Love it. Clear, short, easy to digest. Too many players aim for green/net instead of green/yellow and reset. Half the reason people think a drop is so difficult is that they think if the other person does a mediocre roll volley, it was a bad shot. Unless its a red, its workable. Stop missing drops and reset and you'll win way more.

Your visual cues on what shot to hit are so effective. I often 'tighten up' on the court bc I'm trying to figure out what shot to hit and overthink it. You simplify decision-making which allows me to play with a more natural flow. Thank you so much!

Kyle, your videos are the best. I have a request; I am in need of a training routine to do on days when I don’t play. For example, core strengthening exercises or something to strengthen your wrists for flicks. I am also in need of a good stretching routine to do before playing. This is WITHOUT A DOUBT the best explanation I’ve seen to explain the nuances of the 3rd (or 5th or 7th) shot drop. Great concepts, incredible use of video and graphics to make them understandable. Kyle- can I come train with you and become your best friend? Or at least come train with you?

Great video. Got to say as an aside, I wish we would start calling it a Drop (Shot). I’m helping introduce the game to so many new players and without fail, the majority want to know how to do the “3rd shot drop.” Almost robotic-like assumption that you serve, return, 3rd shot drop and that’s the way you play. Quite a few options with a 3rd shot and the 3rd shot is never exclusively a drop. It’s become my pet peeve. Let’s just work on your Drop/Reset as you can pull it out at any time. Feels like we limit creativity when we prescribe a “3rd shot Drop” as a mindless automatic in the game without really understanding why you do.

Yeah well said! Multiple options on the 3rd. And youre right drops / reset can have on the 15th shot if thats what the situation calls for. Going to think how to better articulate this in my pickleball school! Thanks for the comment

I was a professional tennis player but due to some injury I had to leave tennis and I have started playing pickleball since last few days but I was really lost about the third shot strategy, cause to me, as a tennis player the drive seems the most easiest but I can see how effective this third shot is... Hey man, thanks for taking the time to read, search and respond. Unfortunately, that is not the one I was thinking of. Though I am happy to watch this one again. 😊 It's ok, I remember it well enough to make a not so pretty version. What about when the opponent like to take their 4th shot at the apex of the bounce? How does one read that and know if its safe to move in?

Great question! 1.) evaluate how strong those attacks are from that person. If you hit a high bouncing 3rd, id put that in the same category as a yellow light, bc while theyre not (usually) hitting down on the ball, they still can create some challenge for you! If that apex is still lower than the net, id move in (green light) expecting to counter attack instead of walk to the kitchen and dink battle it out
