So sad people are still being negative in the comments. What's to be negative about? I think you are doing a great job mate and checking the food and drink out aswell. Love it.
The videos are objectively bad, and Spencer is constantly complaining about people who tried to offer him advice. He just walks around talking to no-one.. Eating Greggs and getting drunk every day is not 'quirky' like you people think - it just confirms that England has no culture to be proud of
I've tried to tone down my negative comments I try & make them constructive from now on,I did however expect more somehow unlike jps who edited his & uploaded the following day spence did his in usa, maybe the extended versions on patreon were more watchable.
Spencer is clearly interacting with people - the lady in the pie & mash shop, the people who helped him out with the surplus pints fron the Wetherspoons game, the guy he met for the Glasgow night out and the lady he left with........ That's just from memory. You're just not paying attention!
@@Bobtheslob-bi9ngno he hasn’t seen any of it or if he did didn’t vlog it. Plenty of places he could have gone but I assume he’s gone for quantity in his short trip rather than quality
Spencer, I have been absolutely LOVING this series. I actually live not far from Beamish, used to go a lot as a kid. If anyone is being a negative nonce in the comments ignore them, you’re killing it mate
Basically all primary schools in the North East do trips there. I should probably go back to beamish as I haven't been in over a decade. (I hated writing over a decade it made me sound old)
@@markie1990123it's crap though. Your yearly pass doesn't cover it and the Xmas event is over expensive as these things usually are, and when you get there it's no really different to going during the day and a bit crap.
You're going to need another holiday when you return home. I'm glad you're embracing all things British. It's nice to see someone being so polite and complementary about it. ❤
These videos are SO enjoyable. They are an incredibly mixture of travel blog and "natural" "non-fake" presentation. I've watched every one and am excited for the next one. I had never even heard of the Beamish museum... and now I want to fly on over and see it myself.
Beamish really is an absolute cultural touchstone for anyone within about a hundred or so miles. Everyone who grew up in range of it spent time there and usually has fond memories of it. Obviously, it is a huge resource for filmmakers looking to film outside in authentic period pieces, such as Downton Abbey, but perhaps more important to many is just how they did it - each building has been relocated brick by brick from another place in the northeast prior to its imminent demolition. The pub in the 1920s village (with the co-op, bakery, train station etc.) came from Bishop Auckland, where my dad drank as a lad. It's preservation, rather than reconstruction, which leaves behind modern interpretation in reverence to factuality. An incredible place.
Go Spencer! I'd love to visit Beamish 😍 someone said you have a look of a Geordie, so maybe you have some Scandinavian blood in your ancestry (I do!) You have a look of the lovely Si King (one of the Hairy Bikers - beloved British TV cooks)
Beamish museum is a fantastic place to visit. It is indeed like stepping back in time. You are doing really well to get to all these places on our transport system. Enjoying these videos enormously
Its funny that you have been to Mumbles and Chester-le-street, neither get mentioned like ever.. but my late parents came from those places, Mum from the former Dad from the later. You somehow have a Geordie look to you IMO.
I live in Newcastle and haven't been to beamish in about 8 years , it looks much bigger now. I'm definitely going again after watching this great vid bud.
@@johnleonard9090 The last bit of the 50s town has just opened, also the Georgian tavern which was shown in the video which Spencer must just have missed to opening. I hope to get there sometime in the next two weeks to see the new stuff.
I remember having school trips to Beamish many years ago (wasn't as big as it is now!). Nine years ago I took my wife to it and couldn't get over how much it had grown (I've heard with the 50s village it is even bigger). Like you Spencer we had the fish & chips.... oh wow, they were to die for. I was wondering if Spencer did the full mine tour where they take you underground? Another good vidblog. Nice to see Chester-Le-Street getting a mention.
Hi Spencer, I've just watched your Beamish and Night oot on the Toon vids. Class man! As a bloke born and bred in the north east, you're welcome here any time! You appreciate your friends and you love to get on the piss. Nee wonder those Glaswegian buggers liked you as much as us daft buggers do!
I’m currently binge watching your trip and enjoying it greatly. I do hope you enjoyed your trip here, it’s such a beautiful country and I’m so glad you visited places which are, thankfully, still populated by actual British people. On to the next episode 👌👍
There is a small 12th century church at beamish that was taken down brick by brick and rebuilt at the site in beamish, it's from Eston cemetery and I remember playing around it as a kid, sadly got set on fire several times and vandalised. So happy they saved it, they do great work there.
Go, go, go Spencer! I'm loving your journey, and to see the UK through your eyes. I'm ama$ at your stamina!!! Bit worried about the food you're eating. Please have a couple of healthy days, or you won't last ❤❤❤
I'm so loving these vlogs Spencer. Well done on navigating your way around Britain on public transport. Puts us stay at homes to shame! 😂 The weather didn't look too good, but probably better that it wasn't too hot if you are walking more than usual. Do you think that you'd feel able to hire a car if you come over again? There are a lot of beautiful areas that don't have such good transport access. Looking forward to seeing the dogs.
So glad you got to see a bit of where I'm from. Hope the rest of the trip treats you well, if you are still around the area you have to check out Durham Cathedral if not .... Next trip :)
Hi Spencer, loving these vlogs. Hopefully you will come back to the UK and explore more of the country. There is so much history here. Hope you enjoyed your visit 😊
The pasty is designed to hold on the pastry fold, to prevent dirty hands from spoiling the meal, and the meal to be consumed in a container you can hold. These days of course we have clean hands not blackened hands from mining, but to eat the crust first? The hot contents might burn your hands or slip out...
