I ran the Xtool D1 with rotary attachment through its paces and I can say it is a stout laser/engraver and super easy to use. I engraved flat wood, leather, stainless steel, and glassware. I've cut through Walnut and Leather with ease. So far it's my favorite laser for getting stuff done quickly.

I missed your stories. The laser is looking like it’s gonna put out some fun projects. I’m sorry you’re having health issues. I have a rare chronic illness that limits my shop time, mostly due to serious fatigue between shop days. Regardless, it’s good to see you keeping on keeping on.

Nice vid... The plant where I work just ordered a 60w ThunderLaser. We went to watch one work, and I was amazed at the speed. Diode systems seem so Slooowwwww since I watched that baby run. Having said that, I'm interested in getting something like the Xtool for my shop with the rotary tool. Did you test this guy against others?

Will... I always love your videos. I was wondering about the fan you had on top of the unit? What was the goal with that? Are you running the software on Windows or Mac?

I have two fans going. A box fan in the window off screen blowing to towards the outside. The second is a CPU fan I repurposed with some simple wiring and a DC converter to blow the exhaust toward the larger box fan. It seems to work well.

@@wmwalkerco Thanks Will. It sounds like you made good use of the old PC fan. If you ever need another fan like that, I think Noctua makes the best PC fans, and they have a couple that are 5V and include a USB power adapter. I used the Noctua NF-A12x25 5V (available on Amazon) for a cooling solution in my custom home theatre cabinets. Kinda of expensive but was worth it in my case. I also have AC Infinity USB fans and the Noctua air flow is far superior.

Quick question for you. I just purchased one of these and am wondering the best location to put the machine. Do you have any issues with it being in your home? I also purchased the air assist unit for the machine.

It depends on what you are engraving/cutting. I have mine situated near a window in my office with a box fan blowing out the window to exhaust to the outside. It helps a lot.
