I had no idea that water from Roosevelt dam was used to christen the USS Arizona. I think that was the most moving part of the video. Thanks for a job well done

I live near Indianapolis but I visited my uncle who lives in Apache Junction a few years back. I absolutely loved waking up every morning, walking outside, and gazing upon The Superstition Mountains. We took a trip up to the dam and stopped at the saloon in Tortilla Flat and I'd still have to say that was one of the best burgers I've ever had in my entire life!

I grew up in Mesa in the 80s and have very fond memories of Roosevelt Lake and tubing down the Salt River. I left Arizona in 1989 but it is still powerfully in my soul. It's so great to hear you guys tell all these wonderful stories, thank you so much!

I lived in Phoenix AZ. from 1971 to 1978. Many trips to swim in the cool waters of Canyon Lake when temperatures were well over 100 degrees. Many trips to Apache Lake to camp and fish. The word beautiful is not adequate to describe the Apache Trail. The memories of that land are forever etched into my memory.

I really enjoy the whole Superstition series. I lived in AZ for 13 years, beginning in 1980 and used to trail ride motorcycles all over the Tonto National Forest, back before the trail restrictions were put in place. At one point, one of the high school groups I belonged to sponsored a horseback trail ride through the Superstitions with overnight camping. At the end of the weekend, we had to truck out with four wheel drive trucks along trails barely wide enough for the vehicles. Thanks for posting this series. Keep up the good work!

Great story, Well told. Great to see Teddy Roosevelt's tie to Arizona and the lake that bears his name. Potential Future topics? - Since the lakes (Roosevelt, Apache, Canyon and Saguaro) all created after the Jacob Waltz era, what are they covering up? I have heard there are old towns now underwater. It was mentioned in the video parts of the original Apache Trail are under water. Any mining related items? How has the Salt River flow changed location over time. - History of Reavis Ranch and it's name sake. In some videos the photo used for Reavis and for Jacob Waltz appear to be the same image. Was Reavis a farmer/rancher or was he also looking for gold?

the constructors of the dam had no regard for artifacts or history. they just wanted water for their crops and electricity. we may never know what lies beneath the lakes and maps of the rivers from 1903 are very few. gonna have to go explore it! just another set of mysteries of the superstitious 😉

There is a town under I believe Apache lake called San Carlos. I'm starting to think that even the Dutchman mine is in 1 of the lakes. A short time between waltz passing and the lakes being formed lots of lost territory under those lakes.

🎥 "Tucson" Freight Movie: 🔹There's a great ole Western called "Tucson" that starred ("Randolph Scott, Barbara Britton and Gabby Hayes"), about Competing Freight Lines, an 8+ Team Freight Wagon, and a seriously narrow Mountain Road in Arizona. 🔺 I'm curious where they filmed that Movie. I'm estimating it was released in about 1946 +/- Movie available Free on RU-vid I love ⭐ Randolph Scott, Barbara Britton, Gabby, (could have only been better with ⭐ "Ella Raines," ("Ride the Man Down"), that lady had some sassy and I adore her works. She was stunning gorgeous.

Hiya, great story. I'm impressed on how y'all worked so hard to get those stones. The dam is very impressive when you see it, lots of men it took too build it. I hope your still doing well, because I love all the stories of the Superstition Mountains. Keep up the great work, and have a blessed day.
