It'd be great to see Sean's intros round with Jah Wobble and his interactions with Athelston Williams (the staring man!) when he first appeared in the line-up were great.
When I was younger I spent most of my time in my bedroom. My parents didn't really want anything to do with me. I had barely any friends. To pass the time I watched a lot of RU-vid videos and ended up binging every single season of NMTB (Lamarr and the Amstell era) at around age 12-13. This was around 5 years ago now. I always found Sean very funny, and this show kept me smiling and laughing even though I was a very lonely kid. I was very sad to hear of his passing.
@@andrewt836 Thank you so much buddy. These days things are great. I live with my grandma, I got into university this year, and I have a girlfriend. My relationship with my parents is a lot better, so I can't complain. Just glad everything did work out for me in the end.
Reading this shocked me because, at 13-14, I was in the EXACT same situation. NMTB was my saving grace, I would watch it every single day. It’s still my comfort show
Met him at gig here in Dubai about 6 years ago, yes Dubai, and I mentioned Sean's Show was so funny he seemed pretty chuffed that somebody that lives in the plastic city knew that show. What a lovely humble man RIP Sean.
So very very sad. Tragic news. I met Sean after a gig at Leeds City Varieties. Such a nice guy. Very funny guy. I remember seeing him at Cambridge Corn Exchange - I laughed so much I cried!!!- for the whole evening! I remember also seeing him on Never Mind the Buzzcocks - when I was in the audience - hilarious! He'll be very greatly missed. I'm in shock still. Can't quite believe it.
Rest in peace Sean, you are a legend, strange week for me, lost my Grandmother Saturday and now someone I have grown up watching and seeing doing his shopping down the high road gone on Monday WOW.
I grew up watching Sean, Mark and Phill on Buzzcocks. I was lucky enough to see him record for his podcast back in June, he was on excellent form. Such a huge blow.

It’s just a figure of speech, I was brought up as a strict catholic but gave it up when I was 18 years old, however some of the thoughts and sayings are still with me hence my comment. Thanks for your reply, cheers to you and Sean.

oscarcat1231 I despise anything to do with religion, as far as I’m concerned anyone who believes in that fairy tail shit is a fool. Sorry to be so blunt but that’s how I feel. Religion is for losers, and I’m happy to say that the world seems to be slowly also of the same belief - at last. Churches are experiencing smaller and smaller congregations every week because people are finally realising what a sham this all is. Hopefully within the next 50 years we should live in a world where religion no longer exists. Do you know how much pain and suffering religion, especially the so called ‘Christian’ faith has brought upon this planet? How many wars have been and still are being fought in the name of religion, how much money the Catholic Church extracts out of the extreme poor, it’s in the trillions. I hate them, I hate religion and I especially hate anything that has to do with the so called charlatan called jesus christ. Rant over.

I went to see Sean at the City Hall in Sheffield afew years ago, so funny, warm and sweet. I just can't bear Mel B on the first clip! She's such a bossy horrible cow!!!
I only just recently saw Sean Hughes' sitcom "Sean's Show", and I'm truly mournful of the fact I hadn't properly taken notice of the man (having been born in '96), and no offence to the man, I wish I had known sooner to really appreciate him. Rest in eternal Peace to an absolute genius in his own brilliant right.

Mega underrated comedian, shame the majority of the modern generation don't appreciate his unique sense of humour and we saw less of him on the box!!! R.I.P legend, you're gone and we're left with the shite that is Kieth lemon, James Corden etc

I always felt a huge connection to Sean growing up. I lived in Crystal Palace as a kid then moved to North Dublin, a suburb named Cabra. Sean knew both places well.
My favourite Sean moment. Next lines -Mark Lamarr: "One night in Bangkok..."Sean: "With a hoover - WOOOOOO!!" Loved NMTB and Sean, it was never the same after he left. R.I.P you funny funny man. 😔
Perhaps hre2stay it's because he was a mediocre comedian on a mediocre show. Like Bill Bailey and the Jewish "comedian" who's name I can't remember he had no real fondness for the show and only stayed because it paid well.
i first watched nmtb back in 1997 (age 12) and instantly had a crush on sean,i used to tape the show on vhs,i loved his quick wit and his cute smile i felt so sad when he left nmtb i refused to watch it after he left,i used to listen to him on 6 music (still have my tape recordings from his first and last show and 20+ more days) and watched him in the last detective i was heartbroken when he died he was the first celebrity i had to really mourn.Wish some freeview channel would repeat nmtb from series 1 i’d love to dvd record them.
His funniest comment was his response to Marc Lamar, “now that was st winifrids school choir, what have they got in common with Clive Dunn?” Sean’s response....”i dunno they both smell of piss?” 😂😂😂😂 still remember spitting my beer out to this day
I saw Sean before this and he always reminded me of Richard Beckingsale in Porridge. Both so funny and ahead of their time. Bill Bailey did a good job but it wasn't the same without Sean.
Sean's best moment was when he said to dave gorman "you come here with your channel 4 horse racing face" i refused to watch nmtb once sean left.he was a big part of my teenage and early 20's.i found him witty and adorable.
Is there a video anywhere of the best joke the show has ever seen? In the Next Line round - Mark Lamar: Something in the way she moves... Sean Hughes: Makes me think she's only got one leg. I swear I saw this live, but can't find a video or mention of it anywhere.
RIP Sean.. followed you right from the start. Saw you do an open spot up north when you were just starting out. The hecklers soon shut up when they realised they were just getting roasted and that you were genuinely funny. Taken too soon.
For some reason, this year has seen me discover the deaths of famous or influential people months later. Not so Sean. I heard within hours. All I can do is send love to those who loved him most.
Sean came to Bishop Gross Uni (Lincoln). c 2004, a v low key but funny, show. He gave out cds to the v small audience (Laub with me), signed stuff in the bar after, really really lovely guy. RIP Sean H.
I would love to see the identity parade with Atleston were they all pretend to be hypnotised and Sean goes to kill mark. One of my favourite memories as a child. R.I.P. Sean thanks for the laughs.
Thanks Elliot but unfortunately that's not ge one. There is about 4 Athelston compilation videos on RU-vid, neither of which contain the moment in talking about. I remember that the identity parade was for an artist called Junior Giscombe who sung Mama used to say but that's all I can remember. Thanks for the help anyway man.
RIP Sean one of my all time favourite comedians/writers who had such a big impact in my life and I feel so lucky to have met you. Never Mind the Buzzcocks do you have the Pete Burns episode? That was hilarious!
