New to your channel and enjoying it. I've been gardening for 5yrs now. I've not put prices up this year. Just standardised them. For quick regular maintenance some where paying £15 the majority where at £20. This year everyone will pay the same. £20. I've bought a brand new mower, had the van sign written and a few other bits and bobs. So it's, all got to be paid for. But price increases are tricky to say the least this year.
Your not wrong as you can soon out price yourself and lose the job. But im still a firm believer if you put the effort in and do a really good consistent job it doesn't matter what you charge peoe with still have you back. Take for instance I charge £10 an d only do a half hearted job and stand on my phone most of the time. People will get pissed off Ware if you charge £20 an hour say andd your ther same amount of time but just crack on get twice as much done andd leave your phone in van customers will appreciate it and have you back. And on the raise this year I've have done it but to the people who haven't had a raise for years so I just made a point of saying I'm bringing everyone up to date and on the same. And not one has said no in fact I've got ton extra work
@@lincsfencingandgardeningse9128 I've had two customers who only want monthly cuts now due to my price standardation. But I think come the growing season they may go back to fortnightly. Ordinarily I'd fuck monthly cuts off. But where not living in ordinary times and money is money at the end of the day. I've also had one who has said there going to buy a lawn mower and do it themselves. Good luck to them! I've kept my prices the same for 5yrs. I'm due a slight increase I think.
@@funkyduckproductions.8844 Definitely if you've not done it for 5yrs. I allway charge slightly more for no thly cuts as I can take a little longer and there's more waste to take away at one time.
Dunno why people think us gardeners have to have our prices quibbled! I never hear anyone trying to knock down the price of the coffee they order or have their nails done and kick up at the till. Plumbers and electricians charge for turning up before even doing anything. Try telling a mechanic after having done the work that he/she should charge less! Time and skills cost, as does running machinery, insurance etc etc. It always seems to be gardeners that get the grief.
That's because people don't see it as a proper skill unfortunately. So many people just buy a van and. A few tools and call them selfs gardeners yet they won't even touch boarders they just wanna cut grass.
@@lincsfencingandgardeningse9128 I actually ended up driving all the way from Torbay up to North Wales to collect mine. I also agree with your thoughts regarding not going back to your client, once they start moaning about price that’s the time to walk away. If anyone stops me whilst I am working and the first thing they ask is what my rate is I know damn well they are going to be trouble.
Glad you got sorted with a van mate. Hope it goes well. I get what you say about videos. I didn’t realise how may time I said er till I watched one back. I try not to do in now but it still happens.
To be honest even if she agreed to pay you hourly rate id be so hacked off with her i wouldnt go back i generally charge £15 ph some.pay 20ph and a realise that this isnt enough but i have worked for the same people every week for 20yrs all through the year and some pay me more for extra tools i use and some even pay when iv had to take time off so sometimes.its a fine.balance..also i do not have a particular large out goings and this is a advantage..so.my advice is dump her and find customers that appreciate your hard work they are out there 👍
Hi Mike I take that garden job the lady has moved in and the daughter from previous customer told her your price. 👍did you sell your other van? What van are you getting now then? 👍hope you had a good day 👍
Cheers was a good day yeah spoke to the daughter of the last lady who passed and she told me she hadn't had the conversation with her. I will reveal nxt week when I do a proper vidd of it. M
