In part three I go over each update for the 2023 changes to A Song of Ice and Fire the Miniatures game by Cool Mini or Not for the Baratheon, Targaryen, Greyjoy, and Martell factions.
They also got rid of the big 3 point Relentless attachments. There was already an opinion in the competitive community that the auto wound was better, now with the high point attachment gone and lower sucess rate now it's just an auto wound.
I use Qarl often but I am glad they bumped expert duelist up to 5 because it makes the game fairer. My favorite change is that to blacktyde's chosen. I love fielding them pre change and the new ability is even better. Can't wait for Greyjoy attachments
After initially being a little concerned by the changes, I’ve played some games and realised how well CMON have judged the extent of changes. I’m really impressed by the balance fixes in the game. Just Mel Casino to fix now.
About the vassal change: counting as the name for all abilities and effect. I think this was worded this way specifically for Satin. He can bond with Ghost the same way Jon can because of this. The wording then for all vassals wouldve been the same to prevent interpretations, mistakes and other faq. But im pretty sure Satin is the only one who has access to an ability refering to the commander name and not just tactic cards.
Greyjoy main here: Asha got murdered as a copy/paste from Mance. The developers showed zero respect for the Greyjoy ecosystem and completely bricked her as a commander. Victarion’s point cost enrages me. He was already the weakest Relentless in the game and Moqorro clone was just a meme and never a viable tactic. The developers bricked Victarion attachment as well. Reapers are still underwhelming unless you build the list around them. Sure, with Silenced Men, corpse piles, intimidating presence and vicious and flanking thats -7 with a panic token… and then your opponent plays Kingslayer’s Renown.
Coordination tactics was a change because of Greyjoys not Free Folk. The example you gave with free folk was even a thing because giants couldn't be copied since coordination tactics is infantry only. The change was made to fix the issue with drowned men, namely the ability saying 'this unit has 4 wounds'
I'm confused by your statement about terrain. Are you saying you think casual games should be player choice terrain, but competetive events should use random terrain?
I think casual games should be whatever you want to do, honestly; I do prefer to use the random table. For competitive events, I prefer the organizer set the tables to shave off an hour of screwing around at events and make table side choices more relevant.
@@BigTopGaming I get that for every other game I've played, but terrain set-up in ASOIAF takes like 5 minutes tops. And generally as a result of having to place 2 each there is atleast a slight side difference.
@@Sacrilege83 I don’t mean any harm. I got this same treatment last time when my house was nerfed to the ground. I watched the doom of my house and I stood tall and stalwart to the end.
Not super happy about the Queen's men nerf. Compared to the healing other factions have (like Nights Watch or Greyjoys) was an order to draw conviction really that powerful? Whatever. I don't object to Baratheon nerfs in general, but I thought they ought to nerf Stannis the rightful heir instead, and specifically Tactical approach. Its probably the best card in the game, and with the addition of Justin Massey attachment, it can now be drawn from the deck whenever the Bara player desires.
