A Time Well Spent on a Christmas Day with Family in Japan Yr.2019

That’s what I love about japan, they put so much love and effort into things to please the customer even the fast food. It’s not like here in the west where everything is just thrown together sloppily. Japan is the best :)

It’s only the last 5 christmases that I’ve learnt to love the spirit of it. My childhood was abusive by my parents so i have very bad memories but my OH has taught me to embrace the happiness.

I love seeing how other people live. Traditionally, my family makes a turkey at home and makes sweet potatoes, potatoes, gravy, peas, green bean casserole, carrots, cranberry jelly and yeast rolls. This year, we made pizza. Then when I went to another family house we ordered food out. We ordered deep fried breaded chicken, mashed potatoes, French fries, biscuits, mac and cheese, coleslaw and apple pie. Merry belated Christmas.

Christmas used to be the one definite day of the year my family wouldn't argue. We could sit together in peace and open gifts and enjoy each others company, have a nice breakfast and a nice dinner later in the evening. But when my grandparents passed away, my mom and I had one last year of that, it was a sad year. My mom and I don't get along anymore like that. It's a Christmas I will never have with my biological family ever again but that's ok. I have a new family now who loves and accepts me for who I am, not who I was or who they want me to be. We spend Thanksgiving and Christmas together with both our extended family and with their biological side of the family that loves and accepts us for who we are. Christmas means a special time I can be at peace and feel all the love, magic and acceptance MY family has to offer. No tears. No pain. No misery. Just smiles, good food, good vibes and good people. Sorry if this made anyone sad, and Im sorry to those who can relate. I hope you all find your happiness in this life and had a very Merry Christmas.

I love decorating our home and cooking delicious meals and treats for my husband during Christmas. 🎄 🍗 🍰 🍪 I don't get to see my family because I live very far away from them. Sometimes I feel really homesick during the holidays, but I try to focus on making Christmas special because I love making my husband feel loved and seeing him smile. 💕 Plus, I'm pregnant, so next year we'll get to celebrate Christmas with our baby girl! 🍼

In my family we have no Christmas tradition. I didn't receive as much as a text from my parents or sister to say Merry Christmas. Even though they don't live far away. We've had many family problems that continue to get worse as we grow further apart. I've never received a wrapped surprise gift in my entire life. Lol! It's always nice to see other people preserving the family spirit and getting together to celebrate holidays and make memories :)

Christmas to me is a season of love and giving. I celebrated my Christmas with my family at home with lots of home cooked food and of course with a xmas trees

I'm glad to hear about and see your lovely Christmas! Ours was happy, our three children each loved their gifts. It wasn't easy because all three like a different anime series so I had to get many of the gifts shipped to me from South Korea. The happiness was all the gifts arrived on time, and my 14 year old daughter actually cried tears of joy when she opened them 😊 I received thoughtful gifts from my husband and kids as well, plus bought a gift for myself. My FabFitFun Winter subscription box came with a large UnHide brand faux rabbit fur blanket all for meeee lol Merry Christmas!!

To me, Christmas is bittersweet. On Christmas 2005, I got my little dog, Lucky. He was my best friend ever since. With him by my side, I never felt lonely. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer on December 14th this year. We had to put him down on January 2nd. It was the hardest thing to do. But I saw how he became weaker and weaker with every day. He was my little boy for almost 15 years. He was always with me when I decorated our Christmas tree or when I baked Christmas cookies. I feel so empty since he is gone. He will always be in my heart and from now on, I will appreciate the small things even more

Christmas is a day to relax and enjoy the simple things I like to do and (if possible) be with friends or family who bring me joy. I'm in Japan this year for winter break so I couldn't see my parents, but I called them as I made good food, spent time taking care of my friend's cats, and ordered a pizza for dinner while watching Netflix and playing with kitties. Much better Christmas than I was expecting

Times have changed. We're now apart, separated by thousands of miles. Although we're not together, I always make sure to send them cards and give them a call. A candle light brunch, how lovely! My mom's side of the family is German, and we always had the most delicious breads and sweets around Christmastime with dried fruits and spices. There was one authentic restaurant in my city with a grocery attached that we'd go to when my sister and I were little and get treats. My favorite Christmas cookies are called Pfeffernüsse. Love celebrating Christmas. I had to work this year but we celebrated it this past weekend. Christmas Eve we celebrate the Italian seven fishes tradition. On Christmas Day we do ham, potatoes, green beans. This year on Christmas Day we went to go see Christmas lights, it was fun.

For me, Christmas is about acts of kindness/generosity toward others. I might not have a lot of money to spend on gifts, but I always offer to host a lunch or dinner at my house for family and friends, and I always invite people that have all their family overseas or don't have family to spend it with, because I understand that it can be hard at this time of year for some people
