We absolutely need to have the Chits with Catherine and Karen on a regular basis. You two are a team made in heaven. Also, I believe it may have been a sparrowhawk in the tree. Not uncommon at all.
Oh my god, I believe we need a monthly chit chat of you and Karen. 🤣 A coffee in the garden chatt. Maybe with a bit off "spot that chicken?"😂 You guys are a treat. Loved it so much.
I loved the chat with Karen. The two of you are SO funny! Watching your gardening videos warms my heart. Earlier today it was snowing again here in Vermont, US. Then the wind came up and was making small snow-tornadoes on the small lake across the street. With 4 feet of snow where my garden goes, it will be a while before I get to planting. Thanks for a good laugh.
Cut your toilet rolls in half. Fill with soil , place your seed in that. Then place in your garden when they are coming up. It will save you a headache. I loved the little walk. Thx I had my first robin and Blue Jay. Everything is blooming. Have fun. 🌺🌲🌺
What could be more enchanting on a Monday morning (NZ) than a tour of beautiful spring flowers in a natural setting and your beautiful garden emerging into summer too Catherine. 👏🌺🌸💐👌🥰
Great video, nice to meet the infamous Karen! 😂 Tip for the leggy seed starts- put a small fan in the room blowing gently for several hours a day. It strengthens your seedlings. I got this tip from Jess over at Roots and Refuge. So nice to hear the sounds of spring in your garden. ❤
Just love watching you and Karen together. Also please let us know how the cleaner works out. I always just pressure wash because I'm afraid of chemicals harming any little critters.
You two!! I’m telling you,so fun. Love all the gardening info! I live in the PNW in the states and always thought our growing season was close to yours but it has been so cold and nasty this spring you are way ahead of us. Thanks ladies!!
Oh God! Speaking of google search history, a few weeks ago you mentioned the shop 'quick crop' but I heard 'quick cr*p' so I was genuinley searching the latter for so long thinking 'what an odd name for a garden shop' until it dawned on me. Its quick CROP. 😂
It's Sunday fun-day in the garden...U knw spring is just around the corner when U hear great bird songs on the background....U both Ladies are awesome great vibes😊💗💗💗
Thank you for cheering me up and putting a smile on my face. You and Karen remind me of my friend Elaine and I. 😂😂😂 Always look forward to your videos...DIY, sewing, Cricut crafts, gardening. Love em all. Take care, have a great week and "see" you in the next video. Now, going over to stalk Karen. See ya.😊
We have in my garden club a twice loved plant trade every couple of years. Can really give a boost to your beds with no cost. Love your visit with Karen.
I'm thinking that was 'Irish coffee' you were drinking lol. You both had me in stitches laughing! Waiting for this hot, humid, wet Sydney summer weather to end so we can venture back into the garden. Yesterday was 34C - that's 93F.
Love me some seed starting! I hope you give soil blocking another go. Some great resources are gardener's workshop and blossom and branch farm. They give good recipes--I prefer the small 3/4 in soil blockers, but the soil composition and moisture matter a lot for both. And to avoid washing the soil away they are all bottom watered with no issue 😊
Lovely vlog. I just use a tray.. mark squares with twine..one seed in middle, then cut soil along twine and spoon out the soil squares with plant once it needs repotting.
You and Karen are great together! I so enjoyed your chat, laughter, and funny puns. Everything is looking beautiful. Thank you for bringing us along on your life journey. Cheeky thumbs up from California. 👍👍👍🐱🐱😂😂❤️❤️❤️🌼🌸🌼🌸
one of the best things about gardening is finding a little sharing community for swapping plant and seedlings. I'm crushingly introverted so it's lovely to have some common ground. Never thought i'd be so into gardening but it keeps you sane.
Love spring and love looking at other gardens. They give me joy. The inspiration and ideas you can get are awesome. They help me figure out placement, combinations, ideas for vertical growing, and how/ what to pop in as fillers. They even introduce me to new plants, and remind me of one's I've forgotten. You talked me into trying heucheras again. And I am happy to say they made it through our hot dry summer last year, and bitter winter. They are peeking through their leaf mold as we speak: ). Speaking of which, Gardener's World is back!!! Thank you girl, I appreciate your videos!
Kathleen, my maiden name was Williamson. Are you in Ireland? I’m told that our Williamson ancestors came to Canada in the mid 1840’s from Bally Newry, Armagh. But whenever I’ve tried to research them there are no Williamsons there.
