir watches into the mix to really tweak with people’s assumptions about how to crossover motorized vehicle instruments as watches.

Like the shape, love the copper dial with blue hands. The brown strap is not my taste and WHY put lume on the hands when there is non on the dial or the bezel? pass.

So instead of a big ugly wqtch, we now have a smaller ugly watch. I keep lookimg at the Bell And Ross line up at my local AD but I just cannot get into the design. The watch and square case is quirky and seems okay finished but the strap widths look ridiculous to me. Not for me this one.

1:09: the screws aren't perfectly turned to the same mirrored position on the back of the watch. Some people would hate this, but I want you to not be a coward and do the same to the screws on the watch face.

New size??!? I thought it was going to be 36mm They went from 42 to 41 lol Nobody put on the 42mm b&r and thought, hmmm I'd buy it if it was a 41mm lol The sizes are a non starter for anyone but people with the largest wrists.

Bell (they don’t deserve to be addressed by their full name) is a cheaper, less refined, more derivative, and less polarizing Hublot for bros in waiting. I have thought about getting an Hublot as an FU watch, but Bell is just an I don’t care about you watch.

Seriously tho, this isn't worth half any small brand doing an in-house movement. Such a sub-par choice to go with the 3rd-party movements... This is really important. Very bad specs.
