I'm from York, it's a lovely city with so much to do, I try to get there when I can. The castle museum, the viking museum, the museum gardens, the Shambles and my favourite the Railway Museum. You'll have a great time 😃
Thanx kidz for a great video "as usual " always great fun to watch 😀 Me and our lass moved from Hull to sunny Queensland 30 odd years ago Every time we go home to Old Blighty we always visit beautiful York ... this video was perfect for us to reminisce about even down to the Yorkshire Pud shop that we eat at, when home!! Thanx again kidz for the memories 😀😀 Cheers Shaun n Deb 🍻
We took the tour bus in York and it was fascinating and quite cheap - The tour guide on the bus was amazing and we were able hop off and hop on again to visit anything we found interesting - Well worth doing 🙂
Aw my beautiful home town, you would love our friends pub ‘The Masons Arms’ Fishergate. Gill and Terry will look after you and they do a fab pint. Have a beautiful time xxxx
We live in york it's lovely, the York' minster set on fire on the 9th of July in 1984 when it was Thunder and lightening. Have a great time in york & take care. Xxx
The reason the buildings stick out more as they get taller is so when emptying pee from pots it didn’t fall onto the windows below. The shrine on the Shambles is a lovely peaceful place to visit. Also keep a lookout for the cats on some of the buildings.
Hi Mazzy So sorry the tour bus was shut down for the winter you would have enjoyed it. Perhaps a treat for the summer 😀 Hope you have a lovely Birthday 🥳
Been to York 5 times great place to visit. I recommend castle museum. I think Dick Turpin was hanged beside York racecourse. Also ghost bus is great. Thanks for great video👍
Can't believe you are in York we live 10 miles north of York my late grandparents lived down bishopthorpe road and we spent many a happy hour in rowntrees park as kids York is a beautiful place I think when you live nearby you don't appreciate it a walk round the bar walls is well worth a go 😀❤️👍
Lovely day out. York is on my must see list. Love the Shambles and centuries old architecture. Enjoy your roasts today and grab your kebab tomorrow. See you soon.
I was born in York and visit as often as i can, the most interesting place myself and my brother found to visit was back in 2001 i'm not sure if its still open to the public but Beneath the minster a Crypt was discovered many years ago and it was the most amazing and interesting tour seeing all the rooms and things that were found, i would highly recommend it to you both as its just your thing. Thanks for the great videos. Janice. XX
You've been putting out some cracking videos lately and now your back in York one of my favourite locations. Why don't you go for a drink at the Roman Bath and go see the little museum and remains in the cellar? You allowed to film and there's loads of Gladiator helmets and things to try on 😉👍👍👍
Wow - looks like you had some amazing weather for this time of year. When we’re at Richmond sometimes and the river is flowing fast and high (river Swale) you know in a day or so York is at risk of flooding. Flood water levels are quite surprising aren’t they. Such great choices to visit, love York ❤ great to explore, never had a bad day in York. Some fascinating buildings and history. Learned something new I missed when in York in December when you were in the Shambles market too! You going to go on a ghost walk? Those are quite good (or from what I remember!) Have an amazing stay in an amazing city, All the best, David & Rachel 👍
Canonised means to be declared a saint after the person dies. A Martyr is to be killed / die for the persons beliefs/ religious beliefs Great video. I really enjoyed that! 💟☮️ xx
BBC made a couple of drama/comedy series following Anne Listers life called Gentleman Jack. It's based on her diaries and really well done. Well worth the watch
Anne Lister was a diarist. And a land owner. Suranne Jones played her. The two series made were recently shown on BBC 1. Called Gentleman Jack. It was a fantastic show. Have you tried the red bus tour of York. My partner and I stayed near York around 4 years ago. Took a couple of days to get everything done. That we had chosen. I also lived near York, in my teens for a couple of years. As my parents worked for the Ministry of Defence. I spent many weekends there. I loved the Jorvik Viking centre. And I would really recommend that you do the York Dungeons. Above all. Just enjoy your holiday xxx
Love York it has everything, the Lendal rooms/cellars i think you were referring to but can’t point you to where it is but is central near the river end of town, another good video 👍
Things you could do :- Go do the City wall walk or visit Sparks eateries in the up cycled shipping containers it’s not far from the Spoons that you finished this video.
