Dead Man Walking is the title of the old documentary on the Jarrel Texas EF5 tornado. That dead man walking is in that. Comes from native American lore that says if you see ‘the dead man walking, you are about to die’. A very sad story Jarrell. So powerful it stripped the earth 1/2 meter down. All wiped clear. Including houses and people. Another good video is 1998 vortexva channel Columbus Nebraska tornado. Shows great structure as it comes to their farm and great ‘rope out’ of the tornado. Pecos Hank gives it a thumbs up too.

There's also a few well done RU-vid based documentaries about this tornado just because it's so very infamous. Recky might find it interesting and heartbreaking to do a reaction to any of the good ones about it.

Hey Recky, quick story.... I grew up in florida, so scary bad weather isn't a new concept for me. But my dad (rest is soul, lost him to covid), my dad was terrified of storms. All storms. Reason why..... In the 60s, he was in Pensacola (North florida) waiting at a bus stop. He was coming home on leave from the Navy, when a HUGE mile wide tornado hit ( terrible early warning system back then). So with pretty much no warning, it hit. He got picked up, carried off, thrown through a window of a business, and the building was torn up around him. He was rescued, but one of his feet was about 98% severed, literally hanging on by a thread. I'll never forget my dad's scars on his arms and thighs from skin graphs to reattach his foot. He made a full physical recovery, but he was ALWAYS very nervous during thunder storms. It was always quite sad to see our father scared, because outside of that, he was scared of nothing. I know you are facinated by tornadoes Recky, so I thought you'd find the story about my dad interesting. You and Carol, and the cats all take care of each other. xx

15:30 - not all cumulonimbus clouds (thunderstorms) are supercells. A Supercell is a particular type of thunderstorm that, as the video states, has strong rotating updraft called a mesocyclone while regular thunderstorms do not. This mesocyclone is what births the tornado, though not all supercells produce tornados.

I live in Illinois. Tornado season is "Adult time" here LOL When the siren goes off or the radio says severe weather approaching....the adults yell at the kids to go in the basement....grab a beverage and all meet in the front yard and watch the sky. LOL If it starts raining, the neighbor with the cleanest garage becomes the host. LOL Adult time is over when the kids start poking their heads out the doors to see what is happening. Hey @Cris Friant we did the same thing when the kids were younger. We had them go down in the basement, while we watched towards the West, and Southwest for a funnel, or tornado. Now, we did have the TV on, too. If we saw something, or if someone spotted something, we all got cozy in the basement. I'm sure it's the same in Illinois, as it is in Kansas. We get siresns blowing for something that isn't headed our way, but since part of the county is in it, the sound the siren.

On RU-vid is a video called R3 Shelter repair "Tragedy in Tornado Alley". It's an in-depth look at the children lost during the Moore, Oklahoma tornado at Plaza Towers Elementary school. This should be a required watch in conjunction with "Real Time Tornado Alley :Moore OK". Speaking of The Moore Episode on RU-vid, it's missing the first 15-20 minuets. If anyone has the full episode please put it here for all of us to study.

I live in Tennessee, (Dixie Alley). We have tornadoes often down here. I would have to say my favorite is a dust devil. They are cool looking and they don’t kill people or make people homeless. I was on a softball field as a teenager and right in the middle of a game, we had a dust devil. It went right over me. It felt like being in a sandblaster with all the dirt and small sticks hitting me, and for a moment I felt really light, like I might be lifted off my feet. Then it was gone… and I was laughing at it🐝🤗❤️

It might also be interesting for you to do something about the tornado rating systems if you haven't already. It could help you understand where the numbers come from. Also, they're based on damage done to structures and trees, so tornadoes that don't hit structures usually get lower ratings than they would have had they hit somewhere more populated.

I saw a waterspout when I was coming home one day on a school bus. It formed over Lake Michigan then traveled to a smaller lake attached to the Lake by a channel. We were on a hill and you could see the water. The waterspout formed a perfect spiral pattern in the water. It was fascinating and triggered my interest in weather. We have a lot of waterspouts and cold air funnels here in Michigan generated by the Great Lakes, especially in the late fall when the air is cold but the lake water is still warm.
