As part of the Central Washington University Department of Biological Sciences 2021 Darwin Day event, Dr. Michael J. Ryan presents 'A Taste for the Beautiful, Darwin's Sexual Selection.' Dr. Ryan, the Clark Hubbs Regents Professor in Zoology at the University of Texas, Austin, will discuss Darwin's second great but controversial theory on sexual selection, and the idea that females have aesthetic preference for male sexual traits, by highlighting recent studies on the neural and cognitive aspects of mate choice.
