Magic Journeys yes I did videopolis back in July of 1988. I was a little kid who didn’t care about making a fool of himself dancing but I was there for the music. 80s pop is my favorite music of all time. Now to answer your other questions. The bubble gum you where talking about is called bubble yum( not to be confused with yums at videopolis) oh and yes I would love to see videopolis come back to Disneyland. The place where it was at is the original spot where videopolis is located. The theater was made for it back in 1985 then changed in 1989. I was at the event hoping to see you guys but we miss each other.
My favorite '80s memory: being in junior high and old enough to go to Disneyland for the first time with just a group of friends, no grown-ups! And, yes, we danced at the original Videopolis! Also, loved seeing my nephew Jack, who works at Disneyland now, protecting C3-PO at 11:35 in this video!
My favorite memory of Disneyland in the 80’s is going for the opening weekend of Captain EO. The park was open for three days straight....72 hours!!! We went all hours of the night. The line for Captain EO Wound down Mainstreet almost the the train tunnel. I remember getting there after 1:00am one night. It was a great memory!!
Wow so awesome ! I love Michael, I went to see Captain EO at Epcot a couple years ago and it was amazing. I was almost brought to tears because it felt like Michael was right in front of me lol
Hmm. You're right, after the 90's party this one seemed rushed and kind of a last minute thought. It it had potential, but I appreciate your efforts in trying to make most of what you could. Glad you got to see Roger Rabbit!
Funny enough, there was this awesome guy cosplaying as MJ from Captain EO... I wasn't there, but I saw him on TikTok. He was doing the dance and everything. Best thing I've ever seen!! :D
My fondest 80's disney memory is Grad Night 1986 the year i graduated high school. Videopolis was jumpin with Mister Mister and the river stage had Miami Sound Machine and Klymaxx. We partied til about 5 am. I still have the program from that night, shows didnt start til 11:15 pm and last shows were 4:15 am
My favorite memory of Disneyland in the 80’s was parking across from the front gate to Disneyland and going on the tram before they turn the parking lot into DCA also going on the People Mover and the Adventure Thru Inner Space attraction
Gummibeary juice is a reference to the Disney show Adventures of the Gummi Bears not to Care Bears. And now the song is stuck in my head. 🎼Gummi Beaaaaaaars! Bouncing here and there and everywhere...
My absolute favorite memory of Disneyland in the 80's was riding the flying rockets when it was above the Tomorrowland Terrace in the heart of Tomorrowland. I can still remember flying those controlable rockets and looking down at the stage and the band playing "Automatic" by Stevie Wonder and the Pointer Sisters. When I think of Disneyland in the 80's I think of Tomorrowland when Tomorrowland was at it's finest. Sitting on the rails at what is now called Galatic Grill, me and my buddies would watch the girls go by wondering who we would talk to. Good times.
I was there last night, also. My favorite memory from the 80's was Adventure Thru Inner Space. I also could not belive that there was no Captain Eo, and they should have put some video games in Starcade for this event.
I’m super glad you guys liked it overall! We were the two guys in front of you in line for the 80s swag at launch bay. Very great meeting you guys! We didn’t get out until 10! Overall I was slightly disappointed in 80s night and couldn’t justify $110 for 4 hours. Videopolis and the bubble gum beignets were my favorite part of the whole thing!
The only time I went in the 80s was in 83 with my uncle and cousin. I remember riding the people mover and there was a Tron overlay. I also remember hating all the rides with drops and my uncle forcing me to go on everything. He must have felt bad and bought me a thumper stuffed animal, which I have to this day.
I still cant believe we ended up in background of your video walking right behind yall. I watch all your videos all the time and now this one we keep coming back to cause were in it without even realizing we were.
Seems like Disney could have put more thought into this event. Could have been so much better. But just the same, the two if you always make it fun!! Our favorite memory of Disneyland in the 80's, the opening of SPLASH MOUNTAIN!
