Looks like an awesome place bro !! ..I'd love to live there !! ..That cinema will be 1930' for sure !! All the banks are closing due to online services. I prefer Iceland over Tesco.. ha ha ! ..there was a funeral parlour in Watford.. it said on the window ..'You may laugh as you pass.. But we will get you in the end !' lol

I'd have been compelled to sign my name on that rozzer wagon ..do you know the difference between a cop car and a hedgehog ? In the cop car the pricks are on the inside !

I used to live in Camborne 23 years ago (back in New Zealand now). Always loved Redruth. Oh yes, I remember good old Jim's Cash & Carry!

The supermarket near the bottom end of town was Lyptons ,with a cafe upstairs. And the tv shop opposite was Jewel's .You also forgot Johnny at the Hong Sing Chinese take away. The best Chinese in the country in my opinion. The Clinton Social Club was a cracking little place, run back in the day by the legendary Redruth Rugby Player Michael Gould. I believe Rumbellos was just up from the old Midland bank. The old London Hotel was force closed by the police as far as I'm aware ,but very sad to see it gone. Maybe you could do a video on some of the history of pubs in Redruth and Camborne .Thank you for the video, nicely done .👍

@5:00 The London Brewhouse early 1990's, Brilliant pub for watching live bands. Used to have gigs there Thursday, Friday, Saturday * i believe Sunday at one point. Saw loads of great local (& not so local) bands there. Think it closed early 2000's.

Shame to see so many shops closed, and or, to let. But this is the choice when people prefer the Internet rather than going to real shops in a real High Street let alone the Tories fucking everything up. We need to get Britain booming again, as what happened in the 70s and 80s with Scotlands Oil. We were doing well then, this note from James in Liss, Hampshire.

Do you remember the cheeseboard near the centre of town, can’t remember what building exactly as I was a kid and it closed down years ago, but cheeseboard did the best sandwiches and subs. I loved a Turkey salad roll. Can still taste it now, miss it very much.

@@kernow..exp. oh wow amazing! I’m glad you remember :) I still remember the smell of the place when I think back on it. Best sandwiches and subs ever. Such a shame. I heard years ago they were going to open in Camborne but it never came to fruition. I live in Plymouth now and have done the last 10 years. But Redruth will always be home 👍. Amazing video, I hope you do more videos on Redruth or Camborne, the way you do the videos is great, to the point but informative on the history before going onto the next, was proper drawn in. Thanks 👍

How sad to see my home town of Redruth looking so shabby. I was born there in 1964 and grew up in the town. I have never seen the Town look so unkempt, shops closed, dirty looking buildings and streets. If anywhere needs regeneration its dear old Redruth. You missed so much history on your walk around, but I guess that is a memory thing. Rumbalows was opposite Llyods Bank. Halifax was an old pub called Taddy Court, Clotworthy's, Tregonnings, John Oliver's, Oxford pub, Piddock's butchers just to name a few. You walked right past the Cattle Market in Clinton Passage, by the Clinton Club. The pub your dad drank in was called the Railway Arms. You missed out Alma Place, home of the famous cafe and all of Green Lane, not to mention Back Lane West, Penryn Street. But I very much look forward to your second video. This is not a moan by the way, I really enjoyed seeing Redruth again after so many years, but it's time for the powers that be in Redruth to do something about the state of the town.

Thank you for your comment I basically grew up in the town in the 1980s so I don't know everything there is to know about Redruth but I know a lot of change in the years that I've been here rumbelows my uncle Roger used to work in there in the late 70s early 1980s

I stayed in Redruth for 2 months in 1964/65 when I arrived in the UK from New Zealand. My mother came from Camborne. I stayed with Miss Beat Carter in Blights Row. We went to a Christmas pantomine at the Regal theatre if I remember correctly. I returned there with my husband in 2015 for a short visit. We, with our 3 children, also stayed in Portreath Easter 1975. Lovely memories. Thanks

Rumbelows, where I bought my treasured copy of Led Zeppelin's double album Physical Graffiti for £1. The supermarket was Gateway at one point and International at another. Heavy rock disco upstairs at the London! Also can't believe you went straight past John Oliver's. Iconic record shop!

Stayed at Redruth for 2 years 1977-8, studied for my A Level at Cornwall Technical College then.. Still remembered International Supermarket near the Post office & Oliver Record & Stationery store after former Boots store site. Watched 007 The Spy who Loved me at Regal. I'm glad Lloyds' still around. Brings back lovely memories. Is the Lending Library @ Clinton Road still around?

As soon as you walked down the alley towards the main street Kernow I knew where you were. I had a close relative living there and used to visit quite a lot over recent years. I haven't been for a year or two and it's a shame some shops have closed. I hope the book shop in the market area is still there. I love the shop. Some nice cafés there. I like Redruth it feels homely to me.

Hi its nice to see the high st pedestrianised. I lived in Redruth from 1972 to 75. During that time the Flowerpot chapel burnt down and a few years later the carpet store went up. i lived in Adelaide Rd next to Victoria park and saw the Glow from the carpet store from my home.I went to take a look it was a shocking and scary fire late into the night. So the dates were mid 70s and not the 80s.The Flowerpot chapel was also sad to see the aftermath with very little left though they did manage to save several of the decorative large flowerpots which were on top of the chapel one i believe was put into victoria park. I have lived in Wales since 75 and rarely visit Ruth but sad to see its demise a bit like the town where i live namely Llanelli. The London Inn had some great bands. i spent many a day in Toys n Models sone great Hornby stuff..As a young train spotter i spent hours on that station watching the class 52 westerns..and at Drump Rd near Green lane..Thanks for the memories..i miss Cornwall and my Spirtual home.
