Okay just gonna say Solieii was one of the two girls from the sun and the moon game. so you can view this two different ways either A Solieii is still dealing with the tentacle monster in her body which is why she's staring at the mirror because seeing her own reflection seems to grant her control or the poor girl is dealing with the PTSD from the other game and is struggling with side effects. both interpretations are pretty dark but interesting. also explains the pixel art style as it does make the character look different compared to how she looked in the dev's other game. the one checking on her in the ending must be Esmeray her SO.

Just the casual "You ok?" while she's actively being mentally tortured by this thing is gold

I absolutely loved the Don't Escape games, and I immediately caught the same kind of energy from this game. Really love the concept.

I wasn't expecting a continuation of "From the Sun to the Moon", but damn if it wasn't an effective one. Definitely a very interesting way to approach the subject while also keeping in the lore. I like how the pixelated style is so much drearier and grimey then it was in the first game to represent the rut Soliel's fallen into, dealing with this thing all alone out of fear of hurting the ones she loves. I think it did a great job of combining the literal and the figurative here by having their outcome and set-up be practically identical, even if the in-between wasn't. The idea you "win" by staying calm and not immediately searching for things to react to happening around you is also a damn good anxiety metaphor/translation, and works pretty well in the literal scenario of "preventing a tentacle monster inside you from taking over your brain" too. I have to say, Berrywitched was already a pretty quality work for what it was, and everything they've released since has just gotten better and better. I am excited for what else this dev cooks up.

I definitely wouldn't have thought that this game was an extension story of smilestrawbunny's game "From the Sun to the Moon" until the ending part, but it does correlate to the good ending to the story. Solei was taken over by an alien tentacle monster at the end of the story, and in the true end, it was able to be saved by a mirror's reflection. This likely shows that the monster's influence had never really left her body and constantly has to fight it off as it affects her mentally, or it could be mental trauma of the event lingering in her head that makes her see and hear in the game. The pixelated/low res art style works as a type of hazy vagueness with this game and i love it for that. It makes you feel like you're on the cusp of losing yourself, and it honestly still gives off an uneasy feel, even if the feeling I got from it was unintentional.

The more you obsess over the tentacles, the greater its grip. Loved the gameplay loop as storytelling. I can relate to the solitude and relative quietness of the bathroom. While I never went so far as to remove my tentacles, I can understand why this little space is where the protag would want to be during their struggle. Good game.

I just realized, the girl in this is soleil from “from the sun to the moon” which is another body horror game they made! from what I remember, doesn’t soleil in that game end up getting taken possessed by a tentacle (or just some kind of) monster? This is definitely a sequel to that game, and I’m guessing it’s her moon girlfriend that calls through the door in one of the endings. I don’t remember if I’ve watched you play that game or someone else, but hopefully that explains some details to you and some others!

okay but the amount of fear and anxiety i felt while looking at this game was insane. like, the music, being unable to see everything at once, the timer, it all combined into a greatly disturbing experience for me.. very well designed in my opinion

I was a bit curious on how that timer just ticked down and all the stuff that was happenning was more or less affected by the turning rather than the timer. I've had a theory and manly pretty much confirmed it. To that I say bravo.

_Interesting mechanic_ Good warning too - don't let it out. I figured the monster was a metaphor - I almost thought the letting out would be something different, but then I could see the tie to the dev's previous game. Cool use of just the 4 screens.

I felt this was going to be a metaphor and it sure was ^^; Don't forget : Things seem bad now, but they can't get better if you don't stick around! Cut ties with the people that won't stop hurting you, even if they say they'll change. It isn't your job to be their punching bag until they do. You deserve to heal too without putting others before you. You can only help once you have been helped. Sometimes it may be a terrifying change because they have leverage on you (ie : they own the house, they make the money, they are imposing and possibly violent) but it is much better to be in a situation where you are outside and can recover, then inside with someone that *will* make you feel worse. We believe in your recovery. We believe in you. Fight on, move on.

I'm so impressed and grateful that they included those numbers at the end. After my child passed away I started seeing s**cidal ideation and such EVERYWHERE and I noticed that a lot of games will have characters take that way out but never tell the player, who may be connecting with the characters, how to get help or that they SHOULD get help, you know what I mean?