My favorite memory in the 80s at Disneyworld was a strange one. As my brother and I were waiting for our wives to return from the restroom, my brother said.. .Hey why is your pregnant wife chasing that woman. My very pregnant wife was chasing a woman who had stolen her favorite sunglasses in the restroom. She got the glasses, and I can still see her in my mind running her down. We love Disney
So many memories of Grad night 1987 ..seeing Wang Chung at Videopolis!! I wish I could have gone to 80’s night 😢..at least I get to enjoy it through your video! Thanks!! 💖😍
@@stacyspring7584 old comment, but still wanted to respond. One of my favorite memories ever was seeing Gloria Estefan do a free concert at Malory Square in KW, Fl to promote her new album. She is amazing!
Best part of the 80s as a kid was not having to pay for anything 😁 Captain EO, having to take a tram from lot parking lot to park, Disney money, cool rubber sharks sold at jungle cruise, Mr. Toads adventure ride, Haunted House seemed different, Tomorrow Land was so 60s looking, always thought the Blue Bayou restaurant was fake with robotic people eating from my view of the boat. By the way you two must have a great dental plan 😁
Favorite 80s memory: Waiting FOREVER to see Captain EO when it opened and being blown away at the 3D. I went home with my very own plush of the flying little fuzzball pet thing from the movie.
When I was 10 years old Me and my family flew from New Zealand to LA to visit Disneyland in 1984. I also got to visit in '86 and 88'. Tomorrowland was in it's prime back then with the people mover, skyway cabins. I also loved the Country Bear Jamborine, Journey to Mars and the Electrical Parade Ahh the memories
We were there. Wish we could have see you guys in person! It was fun, but we spent most of time in Galaxy's edge the lines were so short. We rode Smugglers Run twice I got to be pilot and engineer. We met Ewoks and R2D2 and C3P0. I got the black spire hot chocolate and they had stand by for Oga' catina so we got it right away didn't have to wait! But my friends hated the Toydaria Milk Mango swirl think it tasted awful lmao. But they loved Galaxy's edge as a whole and the ewoks lol
Wow, congrats on putting this up so quickly! If you feel comfortable sharing this info, may I ask what you both do for work (I assume RU-vid is a side-hussle/for funsies)? I'm so curious!
roxy72 literally, you took my thoughts right out of my head! I’ve been so curious! I mean they both went to college and you can tell they’re both extremely intelligent! I know a lot of people drop their jobs when they become more popular on RU-vid.
Yes, I was a frequent Disneyland visitor in the 80s. My favorite memory is when they opened the Star Tours ride and had a 60 hour marathon. My best friends and I bought passes, We would stay for as long as we could stay awake and then run over to the friend who lives the closest, about 10 minutes away, to get a couple hours sleep and then going back… Riding Star Tours at least a dozen times, Dancing with the robot from Rocky IV, Just being total Disney/Star Wars nerds decades before the new films or Galaxy’s Edge were even thought of. It was the best Disney experience ever.
My parents are super Disney fans, so they took me and my brother for the attraction openings for both Captain EO and Star Tours. Best memory was seeing the Star Tours symbol projected onto the side of Matterhorn with lasers during opening night! Back then, that was something you didn't see everyday! I still have my wristband from the opening night event for Star Tours. :)
Hi Guys, we love your videos, we watch you eating your food whilst we eat our food sat at the dinner table here in England. My Mum and Dad went to Disneyland in 91 so not quite the 80s but still wearing 80s clothes, which were very bright, my mum had a wild 80s perm. Their best ride was the Disneyland Skyway. If you want to see them ride it, I have a video on my channel, plus other old videos of theirs from the 90s of both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
Our Grad Night 82 guys had had to wear suits and girls dresses and bands were K.C and Sunshine band, Kool and the Gang, Sister Sledge, Shalamar , Tommy Tutone, Pappa Du Run Run, Skyy
I was at Grad Night at Disneyland in 1988! (Yes, I'm old. And I love your videos!) Such a great night back then. We bussed from Chula Vista, Hilltop High School. I know we were told to dress up. The only time I ever wore a skirt to Disney!
