My guy. The pod is on the right wing. You keep losing lock because you roll right which puts the fuselage between you and your target. Roll left so that way you can evade and keep the pod in sight of your target

The "Deadly peek-a-boo" at top tier is actually somewhat reflective of real-world defensive armor tactics, known as "berm drills"

No way you survived the first 5 seconds of spawning in a plane, which is on the russian side.

I find it funny seeing the audio bugs and the fact that even you didn't hear the round that hit you at 8:28 which almost ammo racked you.

Keybind your Laser Designator to something that's easy to press. Whenever you roll out of gimbal limit it will automatically turn off but if you have it bought u can just turn it back on and the bomb will reacquire. A lot of those bomb drops were more than enough to be kills.

Hey Odd you should play the Strv m/42 EH, it has a 75mm gun with more explosive filler then an IS-2, at a BR of 2.7. It also has -15 degrees of depression so I think it would be a fun little vehicle to play.

@OddBawZ 10:05 the green point is your laser bro... all you had to do was turn the laser back on. Because your optics with the red square were still focused on the point. That's why there's a shortcut for the laser. You could have done kills very easily in your video just turne the laser back on. 🤣 PS: 31:28 Unlike the D Maverick, the A and B Maverick do not lock with IR but with black and white contrast. That's why they don't work in heavy rain or at night. However, the A Maverick only locks and tracks at about 3.5km. More or less depending on the size of the object to be locked. The B Maverick has a lock and tracking range of approximately 7km and the D has approximately 12km. Since the A-7D only has A Mavericks, it's no wonder you can't track on a 9km range like at 26:10

I've honestly found that drag bombs are far more worthwhile than the regular or guided bombs. You get to come in low and fast, usually the enemy radar can't ping you.

Just today I had visited one F-14 A on display in Kansas with my father who worked on those aircraft for 15 years. It seems fitting to me to watch a video right after that on the same aircraft. Great video Odd!

Hi Odd, sorry if this is patronising but you can set a key bind that toggles the laser designator, so you can re-enable it after you’ve had to roll and the bomb can still guide in

8:28 mark, same bug I'm getting: getting hit and damaged and no sound to it....look at the ammo/crew. No sound, parts fly off, ammo and crew turn yellow/black.

top tier needs even larger maps, more players in a match and longer matches pretty much. and artillery players need a better long range mechanic, so they can take potshots at spaa at 5 km +, 30v 30 or larger matches with 3 central caps and two on each side that turn into spawn points when you get ab or ac and a nuke at 4000. would be more kool ja, maybe just throw in a couple of gamemode spesific universal backups for extra spawns and make them sp free for one type of ground vehicle each. maybe it would be more fun then for all types of players.

You have to use the GBU-24 Paveway III's that have IOG (Internal Optical Guidance) which allows you to drop them like a standard GBU. But they have their own onboard guidance system that work the same way mavericks do by using their own laser and tracker.

I son't know much about top tier but I've always wondered if you could use teamwork by equiping a plane like the A6e with 8 flare/chaff pods to spawn before the plane with the bombs and juat deny locks to allow safe bombing

Top tier is a complete mess, and I have no intention of ever playing up there even if I reach it.

I feel a lot better knowing that even an extremely experienced player goes through all the same anger and suffering as I do at lower tiers. i use the new ballute bombs on the bombcat, i get amazing results. They’re perfect for avoiding most missile spaas and flying in near mach and flying out.

I dont mind OP AA on top tier, but they have to give the opposite nation the equal one too.

I totally agree. I immediately got hunted by R27ERs and AIM7s, not to mention Chinese Heli AA missiles. No counter-play against the latter, I just died A LOT. SPAAs are dead, and so is CAS, lol. Age of AA jets is upon us!

You should use unguided bombs and lob them in at the spaa. Most of the time they are clueless. Always fun with the il28 and the 3000lb bombs

when the target gets out of the pod's line of sight it stops lasing but it stays locked on it's last known location. when you get the target back in the pod's line of sight you need to re-enable lasing for the bomb to start guiding again which is a keybind you have to set

I swear, Z-19's / KA-50/52 pilots just somehow either get 100% ignored or killed instantly on spawn. More the former for me in my experience, just bad teammates not paying attention or refusing to play a "support role" or go in CAS and destroy them. Ty-90 and 9M39 are almost impossible to dodge as they have this NACK to fly thought flares and hit you anyway.

I find it amusing that modern Russian gear sucks in rl but is supreme in game.

I actually had the opposite experience. Yes it is ridiculously slow, however that's its advantage as by the time I got to the battlefield I was able to take out 2.5 bases, and maybe kill a straddling plane. In about 50% of my games I was either number 1, or in the top 3. This plane allowed me to unlock, F4C, F4F, F100D, F105, F104 and currently working on the F5E. Bear in mind that I really only started using this plane during this summer extreme event as I was planning on getting both the tank and the jet, which I did. I had this plane fully spaded after a week, and that's only because I started using the 105 to speed up my mission score. I spaded the A-7k because I wanted the TV-guided munitions to use in GRB games.

You tried the F-4S with the zunis? Actually works pretty well if you keep your eyes peeled and play cautiously. The rockets overpressure MBTs and there's none of the guided bomb screwing around with them needing to be babysat.

I haven't used them yet but the A1-H has the snake eye on it now. They are the 250 and 500 lb versions

I'm already struggling in 9.7 with constant uptiers. 💀

honestly i love to see this, finally ,as a ground only (with only ground vehicles) realistic player i despise CAS above all, seeing both planes and helis to be unplayable removes a big headache for me

7:25 that, sir, is the 9m123 (550 m/s) , fired by the khrizantema, which is the fastest ground fired atgm in the game, which is also faster than some SAMs, like the roland 1 (500 m/s)

The Z19 is hands down the best all around helicopter, decent anti ground missiles, insane anti air missiles and is insanely agile. Those TY-90s are so good you can literally just play as a airborne SAMS system for your team. 10/10 😂

It is sad to see that the people who make this game cannot make the aircraft behave like they should or do. But I guess they need to maybe ask more about how these aircraft handled in real combat.

You can reaquire laser lock, just set leaser activation buttin in controlls

If you stop lasing the target for the bomb you can begin lasing the target again using a key bind called "Toggle laser designator" it won't work 100% but give you a quite decent chance of delivering the bomb, I am also not sure if this works on the f-14b as I don't have it, but you can try it out. (The green circle in the red square shows you that you are lasing the target)

at 16:26 I don't know much about GBUs in the game but I am pretty sure you have to look and see it if it says "point" next to your bombs on the display before you drop them in order for them to track. hence why the bomb didn't track here

Gaijin tries to model some realistic things (which almost never work well for the player), I wonder if the mavericks not locking is due to them trying to model sunlight scattering off of the snow, which can cause almost a ground-clutter effect in reality, but if they aren't trying to model that effect, shit's just broke mate. I stopped playing this crap a month ago lol.

Finally cas has to work for kills

I do great in the f14b the only aa you have to worry about is the tor

When I play the F14B in ground RB. I instantly turn around and CLIMB try to get 15+ km away and 20-30k ft high than turn back and find a target. The even the pantsir rockets struggle getting that high that fast so you can sometimes outrun them typically I’ll get 2 bomb kills in a good match 4+. But the Russian bias is strong

This is honestly why I avoid these tiers. So much of it is the vehicle doing things for you. You’re just a solenoid trigger that needs to breathe

If TW simulates this, turn left instead of right after you release the bomb. Your TGP is on right pylon, so you need to keep your target to your right instead of left.
