The Csaba in War Thunder is a Hungarian Armoured Car that his a tiny little 20mm cannon with only 34mm of penetration. This isn't your normal type of 20mm, though... it has explosive filler. The problem is, the shrapnel from the APHE shell is WORSE than penetrating shrapnel from AP 20mm rounds!
This has to be the worst vehicle in the game that has a conventional tank design. The L3/33 is certainly worse but due to the L3's size it's easily concealable. The Csaba is VERY tall and easy to damage. The crew are very cramped making it very easy to be destroyed with one hit!
This thing is awful... so, let's go have some fun in it! :)

It's funny that even enemies with no armor, the gun still only is able to kill by slowly making the crew mildly uncomfortable by repeatedly peppering them with microscopic flakes of spalling and internal paint chips.

I think that the tank doesnt even kill the crew, they just get so annoyed by they fact theyre being covered in metal shavings they leave the tank and go somewhere else

It's still much better than the PO-2 or the M2A2. If they put it at 1.0 and fix the gun doing nothing, it could be a useable vehicle.

The Csaba was never intended to use against armored targets, it was a quick recon vehicle, so his armaments was intended maximum against not armored targets and infantry.

@@fuckinantipope5511 Anti-armor against light infranty vehicles. Take a note, the round was literally from 1936 when tanks were not that armored yet on top of this being an infantry supporting vehicle that atleast wouldn't get penned by normal rifle bullets.

If this can be in game, so can the Fairey Battle and Fulmar, the Blackburn Skua and Roc, the Boulton Paul Defiant, and another six or eight barely competitive aircraft that saw combat in 1939-40. They would all have to be 1.0-1.3 of course. Seriously, the French are flying the D.371, D.373, D.500, 501, & 510 ffs.

Some fun facts: The Mk1 Toldi came 1 year before the csaba and also had this gun (they could have added it in 1.3 while putting this in 1.0) The gun according to wikipedia has a flat pen of 50mm on 400m so it appears to be weaker in game than it should The hungarian translation of crew voices are just as bad as the finnish ones

All of the low tier auto twenty mills have innaccurate pen values because Gaijin couldn't figure out how to balance them, so they nerfed them across the board. For instance, the slow firing german auto twenty mills used to have like 60mm of pen. Now there isn't a single auto twenty mill in the low tiers with more than 48mm of pen. Gaijin abandons historical accuracy if it makes balance difficult.

@@deweylewey7820they might have nerfed the max penetration of the 20mm Pzgr. 40 but it retains penetration much better than in RL. It’s also kinda stupid how those Pz IIs fight all sorts of vehicles they never fought with 20mm APCR in RL. The Pz II was just a stop gap. Basically a Pz I with some AT power to at least be able to destroy light tanks. By the time the 20mm Pzgr. 40 was used Pz II were only used as reconnaissance vehicles, together with armored cars. They could add the Luchs at 2.0 and move the others back to 1.0 without

I just checked, I've killed more planes with this thing than ground vehicles. Also spaded it without damaging a single enemy (blew a 500% booster... and one matched with caps). It has taken the "worst" crown from the French old reserves... which it couldn't kill.

I killed an IKV 91 in it. I started shooting him in the side 100-150 meters away and his return shot only popped my tire and killed the transmission. Overpressure never, I guess. I don't think he even realized he was taking damage until it was too late.

@@GewelReal The Toldi I had the 20mm gun. Toldi II, same gun, better front armor. Toldi IIA (which we got as a battle pass premium) had the 40mm gun. Toldi III had the 40mm and side armor like the Turan. Then there was a single prototype with a PaK 40 built like a Marder.

The 20mm. is a Solothurn S18-1100 anti-tank rifle. It shoots AP-I ammunition, which, according to German range tests, could penetrate up to 34mm. of RHA @ 0 degrees @ 100 metres, up to 21mm. @ 30 degrees @ 100 metres & 0mm. @ 60 degrees at all ranges. The shell filler is a semi-explosive incendiary blue gel.

I used to hate the AB 41 for some reason but now I absolutely love it. The 20mm is so effective at reserve, and even though I'm pretty sure the pen got nerfed it can still pen basically everything apart from the odd frenchy.

@@Igzilee Yeah it's non historic now. Not only that they don't even follow their own pen formula. 1050 velocity should not be the same pen as 925 velocity. 850 velocity is 42mm pen so this DEV is pretty scummy. The worst is the Flakpanzers, their crew is nerfed to 2. But France, Japan and Russia all get their standing crews modeled. They've had years to fix this.

Someone provided screenshots of the M8 Greyhound user manual and proved it had no stabilier on the War Thunder forum and it got removed within the past two weeks. It's a huge nerf, the gun wobbles like crazy.

Because WT has been using a dumb formula to calculate penetration, which is especially problematic for the small caliber guns. The german flak 30/38 hvap had the historically correct pen of 64mm for years but was switched to the formula so it now has a patchetic 48mm pen point blank.

Tbf it really should be 1.0 and not 1.3. Gaijin was crazy to put this higher than the AB 41. Half of the rounds from the gun just vanish, so it definitely needs a fix, but after all this is an armoured scout car from 1939 so don't expect much anti-tank capabilities from it.

Oddbawz you may consider that vehicle to be the worst in the game, but I have never seen you play more effectively and may I say have more fun doing it? It truly felt like you were outsmarting a superior enemy and it added to the experience. I will say it does suck tho so kudos for making it work.

So I got the Csaba. 1st outing, got 1 tank kill, 1 plane kill, 3 assists. I lasted the whole match. At the end they sent everything at me including bombers. Conclusion LOVED IT. It was so much fun. Ya it's not great, but an awesome pest, great for baiting

I managed to get top of my team in this among the few times I played it before spading it and never touching it again, and I think it was one of my greatest achievements in War Thunder. I think the Char 2C might be worse for its BR.

FCM 36 is worst. It was forgotten when they updated armor and damage models. It has 40mm angled armor, even comparable with the 45mm that T-34 has, but somehow the T-34 bounces left and right while this thing at BR 1.0 is instakilled by absolutely everything larger than a machinegun and in any position at any angle. The Char 2C (the nonpremium one) is bad too. It should be much more survivable (damage model needs updated asap) than it is and its BR should be 2.0 at most.

I'm still waiting for some more WWII Hungarian vehicles. Such as: The 40M Nimrod, the Straussler V-4 amphibious light tank, & the 44M Tas. He, even a Tiger I! As the Kingdom of Hungary got 13-15 of them in 1944 under the command of the First Hungarian Army, themselves under German command on the Eastern Front.

This up-date broke many of the rank placements. They screwed up when ''Sorting'' the Tech trees that the f8f got dropped into a lower tier and f6f wildcat with 20mm jumped to a place where its obsolete to all at it match making. Also the dropped the first mig 15 to tier one where it can be the second plane you can research in the entire Ussr line-up. And the requirement changes for unlocks have changed again.

It’s a terrible vehicle in WT, but in it’s defense: it wasn’t made with the intention to fight armoured targets - it was a reconnaissance unit. Gaijin just ingnored that and forgot out the most important part of this armoured car, the option to scout….