Well since I was born in 88 and Disneyland Paris only opened in 92, I have no 80s memory from disneyland :/ But I have 90s memories ^^ like being scared as hell in Alice's maze, being mind blown in star tour and getting a Thumper plush (still have it !)
Loved this video! I grew up in the 80's and I would go to Disneyland every year! The prices for items were so much cheaper! Lol, loved all the Characters too
Came down from Canada. Watch your videos all the time. Had opportunity to purchase tickets to 80’s night. I was a teen during the 80’s. Just could justify the $109 per person. So we’ll live the event thru your video
I know it's a random memory of my visit to Disneyland is the 80's but the two things I remember were the sky ride that would ride over the park into the matterhorn, and my favorite souvenir of a pen that when turned upside down would show a boat going into Monstros mouth 🤣
@@bunnymomjulie6719 thats so awesome. Yea I was a kid (8) when I got my souvenirs in the 80's, showed them to my kid daughters a while back and found them broken that later that day 🤣🤣☹
@@DabdaddyJoe69 Most of my stuff is still in the shed at my mom's house so it will be interesting to see what shape it's all in someday when we go through everything. RIP your stuff. xoxo
In the 1980s I got to visit Disneyland once every summer. My mom saved money by parking at one of the hotels across the street and we walked over. There was no parking structure in those days. One summer I got my first pair of mouse ears with my name embroidered on the back. I was a cool kid.
I love watching your videos !! You two seem like such genuine people i gotta get back to Disneyland haven't been since I was a kid wish I had a season pass lol I'm jealous
It's so cool how Disneyland has an event for the 80s. I love the 80s and I've never been to it. For events like this, I really wish I was an annual pass holder but I'm not. I hope when I finally am, I'll go to this event. 😁
I’m living vicariously through you guys specifically with the bubble gum flavored beignet. That would be a hard pass for me. lol. It reminds me like when cereals have limited flavors like cotton candy. But good for you for being adventurous foodies. 😊👍🏼❤️
Favorite 80's memories are running around Tom Sawyer Island, the people mover and just being a kid meeting all the characters and getting yummy treats.. it was just all so magical!
Lisa O I was a teen in the 80s too, and I was fortunate enough to live 15 minutes from Disneyland so I used to go all the time and really really miss it.
i was born in 80s but my family took to world so in late 8os i was at disney world when got into mickey mouse house to meet mickey he played with my hair my mom use say boys like you play with your hair so mickey mouse likes me ha my favorite disney 80s moive is litlle mermaid i was 6 when little mermaid came out
It did seem a bit boring. For 109. Bucks. And a slow start. Only things that seem radical is the foods 🤷🏼♀️ You can tell McVee a little disappointed. I would be to Well at least you made the best of it. Love how Jannell is just seeing the brighter side of it all. I agree 4 hours is not enough time back in the day when I worked there they would close the park at 6pm for events and we had to stay after midnight, and overnight for Grad night , wonder why it's only 4 hours?
I remember standing just where you were at the entrance to Videopolis at my GradNite. Roger was playing. The place was so packed we couldn't get in. They should do 80's night once a week like they do the swing dancing. Some day... when all this is over...
My favorite time in the park during the 80’s was when listening to live bands played in TomorrowLand. I remember the most a band playing The Human League - (Keep Feeling) Fascination 🎶 song. You have it here at 4:36, big thanks for adding it in your video. For me that brought back fond 80’s Disneyland memories. *These days do they still have bands perform live in and play in TomorrowLand ... Right there at the Galactic Grill??? Probably called something else back then. 🎶
Hey guys! We met on your way out of Launch Bay. - My favorite 80s Disneyland memory is riding on the gondolas that took you up in the air and across the lands and through the Matterhorn.
The People Mover, Grad Night when I got to see Jody Watley, New Edition, The Cover Girls, and other groups performing for Free! And using tickets for the rides lol. Dating myself 🤣
Sorry you were disappointed by this installment of 80s night. I was born in 1967 and did most of my real ‘growing up’ in the 80s! Good times! Thanks for the memories guys!
