Thank you for this! I’m totally blind and hadn’t heard of Cuckoo. After research, this brand has been around for decades, with a well respected reputation. Korea makes some great products. Your cooking with your girls was a joy to watch.
Very informative review. I have the smart instant pot, as it allows me to use my iPhone to control the buttons since I am totally blind. This pressure cooker seems very interesting to me because I have never heard of a talking pressure cooker until now. I think if the blind community knew about this, this thing would definitely take off big time.
Well this Pot is cool. Your review was great as it explained the obvious features well and what one who just got one of these would be doing, exploring how it works and "decoding" the settings options. One thing I always look at is what is the warranty and where can it be serviced if needed. I can't wait for a follow up video. And your co-host is a cutie pie!
In order to safely regulate and maintain a constant pressure, it will allow excess pressure to escape. So every once in a while one will hear steam escaping, there is no need to worry about it when it gives off short burst of steam. When doing Saute/Searing, OPEN the LID and turn knob, located on top, to LOCK, but do not close it just keep LID raised up. But when using the pressure to cook, CLOSE the LID and turn the knob on top to LOCK. So, Sauteing = LID is open and knob to LOCK and when pressures cooking = LID CLOSED and LOCK position.
Maybe people might know how it makes annoyed when releasing the pressure valve on instant pot which makes me scared a lot!! At that point, The auto steam releasing function is very attractive for me:)
This looks really great. I like the additions that Instant Pot doesn't have and I love the voice. I’ll have to watch Amazon got a sale on this one. I'd love a 5 qt so I could make rice in it while my 6 qt is busy. Looks really fun.
Hi Neeley! Oh thank you so much for doing this video. Oh it talks! Okay, here’s why I’m so excited. I’m totally blind and I have been looking at pressure cookers for a long time and I had pretty much decided on the Instapot even though it wasn’t totally accessible for me. It seemed to be the best one on the market right now for a blind person and I know a few people who use it successfully. But I still wasn’t quite satisfied which is why I haven’t actually purchased one yet. And then here comes this video! Im so glad I waited! It talks! Whoop! Whoop! It’s perfect …presets, automatic steam release…and it talks! Wait, did I say that already? Anyway, this will be my very first purchase after the income tax money comes in. thanks again for doing this. I’ll definitely be going through your links to get it. Oh yeah, and I do love your channel. Your girls are absolutely the cutest. Peace and love to you and your family. Blessings. Karla
Great initial review and unboxing ... your technical support helper was key for sure 👍🏻 Would like to see the lid removal for cleaning and also the safety features (how does it indicate the presence of pressure? ... how does it stop you from opening with pressure ?) Look forward to follow-up videos on this unit! Thanks & Happy New Year to You & Your Family !!!
OMG the baby is crazy cute! I was looking at the Zojirushi rice cookers but the wonderful Korean cuteness won me over to Cuckoo. I love how the Koreans make such solid equipment but they give it that sweet soul.
I had that brand rice cooker. We had a Korean here working for a bit and he gave it to us when be left. I sold it because it only spoke Korean, it worked well for the time i had it.
Thank you so much for your review. I’m convinced, and I’m going to purchase from amazon. I am totally blind, and had an instant pot, only for me to take it back because of inaccessibility. So thank you.
Really nice video but for the love of god DO NOT go with metal utensils into the non-stick pot! Youre going to scrape it easily and only use the white plastic utensil that came with the box. But great review overall!
Thank you for a great review, I imagine the voice novelty for me would wear off but I like the display showing the whole time and you have such a cute helper 😀
That's so fun! I like that it talks. I just noticed the address in the comments, I live on Sacramento street about two miles away and my grannies live on 146th across from Glendoveer golf course. I shop at the Lily market and food fight often. What a small world. Hello neighbor! Thanks for all of these great videos! Have a Happy Day
Thanks nili, this more or less is identical to the cookeoo by moluex ,or as I own here in the UK tefal cook for me.with on board recipes ,fully automatic . I was very happy with mine ,but fell in love with the IP duo, much more versitial ,and....not so much liquid left during cooking. I still use my tefal ,but it's the instant pot for me every time . Great video nili, love from the UK x❤
I just bought mine and was casually watching some videos. I learned that the 0H stands for how many hours the food has been warming. So say u kept ur rice in that pot for 4 hours (warm). The CUCKOO will say 4H on the screen. I wonder.. have you cooked much else in this cooker? I know it can cook a ton of food but figuring out which menu, level can be a bit tricky
Since you have tested this brand might want to try testing a Zojirushi and Tiger pressure cookers as well! Hopefully IP will start making more smart cookers like these!
