Japan is great! The infrastructure, culture, how clean and well put together everything is, how safe it is. Managed really good. And in Tokyo, city of many millions one can feel at peace. It’s a country everyone should visit in their lifetime.

Don't miss the Shinto shrine on the island of Itsukushima (popularly known as Miyajima), best known for its "floating" red torii gate. It is a day trip from Hiroshima. After the shock on the senses that Hiroshima is, the peaceful and beautiful island was great medicine.

um,... excuse me for the correction,... Kukai (not Kaiku) but now he is called Kobo-Daishi ... there are also really nice hiking trails in the surrounding mountains but you have to careful for bears. It's nice you went to the cemetery,... many of the ruling clans wanted to be buried or memorialized here so it's a neat history lesson to pass each grave.

The founder of Koya is kuu-kai. If you like koya, there is a place called Nikko in Tochigi prefecture north of Tokyo that was founded by ieyasu, the founder of unified Japan. They have shaved ice so good there, you will be depressed for the rest of your life after you leave Japan.

The cemetery reminds me of the one in Qufu, China where Confucius is buried. When I visited being that my 2 colleagues & I were short on time (as we were on a day trip to Qufu) instead of walking around the “forest cemetery” we took a hired motorized convenience driven by a local at a the entrance of the cemetery. Do they have such an option at this cemetery?

17:18 Yes they were rice balls, onigiri. Also that particular noodle soap is called udon. And here are three words for your future use. Sashimi is the raw slices of fish. Nigiri is the raw slices of fish on top of rice. Maki are rolls that includes raw fish, seaweed, cucumbers, shrimp and amongst other things. Sushi is the general term westerners use to describe Japanese raw fish type of food.

So is it visit the tourist information centre, & get told make sure you've done all you want to do, including eating out by 6pm🤔 as the town seems to shut down 😕Peak Season is that really the way to promote tourism, think not...

Gabriel, I absolutely LOVE what you’re doing!!! ❤️ Every day I look forward to getting an alert for a new video from you. I’ve got ritualistic about it in almost a meditative way by being at peace and enjoying that little slice of the world you post during my day. Big time music junkie here so I’m loving your ambient song choices too! Only thing I don’t like about your vlog is not being able to find them! 😆 #chairmanmaf
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 6 лет назад
Cool Dustin, glad you're digging the videos and the music. I'm assuming you've figured out that the music is always listed in the description below each video? A lot of the music comes from the youtube audio library. So that's available through your youtube account itself. I'm not sure if it's available to everyone or only if your channel is at a certain level. Some of my recent music is from Epidemic Sound, a website I just signed up for. But you would need to have an account to be able to download the music from them. Some of the other music comes from other websites that you can definitely download from. If that's the case then I include a link to the song. So make sure to check below the video and there might be a direct link. There's one for the last song that was in this video.
@GingerNights
@GingerNights 6 лет назад
Gabriel Traveler Yes, I’ve seen the links posted on your videos. I’m a big time Spotify user so I just meant I checked there first, and then Apple Music and Pandora. Next for me would be just finding if the artist had a website, but I just may sign up on that Epidemic Sound site. I really love ambient music and try to keep it a bit organized to only going to 1 or 2 sites or sources to listen when I’m traveling or in the car to keep it all together and organized. Really appreciate your response. ✌️

@wilfredotorres6628
@wilfredotorres6628 6 лет назад
Hi Gabriel, I just wanted to point that you're showing Buddhists temples yet Japan had a time in there history where Jesuits from Portugal tried to introduce Christianity to Japan, in the 17 Century. This is based on a book. The film is based on the 1966 novel by famed Japanese novelist Shusaku Endo, which tells the story of a young, idealistic Jesuit priest from Portugal who lands on the shores of Nagasaki in southern Japan - then the only part of the country open to foreigners. The novel, titled Chinmoku (Silence), depicts severe persecution inflicted on converts to Christianity - many of whom were impoverished villagers forced into hiding. The Christians came out of the shadows when Japan ended two hundred years of self-imposed isolation in the 1860s. Before filming, Scorsese - who said he has wanted to do the film for over a quarter century - visited the areas mentioned in the book and interviewed descendants of these so-called hidden Christians.

Do you know if the buddhists there are following the first or second buddha? Most people arent aware, but there were actually two buddhas. The first Buddha incarnated around 1800BC, and was a Vishnu avatar and he preached ahimsa (non violence). Then the second buddha, (sahkya simha buddha) incarnated around 560BC and he preached voidism. This second buddha was actually not a vishnu avatar and he achieved enlightenment after renouncing his kingdom. This is the buddha that most buddhists follow.
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 6 лет назад
As far as I know all Buddhists are following the teachings of the second Buddha you referred to from the 6th century BC. It sounds like the first one you mention might be someone from Hinduism or maybe Jainism? I'm really not sure about that.
