Some of us neither want nor need a passport and should not have to go to such expense to travel in the USA.

You can indeed use your passport, and the passport card makes it even easier. Even easier is TSA Precheck and easier still is Global Entry. But, for those that don’t want to go to that level, an enhanced driver’s license (or ID card) will work just fine. Of course, the ONLY reason why this is even necessary is because some states are giving out driver’s licenses to illegals. Don’t forget to thank democrats for that.

So, what's the difference between a regular ID and a REAL ID? Not that I am complaining, but it sounds like the good old fashioned cards are no longer considered "genuine" by the government. I went through a lot of trouble just to get a regular ID card... now they're saying it's pretty much going to be useless by the end of the decade?

Regular ID is pretty much useless now, thanks to states that give out driver licenses to illegals.

Uh huh. I don’t have a passport, I have no intention of ever flying anywhere again. I don’t purchase alcohol or cigarettes. So, until they mandate it for just driving, no thanks.

Good. Real ID driver licenses should already be the standard and not just for domestic air travel, but for everything. And it would be if it wasn’t for those states that give out licenses to illegals.
