In 1998, CITV underwent a huge relaunch after 15 years on air, where after a number of years of the links between the programmes being voiceover only, a brand new in-vision presence was introduced with two new presenters by the names of Danielle Nicholls and Stephen Mulhern presenting live from Central Television's then new base at Gas Street in Birmingham (the building still stands today, albeit only partially used by ITV for local news with the rest being rented out by other businesses). This began a new golden era for CITV where it certainly gave CBBC a run for it's money for a while! Many top names and celebrities appeared in the studio each week too...including Britney Spears!
CITV would continue broadcasting live from Birmingham until 2004 when production moved out of Birmingham and it went back to voiceover only. Recently it was announced after 40 years the Children's ITV/CITV strand would be scrapped and replaced by ITVX kids and moved to mostly streaming only.