Looking at purchasing this model. This one is listed as the Premium model. Do you know what the difference is between this one and the Supreme model is?
Ren is the demonstration queen.. She sure is cute.... I never knew what the lines meant vs the cup that came with the IP which is what I have, so learn something new. O-H = open hood LOL Ren needs a spoon, gad I was waiting for her to stab her little mouth. I like when I set my IP for 4 minutes that is the time it's going to cook my food, keeps from over or under cooking. I have no problem with the build up time, once you use the IP it's to be expected. The IP could have a louder buzzer or beeper when it's done cooking but over all I think for the money it's tough to beat the IP... However you did do a really good review on the Cuckoo, and for people that like a little fancier pressure cooker, I guess this would be a great pick. I was not thrilled with the IP Duo either. As a single guy, the simpler the better. What is really hard to swallow, you didn't give your little dog some rice LOL... Actually rice is good for dogs in moderation..
LoL, your guess is a good one too.. Regardless, I hope you are happy with your unit and it was nice conversing with you. Thanks for your reply. Tomorrow I'm making Mack n Cheese from Kraft that comes in the box, but with ground meat and peas, all done in my IP. For your kindness here is the recipe I got from a lady that uses her IP in her and her husband's truck. I ever included the link for the video for ya. Instant Pot Hamburger Mac & Cheese - crafty trucker Uses boxed Mac and cheese. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ApAOqNnGueM.html 1 lbs of hamburger..... Salatue onions and bell peppers, then add ground meat and brown it good and add seasoning. Then drain grease off the meet, using strainer, poor meat into the strainer and leave sit. Then 2 table spoons of butter, add a cup of water or better bone broth, or beef / chicken broath, Poor the pasta from the Mac&Cheese box into the IP, pour in peas, or fav frozen veggies, stir it up a bit, put IP lid on, seal and set for 4 minutes, then quick release. Open lid and add cheese packet that comes with the Mac & Cheese, Add 1/4 milk (canned, cream, almond does not matter), then stir up keepin IP on the warm cycle. Then re-add the hamburger meat you had draining and stir it up.. You can also add shredded cheese in side the IP or better on top of the served meal.
I'm Korean and will tell you what "0H" means. 0(it's number 0 before 1) is not alphabet "O" and H means "hour". So "0H" on your cooker's screen means 0 hours passed after your rice was cooked. It will turn "1 H " 1 hour after your cooker was done cooking rice. and then 2 H, 3 H and so on as long as your cooker is plugged in after you are done with cooking the rice. Hope you got it:)
OH stands for Zero Hours. you can close it back and let it 24H or more, the temperature and moisture will stay at its best, which makes it sooooo good and so convenient
Hi, love the video - very cool. Just curious - I have the same cooker and when I open the lid after it is done cooking (rice, etc), there is a lot of condensation and runs off into the 2 holes in the back (white area), and collects in the dew dish in the rear of the cooker? Does yours do the same - did not seem to see that in your video? I know that the lid is heated and after you wipe off the water - when you open the lid over and over there is no condensation forming & hot to the touch (naturally- HA). Thanks much, Steve
The recipe book looks nice compared to the one that came with the instant-pot... this shape might be better for poultry, duck and turkey!!! The handles are cool! But I kind of feel loyal to InstantPot ULTRA it also keeps the food warm all day even if it’s unplugged. Love the talking part here sounds like we are in Disney Land :)...
I would be interested in this if it had the stainless liner and price is competitive to IP 220 V Model. Trying to find a 220 V Instant Pot to use in the Philippines and the EU Model plus adapter is very expensive.
