Learn something new every day. I've seen them bags but never knew how they filled and unfilled.

These grain bags seem more trouble than they're worth. am I right? I watch a lot of vids where this happens. I'm not a farmer, so I don't really know. Thank you to all our farmers for doing what you do.....

Hi Mike, we loaded a lot of grain with bucket, split a piece of pipe and bolted it over cutting edge on bucket. Save a lot of ripped bags and gouges when grain was dump on grass. Worked very well. Good luck, stay safe!

A 2/3 cubic metre bucket on a telehandler would have been lovely for that job!

Haha. Can completely understand the wifi issues. I am a farmer from north Western Australia and when I say the wifi is bad I mean we can’t watch a 10 second video in an hour. I also know that hour can be stupidly long and in situation such as this even more so. Thanks for the great content mike. Keep it up.

Mike, ever considered buying a toe tip/high tip bucket for your loaders? we use them on our farm, meaning even the smallest tractor and loader can fill trucks. Safer too without the grapel.

Keep warm👍I bet you Mike you wish you were here in sunny Australia as cool spring has turn into summer heat wave with avg temperature of 35oC, 39oC on weekend just gone. It not even summer yet until December but started windrowering canola this week n some farmers have decided to direct cut instead of windrowering. I hear massive harvest up in northern NSW with wheat but mid NSW yields are good but heap of pinched wheat, although price is holding at $300/t. There been fair few combine fires already too, stay safe everyone👍

We use homemade shotguns (two steel pipes sliding into one another) with a trip wire that shoots a blank shell into the ground to keep hogs out of our corn fields ... Maybe it could work for the grain bags as well

Very interesting operation! There are a lot of bags used around here (Iowa) for silage which you just unload with a tractor loader as you feed it. I also found it very informative what you said about a grain vac. I can certainly understand how deer do so much damage with their sharp hooves! You take care.

I feel your pain. The company I work for put up over 300 bags of wheat. Three years later I spent a summer cleaning them up. I still have night mares

sucks that it split, but as you said its lucky that it only partially tore. Grain vacuum's work well for this problem or old bags with a layer rotten grain on the bottom if you have one.

Maybe setup a feeder near bags that animals start getting into to give them easy access to gain and they won't mess with the bags as much?

Seems like they come out of the bags with very little splits and cracks. That’s awesome.

I find a strip of tape across the bag every so often can save a real headache.. Im also about to the point where i'm going to modify a snowblower into a bag extractor for split bags lol.

Same here in Ontario with wild life damage to wrapped hay !30 out of 50 big square bales by the time I got to picking them up was damaged by turkey’s or and Ravens thinking they’re bags of garbage.

Just a thought. We have trouble with geese wiping out our fields so I had some life size Eagles made up out of plastic they look real and my troubles almost went away. Get some cougar decoys made up. Put 4 per yard and have someone move them ever 3-4 days. Deer are not fond of cougars !?

Seems like what they make those bags out of is inadequate for the job. I guess there can be several reasons. Birds pecking at them, deer clawing at it, or stabbing it with their antlers, raccoons or possibly even hail. If you have a hail storm, go out right after and check the bags, to see if they’re damaged. If certain birds are a problem, maybe placing a couple of fake hawks on, or near the bags, would help scare them off. One thing I would not do, however, is walk on the fabric, like those two were when they were unrolling the new material. Any little indentation in the ground that they step on, could cause the fabric to stretch at that point and make a weak point, where it could break in the future. That fabric should be made out of some type of a “ripstop nylon.”

What about some temporary fencing around the bags?

I wonder if laying an old bag over top of a new bag would keep deer off? They old bag would not feel solid under their feet and maybe the rustling of the UN stressed bag would deter them? Just a thought, also would be a another use for old bags.

A suggestion. Install bird bangers activated by motion detectors. A device used in grape vineyards to scare birds and deer away. Housed in an out-house size box, shot gun blast 💥 scares off critters. Blasts can also be automatic at irregular intervals. Solar powered electric fence around bags might help. ⚡⚡💥ZAP⚡⚡. 🇨🇦 + 🇺🇸 =✌️👍😷

Why don’t you get Ashtyn a tape dispenser for that Tuck tape, would make life a lot easier taping up bags, as I know how hard it is to find the end on tape roll once it’s stuck back together on roll.

U need to get a high dump bucket it clear those rails above the truck alot better