A very interesting video from York. I visited it briefly some years ago. I saw York Minster and one or two other attractions. It looks like you are getting good weather down there. Nice and dry and sunny.I hope you enjoy your time there. I know I will enjoy watching all your vlogs. 😀👍✋
Great video as always, we are going to York in early March and you have given us lots of ideas for things to see . I think the pub in the tunnel is called The Tunnel Cellars. 🙂
Those house prices are a lot cheaper than where I live we got some x council houses across the road one sold last year for £332000 great video thanks for sharing 👍
Hey Guys, just been catching up with ya vlogs. Loving this York one today, I'd love to go here, so much to see, love the oldy worldy. Yum to the food on offer too, but yeah I agree those Yorkshires didn't look anything special, but I guess the proofs in the pudding, or so they say. Shambles street reminds me of, Elm hill in Norwich & Canterbury square by the cathedral, & Bakewell all rolled into one.. with abit of Harry potter's diagon alley thrown in.. Looking forward to seeing your other vlogs, wherever they may take you 😘
We are off up to York in 2 weeks time, me or the wife never been there before, we was looking to get the york pass but you need to do your sums on what places you are going to visit or it can work out more expensive. Only got 3 nights at rowntree caravan park so trying to get a lot done. Keep up your great videos
Great video as usual.. I think the gentleman who owns the ghost shop sells and makes ghost ornaments everyone is unique 😊 We are going in july cant wait 😊

14:41 - Concerning Margaret Clitherow - she was put to death (martyred) in 1586 for her Catholic beliefs and in 1970 was made a saint (canonised) by the Catholic Church. So she is Saint Margaret Clitherow.
One of the ghost walks? Love a river cruise there. National railway museum, near the train station? Shambles fudge kitchen there, yum yum yum! York catherderal? Love York, so much to offer, see and do. Perhaps a walk of some of the castle walls?
You need to go in the Maltings real ale & food pub, it is near the rowing club where you were stood at 2 minutes in & meet Vernon the landlord he's a great guy, also The Weatherby Whaler fish shop on the bypass road they do very large fish.
The timber-framed medieval centre of York is so crooked, atmospheric and well preserved that it’s little wonder it’s inspired hordes of filmmakers. Its most delightfully ancient street, the Shambles, is said to have sparked JK Rowling’s descriptions of Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter books, and informed later cinematic renditions of that street. There’s now a small mini-empire of Harry Potter-inspired shops around it, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg for York on screen. Recent Christmas film My Dad’s Christmas Date is set in the iconic city. Scenes in the Yorkshire Vet were shot at Grays Court, said to be the oldest inhabited house in York, now a wonderful luxury hotel, restaurant and bar with a walled garden and wood-panelled Jacobean lounges. Some of York’s grand Georgian townhouses have also made ideal on-screen mansions for period dramas: Fairfax House appears in BBC’s Gentleman Jack and York Mansion House features in ITV’s Victoria. Any stroll inside the city’s medieval fortified walls is likely to throw up more familiar landmarks, as filming has taken place down cobbled backstreets here for decades. The city’s foremost attraction is its magnificent gothic minster, but visitors will also love York’s shops, the interactive Jorvik Viking Museum, the famous Betty’s Tearooms and its many creaking old pubs, full of dusty ghost tales.
Defo do your castle museum its amazing, with 1900s Street scene you can walk through also do the dungeons it's hilarious a great laugh. Have a go on the yorkvik centre amazing experience
Don't know how we didn't see you we always watch your videos and you were filming right at side of our Fruit and Veg stall "Sheila's" if your ever in again pop by and say hello
When you get a ticket for the Castle museum you can return on the same ticket it last a year go has many times as you want I always wanted to do the Ghost walk
Wonder why New York was named after York, and not after London? It has more in common with London than it does with York: Big town, financial hub, high rises, cosmopolitan, multicultural...