Oh my you gals are just too much fun, so many laughs with just coffee! Clicked on the link and of course Subscribed to Karen's channel. I've needed to plant my potatoes, as well as start my seeds but on the central coast of California, USA we've been getting a lot of rain which has stalled my planting a few times. Well, chit happens I guess. 😉
Im in the low desert of Arizona in the US. I can pretty much grow year round. So the only new things planted were some blue bachelor buttons. Everything else just got transplanted into bigger pots. We are currently re-modeling the backyard. Expanding the garden to grow more food. Adding a larger greenhouse, chicken coop with run, and a 3 bay composting system. Love the videos! Thanks for sharing
Catherine Here is a little trick I used. I bought several old large baking pans Inside them I used cardboard egg cartons They can be potted into your soil as the little egg cartons are biodegrade able ( not the styrofoam) I just used a knife to cut apart the little seedling cups to sow apart or in small groups. I gardened for over 25 years this year since I was 10 years old.
Great vlog Catherine, lovely to see yourself and Karen (who I now follow and enjoy) together ❤ I bought small sweet pea plants and they're about ready to plant out 😊 I was told to keep them in at night for a while.
Holy chit, I’m ready for Spring! I live in Connecticut and our hyacinth are on the verge of blooming! Bring on the ranunculus, tulips, lilacs, and forsythia too! Great video. You and Karen made me LOL!❤️
Hey Catherine, it probably was a sparrowhawk. Also love pergola nurseries, i got the flower max aswell and rang afterwards just to check if it was safe for pets and wildlife and he was such a gent on the phone, answered all my questions and it's safe for animals. Love your and Karen's videos, excited for the growing season ahead x
I have gardened for 30 plus years and grew commercially, There's no need for the soil blocker. You're doing just fine without it Catherine. Looks good.
Lovely to see Karen again,I followed her after you left the link last time😊,the lady has a bigger seed addiction than me😂😂😂. Nice to see your tulips are at the same stage as mine😊 very reassuring Catherine. Thanks for the giggles lots of love ❤❤
So lovely to hear the birds! It's nice to see springtime. Where I live (Minnesota, USA) we are many weeks away from spring. We still have lots of snow on the ground, and possibility of more for the next two months....sigh....hurry up Spring!
I watched The Impatient Gardener YT channel, Seed Starting 101.( Ab 3 yrs ago) She actually has a soil blocking recipe. You mix it well and it holds together very nicely when blocked.
You and Karen were so fun together Catherine!!😂😂 I went over and subscribed to her channel to see what she's up to~ Your garden is coming along brilliantly!!! 🌺🌼🌸🌹🌻🌷💐
Love these. Worth staying up that little bit longer to watch when fresh. I sent my sweetpea out into the garden to fend for itself today because I need the kitchen window sill (it's only little!) space for my other seedlings. Sowed some sunflower seeds with my toddler and started a few chilli 🌶
OMG ladies I know why y’all get along so well you’re laughing and cutting up and having such a great time. No wonder you hang with Karen now I understand lol.
I love laughing with good friends it just comes natural. Just cracking up over anything. I was laughing with ya ladies over the pond in Connecticut 😂❤😊
I'm still a fan of making little paper pots sitting in trays to start my seedlings. Toilet paper rolls are the easiest as you showed. Newspaper ones are super easy to. Just roll into a cylinder around your hand and fold one end closed. I bought 6 of the big foil roasting pans at a dollar store years ago for a dollar each - the kind with the couple inch high plastic lids. I've had to patch the lids in several places where they cracked but they're still going strong. Making the paper starter pots is the stuff you do while watching a movie but it's super fast & easy. Loved the chit you had with Karen! What a fun duo you two are. More - please more of these!!
Pretty sure I saw a large bird swoop into the tree when you first started filming in your garden! Great video! Always so nice to watch on a Sunday evening 😊 (about 8:03 in the video)
This year I tried some different colored flowers that I never knew that they came in white and they are white daffodils and white tulips. I thought it would look awesome in the garden with the other colors that I have. I am on pins and needles waiting for them to bloom to see how they look.
Confession time, I found your channel about a week ago and have binge watched you, all the while drinking copious amounts of coffee! Q1 Did you watch Monty on Friday? Q2 have you thought about growing straw flowers for cut flowers and for drying for your crafts? Q3 I didn't want you to think I was a crazed stalker so didn't thumbs up all the vlogs I watched but will from now on if it helps your channel grow I can go back and do it? I'm going to feel a bit lost this coming week without your chatting to me from the kitchen table while I potter. Keep doing what you are doing 💞
You two are so funny together, I really enjoyed watching this video it’s always so much fun when you tubers get together especially if they are true friends. Started following Karen awhile back after you mentioned her on your channel. Great video as always Catherine ❤
You two are having way too much fun 😂 . How nice you have a garden buddy to swoop stories and seeds😊 Your garden looks beautiful and it soon will be filled with so many blooms and colors, I can't wait 😍!
