I learned that the "why" in a promo is so important because it establishes the emotional connection with the viewer. If you have an emotional parallel with the viewer, chances are, they'll be more inclined to buy a ticket and see the match. Thanks, Mike.

One of my favourite promo's was the one you did for your match against Tyler Bate for Fight Club Pro last year. Watching this makes me realise how it was so effective!

I knew screenwriting would come in handy for this wrestling thing. Lol I view screenwriting as “booking” a script/story, if you will.

I was training yesterday and when we got to the promo part of the session, I put a promo together using this model in this video - why, how, what, in that order. I'm pleased that it turned out well and I got some praise from my trainer and the other trainees. So I'm going to continue to use that. I've got one already brewing for next weekend's class! 💪💪

this is genius. while obviously this is highly effective in the world of wrestling, i think some of these concepts can be applied in another community where "getting over" matters - twitch streaming. i really appreciate these videos

This isn't just promos, it's ALL of storytelling. Especially in pro wrestling. Just speaking as a fan, if I don't know or care WHY two wrestlers or teams are fighting, then the match is not going to be interesting to me no matter how technically skilled the people in the ring are.

Yes, you're exactly right. The underlying psychology of Simon Sinek's "Start With Why" has applications far beyond just promotional messages. His concept is nothing short of astonishing.

My 'Why' would basically boil down to "Because I can." I don't hate the guy, I'm just motivated by selfish hedonism and my own amusement at the expense of others.
