I'm not gonna lie, hearing Muselk discuss all this with you has really brought some closure to what its like being a fan of him during the TF2 era of his content

Very happy to see your video had enough reach to make this happen. It was extremely nice to hear from muselk again in this nonconfrontational, 1-on-1 format of just conversation. There were a couple times he genuinely made me laugh out loud and its nice to know hes finally in an era of his life where he finally feels comfortable enough to relax a bit. His comparison of his rancho relaxo to his sky base videos was an incredibly interesting parallel i had never even considered and ultimately Im excited to hear he wants to try something more passionate-driven in the near future. Thank you for - accidentally or otherwise - breathing all this insight into the hectic process that is content creation. Its been really interesting to see you discuss the challenges that breaking away from a niche can create and to see him talk about how the landscape of the platform has changed.

I grew up with muselk and I have been someone who has casually enjoyed their content starting with tf2. The whole betrayal idea always stuck with me as immaturity even close to the beginning with me being only a few years younger. Idk, people were way to caught up with what game they wanted over anything else. Idk, I actually really enjoyed the overwatch content and fortnite content and only really fell off it after I got more busy with life etc But if I was to ask anything, bring back watch time! that show was my early work podcast and I would love if it could come back. What I find even more strange is how some people kept the same attitude even now with the whole betrayal thing, like they would have been kids at the time, but you would think that after this time the would have grown up enough to understand and to really see the passion that muselk had in playing new games as a career instead of the same old. But idk, I guess I just find it disappointing

I used to play on the Muselk community server on TF2, good times and this reminds me that things ain't going to stay the same forever and people change.

I discovered Muselk early when he was doing Fortnite content (and I don't even play Fortnite). I then discovered all the hate he got for leaving behind TF2 and Overwatch. I enjoyed his Fortnite content, and also had fun going through his old back catalogue, so I don't think I have the biases that may have let people to call him a traitor. However, when I saw him discuss the stuff he was doing behind the scenes on his podcast, I realized that he's a pretty down-to-earth guy who's cool even when he's not on full RU-vid persona mode. It's really easy for people to forget that RU-vidrs are people too, and they really do hear the criticisms.

Glad to see that your video succeded enough to make this possible and Muselk arround the tf2 community again, as someone who was arround when he was uploading tf2 and overwatch and stopped watching him when focused on fortnite is great, keep up the good work man

I watched his tf2 a lot and a bit of his overwatch. I liked his overwatch content proportionally to how much I liked overwatch, not as much as tf2. I was always subscribed but stopped watching then. After a while of him doing Fortnite I was like is he still doing Fortnite? It got me to watch as a joke but you could clearly tell he was having fun which was fun to watch. After hearing about how hard it was for him I just wish him the best in whatever he does.

Nothing wrong with playing games that he enjoys, the hate he gets is unjustified.

I remember being around 14 when Muselk had played less in favor of overwatch, and I watched a video that was really dissing him. Whats more my 14 y.o. Brain was convinced and sold, with this whole Muselk is a traitor thing, I don't remember what was it that sold me but I'm sure that it was just a weak argument and was just carried by emotion. I never expressed that 'hate' for him anywhere at all but at the same time looking back on it now, even if I did keep it to myself, I feel so goddamn guilty. Cuz I felt like I was part of a group that was alienating him from a game he loves to play.

This is all very enlightening. What happened to him. Your take on the RU-vid pipeline. And lessons here in general to take away from this especially as an aspiring RU-vidr who has no idea where to start and doesn't have the courage to even test it to find out. I mostly wanna be a vtuber with my umbreon fursona and just play the games i enjoy like pikmin, cities skylines, and gta. But, why would anybody watch my unprofessional thumbnail, non clickbait title, lispy voice havin ass when they already got big professional youtubers for everything i wanna do. I did get positive encouragement to start in the irl vehicle project community though, cuz there's not much of that, and it's really neat stuff. But damn, you gotta have tons of mechanical knowledge for every unique intricate and fragile little part, and thousands of dollars to start with for all the necessary tools and parts, or else a simple project car is gonna take years to make. Just like my first video game, cuz I'm also trying to make a video game company, but funding it on a Walmart job on top of life is just... glacially slow. I've actually tried making several videos over several years already, but as you can see, i got nothing now. I've done playthroughs of many games. Some of my favorite classics like need for speed most wanted and sonic adventure dx. But with every batch of videos, i leave them up for several months but they never get more than a couple hundred views. And when i think about them, i just find them cringe, unfunny, unquality, ununique, unentertaining, etc. I'm always imagining things all the time. New ideas. Inventions, game design, art, events, etc. But nothing ever comes out how i imagine it. Even just in the simple act of talking. If i try to say anything more complex than a dozen words, my thoughts and tongue start tripping all the fuck over each other so i have to keep pausing and reorganizing them. Maybe I've grown up just too socially awkward to ever reach anything great, or already built up bad events in my younger years waiting to come bite me in the ass if i ever do reach something big, just so the world can watch it all get taken away and leave me so far beyond broken than i already am that i just can't take anymore, cuz it's not like i'd even have simple life pleasures to fall back on like love, because i need the big money to get to my online mates that are hundreds or thousands of miles away, so if i never reach anything big, I'll never reach them, and I'll forever have nothing, and just have to accept my fate as another grey cog in the machine working a whatever job and quietly dying alone someday. In this same vain, it's sooooooooo refreshing to finally hear a big person like muselk just flatly outright state they got very lucky to get where they're at. Cuz that extreme work ethic isn't enough for the 99% to get traction. The 1% get big cuz they also had some kind of luck like getting a 500% booster in war thunder but not dying in the first minute of the match without even getting to fire a single shot. Ugh. I only keep going cuz i want to get to my mates. I've been suffering for so many years to chase that light at the end of the tunnel. But i still don't even understand why they want me. I'm literally trash. I don't even show pics when they do cuz i got nothing to show. How can they want somebody that won't even show themselves? Is it my personality they like? I go *uwu cuddle snuggle* and that's enough to love my personality? I just don't get it. I bet if they really saw me they'd run away. Just... trying to find my way in life. Even got highly detailed plans to save the world if i ever got the power. Such massive dreams. Yet i can't even get the money or skills to build a decommissioned bus into a motorhome to escape the prospect of an actual house being impossible to obtain for my generation cuz the bus house would only be 100k at most even fully luxuried out. Whereas any random dumpy ass 70 year old house surrounded by crackhead Florida mans is at least 300k. Lol. The world is so silly uwu

how are u defining a sellout? he changed games as he wanted to pursue something that may have provided more opportunities and passion rather than sticking to TF2 all day. this is the problem with tf2 fans as you have a direct bias in what you liked when he originally started.

@@HB-fq9nngate keeping is a good thing if you care at all about the integrity of the thing you enjoy. The more people who engage with something the more people bitch about aspects they don't like and the more said thing will change.
@HB-fq9nn
@HB-fq9nn 9 месяцев назад
@@jollygrapefruit786 But on the other hand it can also make you look like a jerk, especially when they’re essentially saying, “You can’t enjoy that game you were previously playing! It sucks and there’s nothing good about it! Come and try our game instead, it’s SO much better than whatever you’re playing!”. Telling people what they can and can’t enjoy just makes you look like an insecure asshole.
@billybob-yc3ux
@billybob-yc3ux 9 месяцев назад
Unfortunately I think you you’re missing that gatekeeping often discourages new players and the idea of what the game should be is often decided by a community who often don’t care about newer or less experienced players