Hi great review, Thanks. I bought this cooker on Amazon and tried making rice many times so far. It always comes sticky. I use the Cal-Rose California rice with 1:1 water. I tried various time settings such as the default 8 minutes, then 5 mins, 3 mins etc., for Rice. But I could never get it fluffy. Any suggestions? Thanks
Great review. Thanks! Were you satisfied with the safety features? Could a child open the lid just by twisting a knob, as opposed to rotating the entire lid as with the IP? Compared to this beauty, you have to work to remove the lid from other electric pressure cooker's. Cuckoo is definitely sleek and sexy. South Korea gave us LG and Samsung ... it's time for a hi tek, uber-cool pressure cooker! Gotta luv the fact that it entertains you while chatting without mincing words. 😊
Yes, the safety features were great. With the all encompassing programs it made sure all the pressure was fully released and then sat for a few minutes before it beeped and let you open the lid... I thought that was a great safety feature. As far as kids opening in... You have to turn the locking knob and press the button so they'ed have to know exactly what they were doing to get it open. It seemed pretty safe to me. :)
I'm looking for a pressure multi cooker to cook chicken. I want it to have a stainless steel pot (no non-stick) and also induction heating so that it cooks faster (I believe Induction is faster). I'm heaving a hard time find one. I'm not sure how much faster induction heating is.
No, problem. I decided I didn't need one since nothing I'm going to cook now needs one. A simple induction stove plate and a pot or pan is a marvelous simple and safe means of cooking too.
It’s the Teddy Ruxpin of multi-cookers :-). The very plastic shell and clasps would be a bit concerning to me from a long term durability perspective. I’d also be worried about the voice and sound making it seem toy-like in households with small children.
AREN'T YOU ABLE TO PROGRAM THE COOCOO TO RESPOND TO VOICE COMMANDS? I THOUGHT YOU SAID THAT IN THE BEGINNING. THIS WOULD BE PERFECT FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO ARE ALMOST BLIND.. THANK YOU.
@@mgml3330 no. Cuckoo and zojirushi carefully monitor surface temp so there is no burning, scorching or dehydration. Cook rice in an instant pot. Itll do a good job but the bottom will scorch.
Misogynist I have an instant pot and rice has never scorched in there. Maybe you need to check your measurements, and stop giving anecdotal reports on stuff and it’s not official.
@@CaffeineBrittany Maybe scorched was the wrong word. There was really hard rice stuck to the bottom. I've added more water since and it reduced the issue, but I don't think that it'll ever give a perfectly uniform texture the way a real rice cooker does. I upgraded from instantpot to a tfal cook4you pressure cooker and it seems to have solved the problem
It would be good for blind people who would like to be sure they pressed the correct button for what they want to do with it. It affirms what you pressed and what it's about to do. In most of the world outside of the USA, people weigh out their ingredients as a way to measure items for recipes. They claim is far more accurate than using cups and spoons for doling out ingredients.
I understand how someone who isn’t blind wouldn’t like this feature, but extremely invaluable to the blind and visually impaired. Luckily manufacture included mute, making a product accessible to all.
Easier to eat rice with your hand. I spend a lot of time in SE Asia and most times you have to ask for a spoon and fork. Most people just assume you brought you own which is your hand.
Japan I do not spend much time in. I travel throughout SE Asia like Philippines. There you will just get a plate of food and no silverware. You have to ask for it. I do carry chopsticks with me but much faster and easier to eat with your hand. That is why most restaurants will have a hand sink in the dining room.
This inner pot if 2PLY Clad (AL +STS 304) made of 304 Stainless as well. A combination material of stainless steel and aluminum for the complete heat conduction can endure high temperature, pressure, and steam. Not only it helps protect the interior of your multi cooker but also makes cleaning simple and easy.
Even her in South korea, cuckoo brand is really Pricey yet super popular, but if you are craving for a heavenly rice everyday, pressurize rice cooker is the best plus its easy to clean after using... there is a keep warm mode for your remaining rice if you want to eat it later without browning the bottom qnd still the rice is moist and tender..
