I mean in a weird way it kinda makes sense for him. He was basically a loner his whole life except for him having his brother, when he lost him he got deeper into his quest for mysteries. Dedicated his whole life to it. What I don't understand is why he just didn't maybe just destroy the pages that had information on the portal and bill cipher
Its not really about vanity As a writer, i completly understand No matter how horrible or in this case dangerous your work might be you cannot bring yourself to destroy it because thats a piece of your soul right there. However, i think a piece of yoir soul is a small price to pay for the safety of human kind lol

Its me" Cuz that's how u can know if someone is possessed by Bill and this may be a bit after Ford shuts down the deal with Bill so he thinks that Bill could trick someone else into starting the portal back up and why not start with his brother

@@Boss_Isaac My dad had a huge 3rd degree burn on his leg once. Couldn't walk for a week and needed a skin transplant. And also, third degree burns are painless. It burns away the nerves.

In the journal, Ford talks about how he visited a reality where Stan listened to him and took the journal away. Imagine how heartbroken and even more screwed up Stan would be in that reality.

What's so interesting about this scene is that both brothers have a point. Stanley saysFord cares more about his mysteries than his family, and Ford says Stanley ruined his own life. And they're both at fault, too - Stanley ruined his brother's chances at college, and Ford abandoned Stanley when their parents kicked them out. Neither brother is wholly to blame or wholly right. Now that's some deep writing right there!
Jacqueline Schat I dunno, man. It seems Stanly has screwed Ford over WAY more. I mean, he ruined his project, cost him his future, never apologized, THEN straight up cost him 30 years of his life in another dimension of unspeakable horrors because he wouldn't let him burn the journal (why did he even want to burn it), AND THEN he gets all whiny and nearly destroys the universe because he can't hold Ford's hand for a few seconds. Actually, it reminds me a lot of Mabel. Wanted your sibling to always be yours so badly you would actively sabotage their life for trying to leave you to live their own dreams. And neither ever really apologized.
Jacqueline Schat technically Stanley had it worse because no one believed in him and he got disowned for an accident whereas his brother completely disconnected contact with his family on _purpose_ so he could focus on his career and make a deal with an obvious trickster super demon like a moron. I’d like to add that Stanley would be too smart to _ever_ fall for Bill’s bullshit.

0:36 Ford checking Stan's eyes isn't just some funny trope of an insane person being overprecautious, he's checking to make sure Stan isn't Bill trying to get another peak at his research. Keep in mind that at this point in the story he'd already been tricked by Bill several times, to the point where he almost lost his eye.
You know how you usually take sides with characters? Right now I take neither Ford or Stan's. They were both jerks to each other. Both refuse to listen, understand or forgive. Ugh. Still love them though.
Honestly Stanley suffered more than he did the past 10, just wish Ford was more honest with Stanley about Bill's plans to take over the whole universe.
Stanley and Stanford were both jerks in this tbh. Stanford didn't understand that Stanley was excited to see him after 10 years and Stanley didn't understand how dangerous this could be and how hard Stanford worked on this. instead they fought.

Stanford was a worse because he knew his brother was basically homeless and penniless. Stanford himself even he became successful scientist he never really bothered about his own brother after when he was kick out the house
I kinda feel bad for stan all he wanted was to sail around the world with his brother even though they did in the last episode but still also I kind of thought it was sad watching the two of them fight the first time I watched this episode
SPOILERS FOR THE LAST MABELCORN BUT ALSO A DISCOVERY: Notice how he checks Stanley's eyes before letting him in. In the Last Mabelcorn we learn that Ford used to work with Bill, but know doesn't trust him. He looks just old enough for it to be after he stops working with Bill. He checks Stanley's eyes to make sure they're not slits: they're not Bill's eyes. That's why he checks Stanley's eyes with a flashlight.

I'm so pissed that Ford still blamed Stanley for everything even after finally getting back to our dimension. The least Ford could've done was admit that he should've let Stanley destroy the journal. His plan was to trust his only brother with the book, and if destroying it was what he thought was best then that's that. At least then all of the destruction and weirdness that Ford was so afraid of would've been avoided.
For anyone who is curious and hasn’t read the book of Bill, the reason that Ford asked “have you come to steal my eyes?!“ Is because, a little under three days prior he had been warned by Bill cipher that he had a friend who would come and steal his eyes unless he complied to his demands and turned on the portal. Unfortunately, even if this threat turned out to not be real, it obviously freaked poor Stanford out. And no doubt it was a pretty big contributing factor that led to this scene playing out the way that it did. With Stanford being sleep deprived and paranoid…
@@bophi_true Or Bill because someone possessed by Bill have the cat eye pupil and maybe the term "steal my eyes" means being possessed because your eyes become Bill's eyes and the eyes are the only thing that is a hint that that is Bill
I love how Ford checks his eyes. It's not explained, but if you remember Sock Opera, it's a fun sign of what's to come. It's even more impactful after reading Journal 3 and finding out Bill possessed the entire town to torment Ford.
Here we see how Stan and Ford fell apart due to their ego and selfishness and when Ford was truly lost, Bill was there to exploit his vulnerability. Then we see Dipper and Mabel go through the same thing with their own fear and selfishness and like last time Bill comes to exploit Mabels vulnerability. However unlike with Ford and Stan, Dipper and Mabel are able to reconcile and work together even during the apocalypse. Ford and Stan see this and are inspired by it, which leads them to reconcile and work together to destroy Bill once and for all. That’s why it’s fitting that it’s Ford and Stan who destroy Bill as it is them destroying their past demons and defeated their old enemy by working together and rejecting behind their ego and selfishness.
A plot hole here is that stanford is okay with never seeing the book again but doesnt want it burned to preserve his research? that doesnt make sense? also why didnt he just vopy everything down except for the gate operating instructions and then destroy the book? hiding it is too dangerous

I love it how Dipper tries to get an answer to the "tattoo" as a spoiler-free short. I just showed mum as a little side thing for lols because she and I are going to marathon the first season tomorrow (she's never watched GF before and I'm hyped :D) and this is my point about how everything weaves together

This is why I love Gravity Falls. They cleverly link up these random one time parts. If you don’t know, in Dippers Guide To The Unexplained episode 1, Dipper tries to see Grunkle Stan’s tattoo which has that exact shape in the exact spot he gets it at in here. Which is super clever how they link up some random thing with a part of the series.
Ya know....the events leading up to Ford's disappearance never would have happened had Stan called Ford up about the invention being broken and he would have fixed it.