This is an interesting art direction considering the devs other games. Yeah the symbolism is really on the nose. Honestly just doing nothing in those scenarios can keep the bad stuff away real good and its so cool to see it portrayed this way.

This for some reason reminded me of the video game where you gotta report the anomalies.

An interesting art style for this dev, I think it worked perfectly for the tone of this game, both gameplay and endings. The story is fairly easy to grasp, and still felt quite strong despite the short runtime.

This whole game is super Lovecraftian, and I love it. Kinda wish more games would use cosmic horror elements, they feel way better as a scare than stuff like jumpscares and plain gore.

All that's left is for you to do Little Red Memories!

I really really enjoyed watching this one. It’s such a unique take on the struggles one goes through in a situation such as this. very good visual depiction of how it can feel sometimes.

manly is the only one i can rely on good gameplay and good commentary !!! thank you for that honestly, if it’s a game i haven’t played you’re the only one who tries to understand and searches everything ! i use to get so frustrated with my fave let’s players because i loved their commentary and jokes but were missing such vital points of the game so now i watch u first bc u give both !! and play all endings so when i watch the others i’m like “hehe manly found something here” thank u sm it’s truly so rare to find dedicated let’s players like you !!!!

Funny you said this was from the creator of berrywitched instead of the sun to the moon, since the latter game seems more related. This is the sun character from that game, Soleil.

The last two games were fairly sweet, even with the horror elements, so this was a pretty cool style shift to see from the dev.

Not to take away from the message of the game, but it went in a completely different direction than what I thought. My dumb simple brain was thinkin it was a metaphor for having anxiety about being loud while using the toilet, cause its something I get nervous about in like public toilets cause its embarassing. Boy was I way off course.

What happened was pretty bad, but I humbly hold the opinion that worse things could happen with tentacle monsters.

After watching this video I can feel the tentacle monsters coming inside me.

Oh I think this is Soleil from the dating game. During the last date she got caught by the tentacles monster that basically is still alive as long as a part of it is inhabiting someone's body. The gae had 2 endings. 1 where Soleil was possessed by the monster and got killed, and the other where her partner finds a mirror and saves them, though it's only a temporary solution if we take what we see here as canon. I don't remember their partner's name because it was a little complicated but I believe they live together and they are the one talking to her in the second ending here. It's sad that she has to live with this monster inside for the rest of her life and sacrifice herself to protect others.

That does suck when a tentacle monster is inside me and not for a fun time.

I interpreted it as Soleil getting possessed by that abomination from the previous game bc it was hinted the monster took over her body. It seems she has some consciousness left and is upset bc her mom is part of the cause and continues to ruin her life. So she's trying to to keep her gf safe, but in the bad endings she probably thought ending it was how she can save her gf.

The description at the beginning seems to indicate a similar problem to the feelings I fought off as early as this evening. I made a mistake that annoyed my stepmother, so I thought I deserved to puke up my dinner tonight (an easy feat considering that my body and pizza which is what we had tonight don't always agree). The only thing that stopped me was potentially having to explain why puke was clogging the toilet right after I said I had to poop. My body got lucky this time.

This reminds me a lot of what i make, i love all things even hinting at chthulian like, i like creating parasitic like creatures that bind with a host to become very eldritch looking and become primal humanoid creatures with parts of their bodies resembling spider apendages and tentacles

reminds me of cursetorn, same kind of unnerving sprite energy and the little jumpscares where you’d turn around and the afflicted person would be staring directly into your soul💀 awesome game!!

i will throw my 2 cents out since im also dealing with it myself an does kick my butt some days, but this dev really did a good job on this game even if its short but the message about depression is there. her depression took the form of a monster hence "dont let it out" is her fighting against depression. Bad ending - gave in Good ending - Fought it and won but at what cost? Sure she lived but the cost is she now has to continue too deal with it and wonder "when will it happen again, i am tired of going through this". fighting against depression takes A LOT out of you especially when you have to deal with it alone. hard to find help with this type of serious issue when the world says "Fake, others have it worse or stop doing it for attention." Then you have youtubers and streamers coming out and making the awareness EVEN less serious and somehow made it into a trend for more views which is DISGUSTING.