Pasties are good wherever they come from, Cornwall might have made them their own but it's not exactly a secret recipe to make a flat meat pie with vegetables in...
Spencer, I am pleased you had the fish and chips, because they taste better when they are cooked in beef dripping, but not as healthy 😂Also alot of Period dramas are film there. I Love the place because it's all about local history.
Many places use palm oil which has more saturated fat than lard and as they can't cook it as hot the food absorbs a lot more of this disgusting oil, the food is dripping in the stuff and it tastes bitter
@@wullaballoo2642 I can see where you are coming from that's why I cook with rapeseed oil which you can cook at a higher temperature than palm oil or sunflower oil, also I agree with you! there evidence if you heat certain oils to high the body can not absorb it, it not good for your gut, suggestion is that you can still enjoy your fish and chips cooked in beef dripping, they taste great, it takes me back to my childhood. Today just eat them occasionally 👍
You've missed quite a lot , the 50s village , Pockerly old hall, there's a new pub there ,two churches, a school, 1940s farm , etc, I live about 15 mins away from it and we often pop up
Great videos Spencer, I didn't know you were visiting Beamish, that's 5 minutes from where we live, you could have called in for tea! Keep the videos coming and good luck with the rest of your trip.
lol beamish is a hard place to go when you're already exhausted 😆 Its like me going to the US and heading straight to the pencil museum. I would have spent half my time in London, then Edinburgh, Liverpool and maybe Bath, York, Wells or Oxford. It's cool that you're trying to get a real feel for the place though, even if the weather's not being optimal.
Maaan, i didn’t realise you were up here in God’s country. Great to see you visit the North East(a real hidden gem in the UK). Beautiful people, cities and a coastline to die for. I live in Sunderland myself, somewhere between Chester le street and Newcastle. You picked the right day for it as it’s been raining non stop today. Keep enjoying your travels marra(mate), as we say up here. ❤
Love the look of Beamish - just my sort of thing. It's a long way from me (I live on the South Coast) but I've always had a hankering to visit Lindisfarne, so maybe a holiday in the North-East is on the cards. Thanks Spencer for showing me a place on this island I call home, that I didn't know about. Absolutely loving your updates! Cheers mate!
Man, waking up in Glasgow is always rough. I always tell people to stay in Glasgow but daytrip to Edinburgh - and I think you found out why. Beamish is ace though, and constantly (but slowly) evolving
Did you not ride on the many steam trains, trams and classic old buses around Beamish? Hope you enjoyed the trip and you manage to return soon. Enjoying the vids! Thanks for visiting my old home town, Swansea and Mumbles.
@@Bobtheslob-bi9ng The video is 8 minutes long, he was there all day. There's just a chance he didn't film all of it. Nobody gets drunk on two half pints.
Hey Spencer. Loving the vlogs! As you're up North, wondering whether you're gonna work your way down and visit us in Liverpool? You got to!! As a musician you're surely gonna visit the home of The Beatles?? (Plus there's a lot more than that) You'll be welcomed by the scousers mate! 😊
Love this series and Spencer at some point when back in the US check out the UK documentary series called Edwardian Farm, Victorian Farm and I think there is a WWII one as well. It is a year long project where three historians and archaeologists live and survive as they would have back in the period. As it is the UK really authentic and eye opening compared to our lives today.
Wow you were very close to my home, i live just 5 mins away from beamish museum. Its a shame you didn't go when they have special events on, the place is phenomenal at those times.
Matey! If you're gonna do pasty land(Cornwall), you've got to do Devon! We do better pasties, sausage rolls and cream teas! You also don't need rabies shots
I was born in Durham dryburn hospital but I grew up in Chester - le - Street is actually a nice wee town once you know the people.. Even tho I live in Blackpool I still have family in Chester-le-Street.. Enjoyed the museum as a child probably different now.. One place you should visit next time is whitby lovely place in the summer.. Also if you a Harry Potter fan... Like me 😅 Durham be a nice place as they used the Durham cathedral alot in the movies.. Also a nice veiw when you make it to the top Durham may seem bit rough looking but definitely rich in its history.. Should try Blackpool next year to alot to do here ✌🏼❤️ and enjoying watching your vlogs looks like you had a great time in Glasgow definitely have to visit one time myself.. And looks like you had a good late stop out 🤭🤫 lol I had plenty myself 🙄 lol.. Keep up the good work and hopefully you'll be over again next year and hope will be 100% both of you come over
the original puffing billy is at north shields railway museum built in 1820, stella nothing wrong with that, discovery museum is free entry , crash out in the roman steam baths near northumbria uni use to be all stone until council modernisation back in the 60s great place to chill
We went with my school to Beamish when I was about 12, stayed 2 nights in a lovely hotel and I fell in love with one of the waitress😂❤...àwwww the memories
@@Bobtheslob-bi9ng The guy's on vacation, leave him alone to enjoy it his own way. He can get back to eating healthily when he gets back home. You're meant to relax and have fun when on holiday, F🦆's sake!!😊😅
Shame the weather wasn’t a little drying for you Spencer. Still looks like you’re having a fab time. Keep these videos coming - i’m watching every day ❤
Whoop my part of the world, haven’t been to beamish since I was at school. Hope you enjoyed it. Next time if we haven’t freaked you out too much give me a shout. Wow Chester my mother was from there. U pronounced it better than 90% of Americans. Ha that first bus was from the company that my school bus was from. Wow not quite that old though thankfully.
