Ultralight doesn't always mean flimsy and not 100% water proof. I have a few dyneema composite tarps and they've never failed me. I don't baby them either. The problem is cost.... they're too GD expensive!

I wonder if it could be waterproofed to be more fully functional? I almost bought a dyneema tarp but I don't want to have to be nice to things out in the woods. I have an Aquaquest tarp that is fantastic. Come in different weights and sizes depending on your mood and have a lifetime guarantee.

Looking for a good tarp to hang as a rain canopy for a campsite and got super excited when I saw 7 oz and not dynema, but sad to find out these tarps are so small. Should put the size in the description or thumbnail. I'm on the search for something 8x10 or 10x10 that's lightweight. and looks like its either going to be heavy or dynema.

My gi ACU poncho doesn't have those gromets either kinda sucks. Hey I can answer this do y'all get issues ponchos anymore? Or is it the tarps now

I am not sure what you mean by ultralight is flimsy. There are ultralight backpackers that hike the AT and PCT. Thes hiking trips are rugged and can last 6 months to a year. Some hike 40 miles a day. These people will tell you if the gear is flimsy. I have been in the infantry and the infantry can learn a lot from the ultra light back packing community. Check out Jupiter Hikes and Darwin on the trails. These guys are top notch dudes. Most of them use dynema tents and dynema tarps. Anything but flimsy. It will put your infantry gear to shame.
