No, the best was Crispin Glover. He had a wall with dimensionally realistic wax sculptures of various Eye Diseases from the 18th Century. Even Joe Coleman doesn't have that, and I've been to his place personally. Lots of real preserved human specimens including cross sections of heads, babies in jars and mummies.
@@JonMcAfee I know, but that isn't going to stop me from addressing and calling out racism. But regardless, I have been following GG since the 90's. Just cause I call his band and himself racist that doesn't mean he hasn't shared some quality points of view that will likely last a very long time. IIRC, didn't he graduate as a woman. And then he goes onto become the small club show that 99% of the world wouldn't be able to handle a full set of his show.
When I was a teenager living in Hawthorne I used to take the train to alot of shows. There was a show at Lamours I believe it was I met Merle completely different because I was Expecting what you would get with his brother. But even then in the mid 90s he was just a soft spoken polite person. Everyone even from the hardcore scene that have met him say the same
I don't remember what it was but my friend bought something Merle was selling and he was nice enough to throw in a hand-written letter along with some memorabilia. Nice guy
Same! I bought vol 3 of the murder junkies 2005 European tour dvd-r and the gg allin and antiseen dvdr from him and he sent in a note in the package to me and I messaged him the next day and he responded thank you. Hes a real one indeed
Merle is by far the most personable person I’ve met in the punk scene. He just comes off as a regular guy. That apartment is the 1st place I met him, of course Buying some Murder Junkies gear and some Gacy letters…he threw in some Ramirez stuff too.
I had a small recording studio called TCS in Omaha NE, the murder junkies came through town and I did a live record for them at the saddle creek bar. It was wild Dino got naked and such. I told Merle to credit me if it was released.....but I don't think to this day it has.... Anyway, maybe someday it will surface. I still got mine, and I guess that's a rarity of such! Good fun, scary shit😂
Sorry to get yer hopes up,I forgot to mention after many drinks this was in 08. Post GG....but I got to burn one with the band and it was as close to the "experience" any of of us could get . It was still a thrill to meet Meril and Dino, and record the music. Not sure the name of the guy that embodied GG.....but it was sumpin else.....will never forget that night. Rob B.
I remember that place!! NYC apartments are generally pretty congested…and iguana have a particular smell, not necessarily bad…but if you know it, you know it and it was present in that apartment.
Depends on the apartment. There is a lot of rent controlled apartments. Cyndi Lauper stayed in a rent controlled place for years (and she still might).
I know he's done with collecting, but I always thought a Joe Coleman piece, and a Manson spider would be a get. Coleman is just awesome, very Robert Williams but macabre. And the spider is just awesome..where did Manson fund the time, lol.
Johnny Puke ain't a good guy tbh. Hes the one that got GG the dose of H that killed him. Surprised hes still alive considering all the brain damage he has tbh
Thats so true. I have friends who lived there at the time in little places and it was so much cheaper then. Nowadays you eithee have to know people or have at least 3-5 amazing paying jobs to rent a decent apartment haha
Ok. It's supposed to be Gacy aka Pogo the Clown. That makes way more sense as I was thinking it looked very much like Art the Clown from those Terrifier films, despite it being 1992.
I literally bumped into Merle at the Long Beach monthly flea market like 15 years ago. I shoulda asked for a photo but he was with his chick and I didn't wanna bother him.
@@Tattooedpain Ah thats right. I was thinking of someone else who mentioned someone had a roll of film of GG partying right before he died. Yeah they would be interesting to see
@fluxxus do you have one of your own that you could post a picture of? I’d love to see the graphics on something that wasn’t an early 90s home video camera 😂
So funny they have a picture of Herschell Gordon Lewis on their wall. Yes, he directed slasher films, but he was actually a conservative businessman. I wonder what he would think of this. RIP, Herschell.
There exists a photo actually of Merle and him online with Merles wife. Merle was dressed all punk rock and stuff but Herschell didnt seem to mind. May he rest in peace indeed
@@kerrysrarities oh yeah wayne paintings and all weird things famous serial killer had done like paintings and stuff are very collectibles and valutable ...
When I look at him today, in 2023... I feel deeply sad. Sure, what "is" is cool but what coulda' been with just a LITTLE common sense to go with the punk, ya' know?
Yeah. I feel you. I kind of wonder how different the careers of both him and GG would have been if they went more mainstream and popular with GG and the jabbers etc. Cause they were such a good band and if Merle joined them it would have been so different. It is what it is
I figured. People bitched at me absolutely NON stop about this and saying it wasn't rare and they saw this exact video on youtube many many times before I uploaded it yet I dont remember seeing it on before. Then again I haven't been looking at GG content on youtube for that long so yeah
